Yeah, it was HUGE news when Barkley announced he was coming back. The excitement was off the charts. The looking back wishing you had done some things different is very common. You will forever be a legend at USC. Thank you, Matt. FightOn
The biggest mistake was not hiring Coach O full time after he finished 2013 7-2 after Kiffin was tarmaced. How things could have ended up so different. Coach O was a great recruiter, motivator and kids played hard for him. Just because he won a natty at LSU doesn't mean he would have at SC, but we never would have dealt with drunk Sark or Helton
Barkley, Leinart, TJ Mc Donald, and Taylor Mays should have never come back for their senior seasons at USC. Leinart would have been first overall instead he dropped and the others dropped out of the first round all together.
I've been yelling it for years now. Thanks for highlighting it again Matt. "Practices were tougher than the games." SC has gotten away from that for so many reasons. Starting with the 30 man roster reduction that influenced preparation. Now it's not clear that Riley even embraces what it takes to come out fully prepared for games. The NCAA is a corrupt institution that should burn to the ground.
This coaching staff struggles to "coach up" and develop the talent that they already have in house. This results in mediocre play on the field. Can you imagine Coach Riley being able to really inspire, fire up and/or motivate players???? Based on the public demeaner of this coach, I can confidently say: "Probably Not" = play that is uninspired, not genuinely fired up and shallowly motivated. Wish it could be different. Doesn't seem to be. :(

Matt true freshman at Ohio St game was awesome✌🏽
I was there and it was a great game
True, coach Carroll elevated the bar, but let's not forget what John Robinson & John McKay did in more recent times as well!! ✌✌✌
