Enjoyed the video! I miss my 1973 Opel Manta. It was rusted out (bought it used as my first car... paid $600 in the early 1980's) from being driven in Wisconsin or Michigan or some other northern state, but I loved it! Best tracking car I have ever owned and it got 30 mpg realistically! Tragically, I wrecked it and didn't have the funds to even pay to get it out of the wrecker yard. (heavy sigh) That was many years ago... Wish I could own one again or the GT with a manual transmission! (smile) Thanks for bringing back some good memories for me!
Thanks! It really is a fun little car. The manual rack and pinion steering is very direct with no slop at all, which was the opposite of most American cars of the era. This one has been in my family since the mid-70's and I feel fortunate that it's survived for me to enjoy!

Beautiful vid! In the '70s and early '80s I used to drive my nearly identical '73 Manta Rallye (dude, you're missing the matte black hood!) very "enthusiastically" through the mountain and canyon roads but up in Northern California instead. These days I do it with Mustangs but still greatly miss my little Opel.
Thanks! It really is a fun car for these kinds of roads. It'll be even more fun when I finish updating my suspension. On the matte black hood, mine isn't a true Rallye model, and while I love the side stripes, I decided I wasn't a fan of the black hood look.
@@goratgo1970 The pod in my '73 4-speed car was attached to the bottom center of the dash below where the radio was located and hung straight down and was ahead of the shifter and console. Mantas with automatic transmissions had a bulkier shifter console so that pod was mounted higher up on the dash at an angle coming out from just below the radio more from the face of the dash.

Maybe you need to change the titel to something like "Opel Manta A 1973 - Manta On The Mountain: A Cinematic Short" to get more views, just an suggestion. Yours sounds really good, what engine has it? Stock exhaust? I recently are the proud owner of a Manta A 1975 myself :) 1.2 engine.
Thanks! I probably should share it elsewhere and/or add keywords. The engine is a built 1.9 (high compression) and the exhaust was put together at an exhaust shop, so a kinda loud aftermarket muffler. It's a fun car!
Just found latest suspension vid, watched most then sub'd, now watching from the first Manta posting. Nice to find since you already have video skills and are doing upgrades.
I'll be doing a "behind the scenes" video soon where I'll show how I captured and edited the audio. I've done a couple of "recording car audio" videos in the past that will give you an idea of my methods, but in general I had one mic near the exhaust, one in the engine compartment, and another in the interior.
Thanks! Nothing crazy, the 1.9 engine was rebuilt with flat top pistons for high compression, Weber carb conversion (32/36), Sprint exhaust manifold, and a Getrag 5-speed from a B series Manta. I've got some videos coming up of various projects on this car, such as installing fog lights, replacing the seals & throwout bearing in the 5-speed, and overhauling the suspension.
Where was this video shot ? The Manta looks like it could have been an American version (thanks to the side indicators). But the bumpers are European spec. The scenic route seems American. The clothing of the driver very European (dutch). I'm bedazzled.
I do actually, under the name of Flying A Photography. Currently I do it independently, not using the BAT photography booking service, as I like having the flexibility, and prefer to retain the rights to the photos. I'd probably get a lot more business if I did sign up for it though. But it's really more of a fun hobby / side gig at this point. I'm sure there are! Nobody in the USA makes an exhaust system for this car, so this exhaust was custom made with just a single generic muffler. I was told it was a similar design to a Flowmaster. Not very refined, but I don't mind.

This was shot in California! We got the small bumpers here in the USA through the 1973 model year. 74-75 had the big bumpers.
