    im a college drop out and i almost lost myself and gave up on art and my passion for exploring different paths in the art industry. and this really does help me and fuel my motivation to keep on going. people say you dont have to have a diploma or degree in the arts industry just make a good portfolio and people will find you. and slowly but surely im picking myself up and try to make good portfolio and art. and now i wanna explore the world or motion graphics

      Not a college drop out but we're in the same situation. It gets me so overwhelmed by the fact that i don't know anything about being an artist since i graduated from a different course, but recently, I resigned from my job to pursue being a video editor first or even a motion graphics designer if given the chance, either way, i still have a long way to go.

    I have a big question on my mind. If you forgot some techniques, is it okay to watch tutorials while working?

    • @schoolofmotion
      @schoolofmotion  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Are you talking about "When I'm working at a studio am I expected to just know what I'm doing and not look up anything?" If that's your question then we'd like to encourage you that everyone at every level is looking up tutorials. You will solidify your understanding over time and practice, but this job will always require research. Most high-end animators need to rely on one another to figure out really complex problems. It's just the nature of the job :) So, watch tutorials to figure out something while your working, just try not to binge and be unproductive. It's easy to go down a misleading rabbit hole.

    • @lxi5464
      @lxi5464 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@schoolofmotion Thank you so much for that clarification! I'm just wondering 'cause I'm a freelancer and planning to work in a studio/company soon and based on my experience, in most times, I watch YT tutorials 'cause I always forget some techniques or the right buttons/settings to use. As I'm preparing my portfolio now, I also get pressured with the thought if I should memorize a lot of things especially the technicalities in using software. Your reply eased my mind. Thanks and cheers!
