Lyrics:
Time is always there to catch my fall
I carry it in something beautiful
I turn the key into my burial
A cellar door into my open soul
Close the loophole
Who could've known I would fall so hard starting over
Loop is closed just go to the depths
Cold mirror
Transform my death into a conduit
This body separate from the fear of fear
Inside a coping mechanism of monotony
I will destroy the double vision that I was forced to leave
Close the loophole
Who could've known I would fall so hard starting over
Loop is closed just go to the depths
Cold mirror
There is a chain that I don't believe in
There is a strain on the tempered ceiling
My lungs are full of the pain of feeling
I can’t live in this world while I breathe in another one
So tear my lungs out
Tear my lungs out
Who could've known I would fall so hard starting over
Loop is closed just go to the depths
Cold mirror
Who could've known I would fall so hard starting over
Loop is closed just go to the depths
Cold mirror
Who could've known I would fall so hard starting over
Loop is closed just go to the depths
Cold mirror

we are waiting for a reaction, Nik!!
I love how Courtney is so insanely calm in all their videos.
true evil... got me the chills jajajaj
Yeah makes her look so badass lol
She has this cool, sassy but confident vibe in her videos. I think it has a lot to do with her obsession with Beyoncé lol
@Demiurge66 I didn't know that, it all makes sense now 😂
Hmm, exactly what bothers me, I just thought. With that aggression I would expect more life/movement.
But I won't judge, that's her thing :)
the opening riff is legitimately so claustrophobic, I don't remember the last time a song made me feel this way, even their other heavier songs. I love it
Code Orange is the only other band that has ever made me have that feeling
Claustrophobic? I don't think you know what that word means lmao
@@ThexCatmanxI just listened to code orange. It isn't metal at all lol
The opening riff sounds SO much like The Prowler by He Is Legend….like sooooo much that they should give them a writing credit 😅
@@whitlee7679Wow it does! I just listened to it 😅
Heavy af this one, honestly blown away by how good Spiritbox are, the pure quality of each new track is incredible. What a band
That drop...Break..CHUN CHUN CHUN CHUCHUCHUN......almost broke my speakers
2:46 that breakdown is CATASTROPHIC
lets just say i have to get a new tv now

Imagine seeing that live. Actually might shit myself
@@raetime2350 saw them 2 days ago and they were amazing!!!!
@@raetime2350 dead ass everytime she starts singing I fall in love
This is god tier. Absolutely their most heaviest song yet. Courtney looking like a dream in a nightmare. God, I love this band so much.
Holy Roller has entered the chat
first two albums entered chat
I really like this direction for them but, as the other gentleman stated, Holy Roller feels like getting hit in the head with a bat to this day
Feel like this is heavier than holy roller even, or silk in the strings 😅 and it’s well appreciated
definately not heavier than holy roller. still nice and heavy tho.
Love the "Mara Effect" guitar tones / patterns at the end of the track 🖤 What a BANGER
Dude I was going to say so does that mean the next track will transition to a The Mara Effect Pt. 4
@@BigBossJellySnakeit will transition to Jaded, you can already find the tracklist of the upcoming EP online
@@NJTllrd that's accurate, and you can easily notice listening to both in sequence, they fit perfectly
@@iagopedro2054 I can confirm, Spotify did this for me and it was 👌
The polyrhythm breakdown and chug is brutal and heavy af ! Absolutely menacing song . Best spiritbox song till date . Songwriting , production and mixing and even the video quality (!!!) is a wow ! 🙌🏾🤘🏽
To* date
Can't decide between this and Jaded 🤘
Menacing is exactly how I'd describe this track. The background even gives me some doom vibes. Fucking love it
It is so easy to play. That's tells ya something. The composing is amazing, with this band.
@@ShitYourself7oh look, it's a grammar asshole... like me! 🤭😁
Compliments to the costume designer!! Courtney absolutely slays in these looks 🖤🖤🖤
The versatility and timing of their music , always a joy to experience. You never know what you're going to get.
Sounds like pure violence 🤤🔥🔥🔥🔥👊🤘🇨🇦🎸
I was honestly expecting more songs like Jaded (in a good way, I love that song) so I was totally blown away by Cellar Door!
I love their melodic stuff, but these dissonant/diminished tracks are where I think their range is best animated. Such a patented blend of groove, thrash, thud, and melody, all at once. All of the members are phenomenal songwriters with perfectly complementing styles, and their ability to ebb and flow a track while keeping it cohesive is top notch. What a great time to be a metalcore fan, we're seeing the genre evolve and mature in real time.
Is this not melodic!? I really hear the melody so clearly. It’s such a banger dude 😭 congrats to spirit fucking box!
@@eclipses3131he’s probably referring to clean vocals
@@eclipses3131 "melodic" usually refers to an emphasis on dramatic, major, easy on the ear progressions. Technically all songs have a melody by default but this song is mostly 3 chromatic notes so it's not melodic per se, it just has a chromatic/diminished melody.
Orchestrated mess is what it sounds like to me
@@c9prototype I’ve got the rhythm down and love it. It’s very catchy and groovy. But I see your point
Probably their heaviest song since holy roller. My favorite metalcore band of all time, Courtney is a goddess.
Can we be friends and talk about Courtney?
I dunnooo man Rotoscope went pretty fucking hard too
@belleybutton4335 haha are you joking? Rotoscope had some heavier parts to it but it was alot more of a chilled out vibe in comparison to this. This is heavy as fuck.
@belleybutton4335 rotoscope is bubblegum pop compared to this. don't get me wrong, i love the song, but it's barely heavy compared to what SB are capable of
That occasional Piano/synth sound is my favourite part of all of this.
Very nice for sure. But the bass with the distortion cranked to the moon is my favorite in this one.
There's no piano. That's guitar with effects and yes synth sounds also.
me too, great ears... (but it's not piano it's guitar )
Amazing concept album. I love how cellar door starts with “time is always here to catch my fall” as the first line in the album. Then ends with “never too close, never too late, there’s always time” as the last line in ultraviolet. Really love how it all loops around. One of many reasons why this EP is a true masterpiece 🥲
I love the apocalyptic matrix/gothic style aesthetic in this. Having 3 Courtneys is scary in a good way 🤩
Yes I love that....such 90s vibes but modern at the same time
Love Spiritbox more than I can explain so I absolutely love this video. Also to anyone that hasn’t already seen them live you are totally missing out they sound just if not better in person than any other media.
Banger for sure.
youre not the only one
I recently saw them live opening for Papa Roach and Shinedown. Quite a few ppl were clearly there to see Spiritbox specifically. It was definitely a little odd because Papa Roach and Shinedown are not the types of bands you expect to be in a lineup with Spiritbox but hey, more exposure to different ppl isn't a bad thing.
Saw them open for Ghost, they only played a few songs and I was blown away.
I want her to blink twice if she needs help. Why can't she move her face anymore?
Why is their best song being overshadowed by that lip filler?
So I haven't really seen someone talk about the fact that The Fear of Fear is essentially a concept EP in the fact that all the songs have similar themes and are self-referential. Keep in mind that this is all my own interpretation and I could be wayyyyy off.
I think The Fear of Fear is the story about someone stuck in some kind of cycle, either metaphorically or literally. In this case, I view it as a cycle of immortality, or a cycle of different iterations of the same person. The reason for this is all of the different Courtneys crawling in The Fear of Fear, as well as the doubled up Courtneys in the same video, the mirrors in Jaded/Angel Eyes.
The crimson key and mirrors play a huge role in this immortality. The crimson key is the representation of whatever keeps starting the cycle of death and rebirth over, and I think the reason it's shown at the end of Cellar Door is all of those Courtneys are at the ends of their cycles, and the key is either starting it anew or the literal key to ending the cycle--"I turn my key into my burial". The reason the song is called Cellar Door is because this person is trapped in the same cycle--"Close the loophole". She also feels stagnated or pained in this cycle, which is there the cycle could be more metaphorical, like a literal fear of fear or the cycles get into when they're afraid of doing something--"I can't live in this world while I breathe in another one".
The constant imagery of the mirrors is another representation of the different Courtneys. Courtney wants to shatter or break the mirror to end the cycle, as in Angel Eyes--"This time I break the mirror when I die / An hourglass inside my mind / Turn it once to touch the sky (referring to the key ending the cycle)." Courtney breaking the mirror is killing the concept of different iterations and the idea of the cycle.
Ultraviolet is after she has broken the mirror and managed to turn the crimson key or break the cycle, and it's her final iteration--"This is the last time I am waking up". This is her way of accepting mortality or accepting the struggle the cycle has put her into and moving on from it. The outfit she is wearing is reflecting the fact she has shattered the mirror, and the different people in the video grabbing her are the people who still want her to stay alive. At the end, she accepts death and is seen laying on the ground. That, or the way the video starts the same way as it ends is a representation of the cycle repeating itself.
Anyways, this was hella long-winded. Please give me your other interpretations because there was a lot I didn't list here. TLDR, The Fear of Fear is some of their best work.
That actually makes sense. Thank you for writing this. :)
Check out fear campaign by fear factory
Whoa.
Donnie Darko influences are strong with this one
Spiritbox really said they're bringing it on during spooky season haha. Great song as always!
Courtney has been so iconic in the past few videos! She’s killing it!
Usually cant get away with songs with no clean vocals in at all, but this has me HOOKED
I think just a little clean would’ve made it even better. The contrast is always good.
Everyone saying it’s their heaviest yet, mean while I’m over here in North America waiting for it to drop. needless to say I’m hype. 🤟🏻❤️🔥
Yeah, the breakdown is FILTHY :D
Man, nothing is heavier then Holly Roller, they cant beat it, but this song is heavy af, thats true :D
This is more in line with their old school shit, I LOVE IT!!!
Holy Christ it's got an off beat breakdown
Absolutely heavier than Holy Roller
Heaviest since Holy Roller and I’m here for it all. Keep rolling, Spiritbox🤘🏼
But better than. Loving it!
You must've missed Silk In The Strings, brother 😄
And hysteria@@YuryVVV
Sun Killer was super heavy. Did you miss Eternal Blue lol
Nah holy roller wasn't as heavy as belcarra imo. Heaviest since then
Love the heavy side of this band I need more of this
Belcarra, The Mara Effect live at Silverside Sound are good starts
@@sicboi80Belcarra is fucking good
The parts with her crawling through the wires and cables is wildly unsettling to me. I had nightmares just like this when I was fresh out of cancer surgery. With that being said, well fucking done. You managed to audibly and visually capture a nightmare. I can't get enough of it.
They're very talented at recreating the feeling of actual nightmares. Mara Effect pt. 3 did it to me
When it comes to creepy and feels they know how to present that so well. Mikes background Soundscapes can be used in both clean songs and harsh heavy songs and it just has vibes
This is the definition of an instant classic. The horror vibes are impeccable, really brings me back to Belcarra but somehow even more intense.
Also, this totally leads into Jaded if you listen to the absolute very end.
yeah they have released the song list for The Fear of Fear
1. Cellar Door
2. Jaded
3. Too Close / Too Late
4. Angel Eyes
5. The Void
6. Ultraviolet

How did I never give this band a listen? Best thing I've heard in years.
Check out the band He Is Legend!!
You and me both.
I love how more than half of the people watching this hasn't heard of I Wrestled A Bear Once lmao Courtney didn't just come out of thin air. She's been working really hard to get the credit she deserves.

this got old school Spiritbox vibes to it - well done !
The whole song is so good i've had it on repeat for a while. BUT, that drop bit at 2:46 odd is just insane!!! SB never ceases to amaze me.
Dude, insane!!!!
Sometimes you just gotta remind people how brutal you can be. Sick! 🔥
I don't know that I've ever known a band to be this diverse and still nail it with every style of music they apply themselves to. This is so good.
Opening their tour sets with this song is next level. My new favorite song from them
that chorus feel like dread in the best ways possible, the video was absolutely spot on. I love how unsettling it is, it really feels like the constant struggles we face. that line "My lungs are full of pain of feeling" is a perfect way to word the pain you feel when you start to feel better, only to fall back down to rock bottom again which hurts the most I think.
Also the line "There is a strain on the tempered ceiling" is such a beautiful line! That coping mechanism you describe is like the bunker you build around yourself to protect yourself, but now it just hurt you because you can't feel anything. the strain is like trying to tear down to walls to make yourself venerable again, because you need to be able to feel again.
Amazing song, video and message!

What can be better than Spiritbox? Three Spiritboxes ❤️🖤
Hell yeah

wow how come mom lets you have THREE spiritboxes
@@kaimas1005halestorm isn't even on the same planet as spiritbox lol in this moment is good but I feel like spiritbox has kind of grown better than them. The thing that separates Courtney from the other female metal vocalists is that she doesn't have to dress like a hooker as a gimmick to bring in fans. She furthers the band just from her talent alone. This video here is about the most revealing thing I've seen her wear in a video and even that wasn't THAT bad lol.
Broken By The Scream and Hanabie
I work at Spencer’s and I heard Hurt You for the first time…in other words I’m so happy I found this band.🖤

Wow, how beautiful Courtney is and this incredibly atmospheric video and melody. Big Mama is back. 🔥
The build up before the chug breakdown sounds like a swarm of bees getting angrier and angrier before the CHUGdown. Love all of the ambiance and small details in this song that really give it a different vibe
Heavy, dark, and has that instant classic vibe, I love it. Spiritbox absolutely killing it with every video they make. Seeing a live one-take video for this song would be amazing as well.
So I hated this song when it came out... now 3 weeks later I cannot stop banging my head! What a banger and i'd love to hear this one live!
Unreal. Instantly one of my favorites. There aren't many artists that can go from something so accessible like Jaded or The Summit to something so brutal and disgusting like Cellar Door or Holy Roller. This is why I love this band so much. Can't wait for the EP.
Ok. I always liked Spiritbox. And I think they have tons of amazing hits. But this one definitely hits a special feeling that I dig. And the video is visually appealing as far as my taste in videos go. Fantastic job on this song Spiritbox!!!

I need to share something crazy. The past few weeks have been super difficult mentally (battling with depression and health issues for years) and yesterday I had a serious mental breakdown. Luckily I was able to videochat with my therapist. We talked about a 'trick' I use when I'm in a very dark place. A white sun-like circle appears in my head shining bright light and then the sunrays destroy all (or at least as much as possible) negative energy in my head. The past days it didn't seem to work, because I had spiraled too far down. But because my therapist helped me, I managed to see the white sun-like circle above and around my head beaming through the darkness. I finally felt more calm again. This morning I woke up and suddenly saw this new video of Cellar Door and i was stunned. I saw the white circle around Courtney's head and around the band. What a weird, almost supernatural, but beautiful coincidence. Spiritbox has been my favorite band for over a year and their music has meant so much for me. Thank you!
