    $2 vs $9 per person ?! Good way to save money and best way to see the Island.

    We were in St. Thomas on Wednesday, third port on our cruise. This video was spot on and the bus ride was a crazy adventure. The walk from the drop off to the beach was a bit of a hike and we ended up forking over the $9 to take the cab back but catching the local bus there and meeting some of the very sweet locals was really fun. Thanks for this great video!! And coki beach was ridiculously beautiful.

    Thank you so much for your amazing tip! my family and I just returned from our cruise vacations and one of the stops was St. Thomas. (we have being there before) Your video is right on. For everyone who wants to save money an go to a very nice beach just follow the instructions on this video. As for the walk, is not bad at all. 10 min. max. (at very slow pace). But after all the food on the cruise ship, the walk is much need it. Thank you !

      Well, the fare depends upon your destination. If, for example, you took the safari from the Tutu-park mall area (near Kmart), and get off at Smith Bay (to go to Coki Beach), or even stop at Red Hook, the fare is only $1. Not $2. The reason for that is because you're still considered within the country area or region. It's only when you're travelling from town to country (and vice versa) that the fare is $2.

    If you want to see this on a map, look up "Pueblo Supermarket" on Rumer Dr. The bus stop at "Rainbow Kid's" is immediately across the street. The bus drops you off near the intersection of Smith Bay Rd and Suzzanna Blvd. Then, you'll need to walk along Suzzanna Blvd (which becomes Coki Point Rd) for about 10 minutes... 850m (1/2mi).

    I will be on the Norwegian Epic next January and one port is St Thomas. Can't wait. If I am alone can I find a place to set my things down while I go into the water? Is it better not to eat ashore or did you find some inexpensive food along the way near the beach?

    • @eva251025
      @eva251025  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One I brought snacks from the ship =) The other time we ate at the small cafe by the coki beach. It was not too expensive.
      It always good idea to keep an eye on your belongings no matter were you are. But even if you go to water, you will be able to see your things. The beaches are nice! Coki was my fav. There is also ferries that go to St John. I heard St John has the nicest beaches. I will do it next time when I am in St Thomas. Enjoy your Trip!

      Yes, you can. We did this few times. And was catching the safari bus from both ports. Just ask the locals where to catch local safari bus (and don't believe it if they tell you that there is none), it's close to the other port too. Safari bus goes all around the island.

      Hi!
      1. you pay $2 per person when you get of the bus.
      2. to go back to the port you catch the same bus, going in same direction, from the same bus stop . Local bus is circling the island.
      Click on the link - I explain there on how to go back to the port th-cam.com/video/pZTABhamfMo/w-d-xo.htmlm6s

    Went to Cokie beach just last week cruised on 7/22/2019 did not like the fact that it had garbage, when you roll up it looks crazy with a sunken boat to the right of you. Then you get off the bus and go to the left and the beach is so close to the shore. The guy selling the umbrellas look like they haven't bathed in a century, however the umbrella's and chairs are cheap compared to the $85 we paid for a umbrella in Bermuda!! Just didn't like it but had to ignore it to enjoy myself in the water which was beautiful! Don't let the cab/bus ppl steer you to where you don't want to go!

    If you cant pay 9$ for a bus ride to take you directly to the beach, just don't go on vacations... Please! You just loose too much time walking back and forward taking chances, and taking the risk of getting lost for just a couple of dollars! Just pay what ever 9$ or 10$ and you will get there with no problem! I payed 20$ they took me in a beautiful ride around the island, the store with the panoramic island view and finally to the gorgeous beach! Don't be cheap! I agree with your traveling style Lucy... I do the same thing in the Bahamas. I am not short funded and travel quite a good bit. I find the local buses aka jitney's to ride and it has been fun doing it. Talking to the locals and the driver on the bus is always fun. You can ask questions and they do chat if you chat with them. I seen back entrances resorts, beaches, etc... I actually enjoy catching the various Jitney's for $1.25 a trip and just riding them all over the Island in Nassau. I saw neighborhoods, other resorts, and local restaurants. I talked with various cruise ship crew on a day off and some expats. I felt safe and to some tourists, like me, this is another aspect of the vacation adventure by being more independent and free spirited versus following the herds. The perk is saving a few bucks and walking a few blocks to your destination. So Lucy, please keep telling the spirited adventurers and budget minded--- who get a 'rush' from discovering alternative ways to achieve the same goals for less money---how to get r done!

      Correct... it's $8 each way to Coki beach and $8 back PP. If you can't bring $40 vacation to go from the boat to the beach and back at 2-3 desitinations total.. then you have issues about $$$ and shouldn't spend $$$ on a vacation trip.! My Rant isn't about the video.. it's about people wanting to save a couple $$$ but having work go out of their way to do it
