    Philmont was great for me. I went last year with my troop (6-24 Yankee) and it taught me so much about what we could accomplish together and how we can get through anything. Except for my phone getting ruined by rain and hail our first night on the trail so I didn’t get my personal footage

    going on the 12 day trek this summer and want to attempt to make a video like this. (although there is no way it will be this high quality, your video is unbelievably good) curious on if the extra weight if the camera gear will be worth it and mainly wanting to know how you were able to keep everything charged? thanks for the tips - Spencer green (my actual channel is Spencer Green if you want to check out my stuff)

    • @JeffreyMF1
      @JeffreyMF1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      (sorry for late reply) All the camera gear to make this video added up to about 10lbs, that i split with my brother. I was extremely passionate to make this video so I was happy to carry it, wasn't much of a problem. All the camera gear is listed in the description too.
      As for charging, we put a solar panel on our bag that charged a small portable battery while we hiked. That battery charged the dslr and gopro batteries.

    • @JeffCress
      @JeffCress 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Camera gear is easy today. I carried a camcorder in 1990. The charging cable weighed more than my whole camera setup that I used on our 2017 trek. lol
      I was happy with a fauxPro camera last time. But now that I see how much better Jeppy's video is, I think I'll take something that has zoom next time.

      Since you are just a couple of days out I challenge you to figure out what you can leave behind and not even carry on the trail.
      Most important thing you can do with a few days left: Practice breaking camp quickly! That will get you on the trail earlier when it is cooler, and will get you to staffed camps earlier, so you will be in line for their program earlier. We missed program at 2 staffed camps on my last trek in 2017 because we hit the trail too late in the morning and arrived at the staffed camps too late.

    • @JeffreyMF1
      @JeffreyMF1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had 3 total batteries for each camera (3 for Canon t5i, 3 for Gopro 4).
      I also had a small 12w solar panel that I would use to charge a portable battery in the day (the description has all the specific items) which I think was overkill for a 5 day trek but better to be prepared!
      It's been too long to remember if I struggled with battery life but I was sure to be sparing with how often I had the camera on and how long I would record for
