It's encouraging and sad at the same time. This officer sticks with Tyler, even though he keeps getting blotto drunk and drug-addled. Tyler is blessed to have this officer speak truth to him and want better for him. Really hoping Tyler completes rehab and stays clean.

Huge props to the deputy for his patience and professionalism with Tyler. Honestly it seemed more like an aggravated big brother than a deputy most of the time. Addiction is hell and it's nice to see some in the profession actually acknowledge that fact and still treat someone as a human being.
I agree that he handled it very well! Much better than I would have been able to! My tolerance level for drunks is extremely low!! And when they get into their "big dick contest" bullshit, I'm done!

Wow what nice officers. They tried to be respectful of this man. They didn’t make this personal and stayed calm. I am impressed with this officer.
This is a nice officer wow thank god i am not in the uk
I'm not; he inflamed the situation with childish, petty remarks. Incredibly disruptive and the opposite of de-escalation.

What a stellar deputy. Kudos to you, sir! When that kid said "I don't have a father or a friend" that hit me hard. As a recovering alcoholic and someone with two shi**y parents, I can relate. I hope you get sober and make better decisions young man. Listen to the deputy, he seems to genuinely care and hope the same for you.
good advice and good luck on your sober journey. take care
Well said. The patience and care in that Officers voice said it all. There is a connection and I feel that the charges may be just read in.
Now lets play pretend. Picture in your mind that Tyler is black. Now how do you see this all playing out.
I used to be IV opiate user and I've had a few situations like these. The responders were always calm and kind. People go through bad places in their lives.
Some people push their parents out of their lives. Not every parent enables their drug or alcohol abuse
Tyler, you out there breaking our hearts :( I don't have a dad/friend that's sad dude
The same excuse always.
When you that messed up I don't think he has a care to lie but I'm not a brain surgeon
He probably did and pushed them all away.
You probably right, it's unfortunate
Don’t believe a word anyone says that’s this deep in alcohol and the system. If what he says is true then yes, it’s very sad but there’s probably a whole lot to that story including his own contributions to why his life is the way it is.
Absolutely a calm and kind yet professional police officer. Nice.
Calm and professsional? You're outta your phucking mind!!!
Drunks like this are terrifying, seem ok one minute and violently psychopathic in the next breath. My ex was like this, I don’t miss it.

My sister is visiting right now, she's an alcohol. She picks fights with my son, her nefew! He's 8 years old! She's a scorpio and he's a Sagittarius, they don't mix well to begin with. Somebody _please_ get this guy an empty Gatorade bottle
We use male urinals. Should've been the first thing.
Dude said he is on the waiting list for rehab and that's really sad how patients in need have to be on a wait list for any type of rehab services
Well-regarded and QUALITY rehab is extremely expensive if someone doesn't have insurance that will cover it. A month in can be 20 grand at the better places.
And when they get to the top of the list, you have to fail the piss test. You need help, and if you're doing a good job on your own you get denied. My cousin had been sober for months but it was hard for her, and she knew she had to test positive so she got to be the first person in my home state to find heroin cut with fentanyl.
@@tenchravenThat’s crazy 🥺 I hope she survived that. I need to look more into what the criteria are for rehab & the differences between the US & Aus. Well that was an eye opener. There’s everything from 12 weeks min residential stay in basically a luxury resort costing around $20,000 for 6 weeks, with most of them covered by private health insurance to some extent, to low income rehab options in the community or residential programs. With an estimated 500,000 people waiting to get into programs. There are programs that include withdrawal management as well as all the other facets of addiction therapy, and those where you do the withdrawal phase prior. Obviously a very complex & costly area.
@@tenchravenit’s about criteria for detox; if you have a clean tox panel, it is harder to get into inpatient treatment, mostly because beds are often misused as shelter by chronic manipulators of the system; but there are many programs, at least in my state, such as outpatient group/individual therapy, psych rx follow up to therapy, IOP, Sober Houses and MAT; and they do not require using again to engage any of them although you may have to test positive for the substances you are prescribed as part of a treatment plan.
@@iderbolis My wife just got out of rehab for alcohol. $180,000 for 30 days.
I had a step brother exactly like this. The last time I saw him he was going through those shivers and dry gagging at an airport after our parents spoiled him taking him on our vacation. He spat at me and I had a glass cup of coke (from a restaurant) and smashed the cup in his face and stood over him telling him to get up so I could beat the life out of him. He sat there crying and I walked away and spent my savings on changing my plane ticket. That trip we took he met a girl who also was an alcoholic but had parents with big money and offered to take care of them financially if they got their shit together and stopped drinking entirely. He’s been sober for 4 years now from alcohol and the father in law bought a vape shop that he was managing and was gifted this last June for their wedding as owner. He had alcohol problems going back to when he was 13 years old and his mom feeding into his addiction. The thought of alcohol makes him sick and he loves life for the first time that he can remember. With that said I hope Tyler can find that same kind of inner peace. It seems so far away but it’s obtainable even when your entire family disowns you and wants you dead.
You haven't reconciled?
Why don’t you talk to him now that he’s sober? Are you sober?

sadly the ambulances never carry urinals with them, but they often pick up people who are on drugs, or drunk, or just plain sick, and often one of the first things you hear from them is "i gotta pee"
Never thought of that, but very good point!
We did in Tasmania when I worked first response. They are made of thick cardboard and work well, male and female products.
We do in the UK.
They could use an emesis bag which are in almost all ambulances in the USA
Yeah I've never understood that concept watching these ,unless they wanted the urine for testing.
Those painful cringes are definitely from a fifth of whiskey opening stomach lining or ulcers from the years of drinking... had it happen at a terrible time. Feels horrible
I believe he has to piss so bad and has been holding it, it gets painful. I’d imagine a bladder full of whiskey and being dehydrated may not feel good, when you’ve been holding it along time.
@user-ln7of9gs4s ive also experienced the kidney pain off not receiving yourself. Since a young age with anxiety i would hold for as long as possible and have to stretch to get rid of the tension afterwards. also a compounding factor. Figure you would just let it go if you were to far gone though
Yes! And when the ulcers are particularly irritated it does cause waves of these stomach cramps/nausea/heaving.

I guess I’ve been here before because it says I’m subscribed, but I don’t think I’ve ever watched one to the end and heard you talk. Really great channel! And don’t take the “watching to the end” part personal. I kind of cut to the end of the chase or arrest on every channel and call it good.💜
When he said he didn’t have a father or a friend, I sat up straight and thought, “I’ll be your friend.” Everyone needs someone to talk to. Reach out if you want to, Tyler. No judgement. Just compassion and real talk.
This.
I agree but… I also think there’s a reason bro doesn’t have any friends. Addicts don’t make good friends.
@shelley6477 I was thinking the same, cuz bro needs a friend that understands... You have friends, Tyler!
I pray he finds his way to the rooms of AA or NA if he can't get into rehab soon enough, because there he'll find a fellowship of addicts; brothers and sisters in recovery that will love him until he loves himself, to support him so long as he is willing... Addicts in recovery are more than just friends; we are family... No matter what ❤🙏
@@vortexaligned totally agree except for AA only works for about 8% of the population. Tough love can make things worse. A little one-on-one with someone who understands and cares might be better.
@shelley6477 It works for those who work their program willingly and diligently, but I agree with you that it may not be for everyone... I'm not here to preach though, that's not my intention, just saying it can be a place to find someone who understands and cares, when a person feels like they have no one who does...❤️ My personal experience in the rooms of AA/NA is not modeled in tough love, but unconditional love, so my heart goes out to anyone that may have had a negative experience. I walked through the doors on my own, willingly, but I can understand also that it may be a completely different experience for individuals that may have been court ordered to work a program, etc.

The officer was so patient. I don’t think I could be. He said he’s dealt with him before. Glad they charged him.
Sedating someone that is drunk af, and refusing consent…. Not a good idea.
He seems a bit drunk , but does he lack mental capacity? In order for an agent of the State to override consent ( or someone's lack of consent) the person needs to have an impairment or disorder of the mind preventing him from making informed decisions. Its quite a fraught area of law. Just look at compelled feeding in anorexia.
You can be temporaryily incapacitated when intoxicated. But you sober up in 8 hours.
He was restrained on a Guerney . That's already a major deprivation of liberty potentially..
I didn't see anyone carrying out a mental capacity mini test required to evidence the person lacks the ability to make capacitous (yes that's a word) decisions.
On the face of It this was an abuse of power in my view but there seems to be a long backstory, the staff clearly know him well
🙋♀️ Again, I love & appreciate your commentary at the end. Thanks. What’s particularly sad to me is - and I’m paraphrasing - Tyler eluded to not having a father or a friend. I’m a retired firefighter. Iv never seen an ambulance do this. If you even start to get violent in my ambulance. You are out. It’s simply not our job to deal with violent people. And it’s illegal to force treatment on people. They strap him down and force drugs on him. That’s illegal. What happens in this squad goes against every policy I have ever come in contact with.
Sounds like he was arrested on warrants, going to the hospital to get medically cleared before going to jail.
Why wasn't he in cuffs after he has hit an officer and kicked a paramedic?

There should be no wait lists for help. Look what happens while they wait. They end up with a record, losing family, friends, and jobs or dead. Vicious circle ambulance is at the bottom of the cliff instead of at the top, preventing a catastrophe.
