Hi Michael- Very nice shave and reviews today; thank you! The prototype razor looks very promising and I’m sure it’s the product of a lot of thought and effort. The lather on the Captains Choice looked just great. I hope you have a great start to the week and all the best!
Great lather with the Captain's Choice soap, as always - very consistent quality and easy to use. That razor design will get better OR he will drop it and move on to a different one, and I applaud his energy and creativity -- the handles are pretty cool too!
17:28 Hi Michael. Coming to you from Southern California, wich some people THINK is another country xDDD..... new lighting looks great, btw. Love the channel ;)
You know who wants that part of the US back, right (grin)?? Thanks for the confirmation, it looked much better to me as well (and plenty bright). Thanks for watching!
That razor has real potential, and I am confident he is going to keep tweaking the design - he has a number of other ones that he has also refined based on feedback and his own experiences with the razors.
Watching from the east of England! The 3D printed razors have huge potential, since it would be possible for everyone to have a razor custom made to suit their face and hair growth.
Well, since you asked : I'm a fellow from Finland and I've been checking out ur videos for quite some time now. If I plan of buying a new soap, I come here first and check out your review of the soap, if you've done it. Keep up the good work sir
Great shave Michael. It amazes me how much the wet shaving hobby and industry has grown over the years. Next Feburary will make 5 years for me in terms of using shave soaps and brushes. That lather looked pretty sweet and really slick.
Five years ago you could have *imagined* what it would be like, but I don't think any of us realistically expected this type of growth across all product lines -- who would have thought of the Mongoose, or all the new synthetic brushes, or the number of new high-end razors, or revitalized razor designs, or $30 starter kits with everything you need?
Very true Michael. I remember how the synthetic brushes use to be when I started. They are at least 100 times better now and look how many artisan soap makers have come and grown over the years to.
It is pretty cool, despite the design issues -- the fact that people can take their own design ideas from their laptop to reality via online 3D print shops is pretty futuristic.
Hello Michael.Wow, how nice to try such a razor. 3D printing is really a chance for normal people to try something. Hope the can make something out of it! Really enjoyed that Video. Thanks! Greetings, Jens
I love the idea of 3D printing, and it just keeps getting better: more material options and better tolerances will make for better products. Thanks for watching!!
Imagine everybody will be able to use such a printer. You pay that guy and he sents you the Data. Than you print it yourself. It would save shipping which often doubles the price like by sending USA Europa... Sounds great,or?👍😀
WHAT? You stopped?! No way, I'm outta here! Ok, it's the right thing to do to avoid nicks and I must do it sometime! ! The scent of this probably is the same with Razorock Emperor. If so, just excellent! Now I can go sleep, it's 2:12 in the morning! PS You know of course my country so I won't write anything!
The RazoRock Emperor was once known as "The Freedberg", for some historical background, and it was renamed after a while to be the Emperor - but yes, the scent is a clone of Aventus.
Hi Michael. Thanks for a great review. I've just received the Hydra 6 from Mayur, so I'll be very interested to try it. The soap looked really good. I'm in the U.K., by the way. Cheers.
Hello my friend, and thank you for your videos, always fun to watch! I am looking forward to seeing how you get on with the Hydra, I will have to go see if you have already posted your review. The soap is really good, I just want more scent!! Cheers!!
Kudos to you for using the 3D razor, what a departure from Ti or SS or Bronze. Nice shave Michael, a "well seasoned" shaver made it look easy. Not sure, but I'm thinking the CC soap made this shave a whole lots better. Blade choice here could be telling. I foresee more 3D printed razors on the horizon as opposed to injection molding of which there are numerous variants out there. We'll see. Another well done video. Enjoy!
The soap did help rescue this shave, the razor design definitely needs to be refined. I think you are right, more 3D printed razors are likely to come to market - especially because you can manufacture on demand as people order them! Thanks for watching!
Hi Michael. Nice shave all things considered. The Venture soap seemed very good. My problem with the plated razors whether this one or the other well reviewed one which I can`t think of the name of right off hand is their rather drab appearance. No chrome and their head angles are kind of jagged or the lines aren`t really pleasing to the eye. At least for me. Well constructed though I have to say. Thanks for the video.
Yes, I would agree, the razor has an industrial look to it, and it is as refined in terms of finish, but I love the potential of this new manufacturing option. These soaps are really good: simple and consistent performance, and in most cases strongly scented.
The soap is simply harder than the cream, and I think there are some slight differences in the ingredient list. Neither needs a bowl to lather, you can simply load your brush from the tub or puck and face lather with abandon! I like both the soap and the cream, but I might go for the soap over the cream if I had to choose between them.
You know, I have never counted! Maybe I will do before the next video, but I can tell you this with 100% confidence: more than my wife thinks is strictly necessary.
I guess the material made it sound too feedbacky almost to the point that seemed to be pulling but I guess it wasn't. I've been seeing your videos for some 3 years now. Greetings from Mexico!!!!
Mexico! The razor designer has let me know that he and a number of other reviewers have been getting very good shaves with this razor, but that is just not my experience. Let's see what the next design brings!
Hi Michael...i am vivek from India. Have you also noticed that on the day of haircut....even facial hair also are in a shock and they become harder .....making them tad more difficult to shave?
No, I have never really noticed this -- is this a thing?? I always shave in the morning and get my hair cut in the evening, so I don't think I would ever notice this. India - excellent, thank you for watching!!

Another checkmark for Canada!! Toronto is a great city, so many wonderful things to do, and fantastic food shopping (Kensington Market and Saint Lawrence Market, among others).
Totally agree flat blades don't work well. The overprized Pils razor, too head heavy as well, is flat bladed n almost impossible to achieve an acceptable shave. Cheers.
International viewer from Glasgow, Scotland here. Famed original observer of the advanced one hand rinse technique, alas you were perhaps showing off a tad in this video, that left hand right hand maneuver was downright gratuitous.
Well, I don't mean to brag, but I was recently certified by a Bolivian face rinsing institute, so you should expect to see more of these rather *advanced* techniques. Not to worry, I will of course caution new viewers to proceed with care -- these are PRO level moves! Check next to Scotland, thanks for watching!
You can get a perfectly adequate shave with lather worked on your face for less time as leaving low quality shaving lather on your face for 4-5 minutes would slowly dry up, requiring a reapplication. To get a more efficient shave you'd have to use techniques used by professional barbers (pre-shave, plus multiple applications of warm lather and hot towels to beard growth, making it easier to shave) -- /watch?v=Nqk2I8c7oDM Rarely does any individual on TH-cam go to this much effort (due to the time needed), though it would be interesting to see how much better the shaves were (over a two week time frame) produced with and without the extra prep work (while keeping all other factors identical).
I don't agree with his premise as a "must follow" rule; you can certainly use a lather as a type of pre-shave, but rinse it off and re-lather to shave. And yes, many soaps will be quite drying if you do this.

Michael Freedberg - Ya, I know.... I'm livin' it everyday, here xD. Oy Vey! ;)
Really cool razor! Great shave 👍🏻
That razor has real potential, and I am confident he is going to keep tweaking the design - he has a number of other ones that he has also refined based on feedback and his own experiences with the razors.
Another review so tremendous that we can’t even believe it!
Believe it!
Watching from the east of England!

East of England! Indeed, it would be good to be able to customize your shave, but really only if the tool helped you design the razor -- a cool idea!

Hey Michael. I liked it quite a lot. 😃 I seem to be getting a very smooth and comfortable shave.
Kudos to you for using the 3D razor, what a departure from Ti or SS or Bronze. Nice shave Michael, a "well seasoned" shaver made it look easy. Hi Michael, greetings from Brazil
Ah Brazil, I hope to visit there one day! Thanks so much for watching!!
That razor looks like something found in the Lego Universe. But it isn't the strangest looking one I've seen. 😄
It did not work well for me, but apparently others are having more success with it, and I am sure he will keep improving it.
Regards from Pereira Shavery, Portugal
Thanks for watching, and all the best!
Thanks Michael for the video . Over shave does that go for posh water :-)
Posh water fixes everything, I would say :-)
My mantra: never over-shave...well, maybe sometimes...
Hi Michael.. I live in Australia. Love watching your videos. Keep them coming!!
Australia, so cool! Thanks for watching!!

It looks like such an absurdly lovely place...
Thanks for watching!
Ciao Michael bella sbarbata e bel rasoio
Thanks for watching - check Italy off the list of countries watching!!
What’s the difference between the CC soap and cream? Do you need a bowl to lather both?

how many razors do you own ?Thanks for the videos there a big help
You know, I have never counted! Maybe I will do before the next video, but I can tell you this with 100% confidence: more than my wife thinks is strictly necessary.
I'm for almost anything Aventus scented. 😎
Something about that roasted pineapple scent...it's pretty good!
I guess the material made it sound too feedbacky almost to the point that seemed to be pulling but I guess it wasn't.

I don't see really anybody posting SOTDs with the Pils, and that might explain why. Thanks for watching!

Who would have guessed (grin)?? Thank you for watching, check mark next to Canada!

The lather should be on your face for 4-5 min before starting the shave otherwise you are paying money for nothing
Is that true?? I’m honestly curious because I’ve found with some soaps the longer they’re on your skin the more irritated and tight your skin feels.
You can get a perfectly adequate shave with lather worked on your face for less time as leaving low quality shaving lather on your face for 4-5 minutes would slowly dry up, requiring a reapplication.

borbetomagus it won’t dry if you keep mixing it
I don't agree with his premise as a "must follow" rule; you can certainly use a lather as a type of pre-shave, but rinse it off and re-lather to shave. And yes, many soaps will be quite drying if you do this.
It won't dry if you make a properly hydrated lather in the first place. I just don't see the need to do this, but if it works for you, keep doing it!
I am sorry to say, but that is a ugly razor.
No need to apologize, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
