    Its touring theatre productions that need to sort their act out. Over inflated tickets, denying many across the UK of visiting the theatre.

    It's not a scheme or initiative but a lot of older theatres have 'restricted legroom' seats available for less. They're often offered at the lowest price band but (as the legroom is usually impacted by light fixtures or balcony curve) have a great view of the stage.
    I've seen Wicked, Matilda and Joseph at the Edinburgh Playhouse for about £25 a go. They're not for everyone, I understand, but I'm 5'2" and find it still perfectly comfortable to sit for the length of a show.
    As an aside, this was a very cute video! Your comment about fur coats at the ROH got me thinking about dress codes at different venues - maybe a video idea?

    • @MickeyJoTheatre
      @MickeyJoTheatre  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those sound like exactly the kind of seats I would go for and think I'd be fine in, then would regret as a 5'11" person with long legs 😅
      The dress code point raises an interesting question, only because sometimes I feel dressed very smartly for the theatre and then on other occasions I wear jeans, a Disney jumper and a beanie 🤷‍♂️

    • @alongstorycutshort
      @alongstorycutshort ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MickeyJoTheatre It's definitely influenced by what you're going to see! Family shows are always a bit more casual but I do normally dress up for the West End.

    There’s a couple in here that surprised me that I will now definitely be looking at using so thank you for that!! One thing I do wish though is that todaytix would cover more of the uk than just London, as some touring productions can get expensive. I’ve found recently ATG can do good student prices, they’re not always available for every performance but I’ve had some great ones recently like I got Bat Out Of Hell tickets that should’ve been £52 for £19.50. They also do some single seat offers for usually around £20 so worth checking a day or few days before a performance if it’s something your going to on your own!

    Amazing video. I personally love todaytix for the fact they often have discounts e.g. their current black Friday ones, also they give you the price you will pay, including any booking fee etc so you know upfront the true cost of each ticket. Also didn't realise the moulin rouge lottery is for the next 4 weeks, gives me time to then sort travel to see any show I could get if I was lucky enough to win

    I love that there are so many options for great deals. Good info to have if I ever make it over the pond.
    Most if the professional theater I see is in Toronto, Ontario as it's the easiest for me to get to and their shows a spread out over the year. Considerably reduced show options by comparison to the west end but they do have lotteries, rush seats etc for certain shows that come through. If you plan on seeing everything in their main season or 'off - season' its probably better to get a subscription though. They offer quite a few price ranges and have a lot of options for exchanging seats/days. They also offer early access to touring shows not part of the season. The sub also includes discounts at a lot of restaurants and other attractions.
    Stratford, ON is another great place to see some amazing shows. They often have 2 for 1 sales, student prices, pick your price, holiday prices and giveaways. Their list of shows each season is always amazing - not all Shakespeare. Great town to wander through as well.

    Thanks for the great tips. Here’s mine…I recently saw The Lion King tour at Mayflower Southampton. I bought front stalls tickets for my daughter and myself and saved £90 ( original price £80 each, paid £35 each). How? I kept an eye on ticket sales, once they were nearly sold out I bought 2 single seats on offer so we sat on different sides of the theatre ( I appreciate you can’t do this with a young child!). Hoping I can repeat this when Wicked and Charlie and the Choc Factory tour here.

    The TodayTix app is my fave. when I went to the west end earlier this year I got to our hotel room looked up what had tickets left at midday & we got 2 &Juliet tickets. I've been getting a few rush tickets in Sydney too which is great as our tickets are kinda expensive in Australia. I used it 2 weeks back for a new musical created in Australia called The Lovers which is a pop musical on an interpretation of Midsummer Nights & got those tickets for $30 each.
    This year I somehow won lottery for moulin rouge & Mary Poppins in Sydney with in a week apart which was fun. Got lucky with Hamilton last year & winning lottery in its last couple months running in Sydney. It's great.

    It is so hard to find affordable tickets, especially if you're planning to take younger children and can't risk being sat further back where they won't see a thing (hence wasting the money). Touring theatre is also getting more and more expensive.

    Can i please recommend ATG Membership for anyone going to a ATG regional theatre regularly ? £35 per year for so many benefits including early booking & some extremely good 1st night savings on most shows. I regularly book 2 x £50+ seats at half price giving a saving way in excess of the £35 for just one show. You also get savings on purchases from the bar & other benefits too.

    I feel like these are great ideas, but you kinda have to already be living nearby to make any use of them, as someone 6 hours away from london it's just not something I can take advantage of, if I want to see a show I'd need to plan a whole weekend around it or take time off during the week, I kinda wish the in advance ones would give a bit of preference to people who will never be able to take advantage of an on the day option. Thanks for sharing though, I'm sure it will be really helpful to people who don't live somewhere so far away from everything 😂
