We were able to buy Nueschwanstein tickets online at 8 AM. Saw Hohenswangau at 10, visited the Alpsee lake and then the second castle at 1:40. The walk up to the Marien Brucke was steep and tough. I’d suggest taking the bus unless you want a workout!
