I love your pronunciation of French!
    Its beautiful.
    I adore Madame de Pompadour.
She was so gifted and it is very kind of her to be sweet to the Queen.
It is sad that her health was poor throughout her life and her daughter did not survive.
What a remarkable woman she is.🎉❤

Perhaps you could have pointed out that she was a significant patron of the arts and sympathised with the Enlightenment 'philosophes', supporting the 'Encyclopédie'. Nancy Mitford wrote an excellent, sympathetic biography of her, simply entitled 'Madame de Pompadour'.

You're right, I should have implemented that into my video. Thank you for pointing it out Patrick, maybe I should consider doing a video about that on its own at a later time !

She shouldered much of the blame for France's failure in the Seven Years War and for the running court debts. But she made french porcelain famous, providing skilled jobs for the region.

"Charles Francois Paul Le Normant De Tournehem" OMG is that name for real :D
I always adored De Pompadour for her fashion sense most of all. Every dress she ever wore was a wonder, covered in ruffles and bows head to toe. I think she was the ultimate example of rococo fashion.
But despite all her qualities, she probably was an immoral woman.
"Let there be flood after us" laughed she, refering undoubtfully to the turmolous mood of the commoners.
And just a few decades later, Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and many other nobles got to experience the flood that De Pompadour laughed about.
I wonder if she was still laughing on the other side.

Famous - infamous, one of the most intelligent an influental women of her time! Slandered and indeed very much underrated personality, fighting her frailty, the filthy slander and her health issues, instead of being detrimental to the monarchy she helped extremely to keep the bourbons on the throne, methinks...

Her family called her Reinette (Little queen) because she received a future reading wich foretold she will be a queen and she was a sort of second queen btw she was actually the first person to send flowers to Maria Leszczynska Maria herself was heard saying "if there must be a mistress I'm glad it's her" plus I hate the fact that the king's kids and Infanta Maria Teresa Raphaella called her "Mommy Whore"

Hello, LJ ! As I see you made the effort of writing in French "Duc de Saint-Simon", this is an information : in French, opposite to the English, titles never start with a capital letter. So, we write : duc (not Duc), marquis (Not Marquis), etc, etc…
      Have a good day ! ;-)

Hello ! Actually, madame de Pompadour is supposed to have said "Après nous, le déluge" ("After us, the deluge") to Louis XV, shortly after the battle of Rossbach, as an invitation not to think too much about the harsh consequences of this lost battle.

@@plamenivanov92 I know the question was not for me but, since you seem very interested in this period of French History, I would say that it is difficult to chose between these two women. Both had qualities and defaults. But I have an affection for madame du Barry, because she was not political at all. She never interfered with the government and the ruling of the country, and she was very kind to people, and very devoted to the king.
