    To me it seems most repainted Oliver’s of this era are painted the wrong color when it comes to the white color. It’s not snow white it’s a greenish white. I forget the exact name of the color. When I see the white on these tractors I know it’s wrong.

    that is a nice tractor. every one i knew that had Olivers had real good luck with them. my uncle bought one it had the cat motor. he loved the tractor it was nice. but he got to big for it. back then it was all heavy tillage. he had about 5000 acres to farm. two hired men and two stiegers.the only tractor he bragged about was the Oliver.he ran JDs before it. rs then 5020s. he liked the Oliver better then the 5020s.he would say how easy they are to work on, he was a great mechanic like you.

      Howard Younger he had the 2255 then. That was a lot of acres! Still today it is. He must’ve liked green paint he owned all brands green lol. Did he plow everything? Thanks for watching Howard

      nice to know the number. thanks. for dry land that was not a lot you only plant half every year. then summer fallow the other half.when you summer fallow all you do is kill all the weeds right after they come up. he didnt plow. early on he would one way for the first pass in the spring.it is like the plows you use but with a single disc gange then use field cultivater with sweeps.if the weeds got to big he would use a disc. it pulls easier but not as deep.the dry land ground would not pack because it was never really wet. then in the later years he went to a noble plow. which is just field cultivater with 5 or 6 foot sweeps. and he would run it 6-8 inches deep. it would leave the stubble to help with wind erosion. it is all about building sub moister up it does also help the fertillity because it take a long time for the stubble to break down. he did have ACs and a International 815 combine. but ya green mostly.

    We had an Oliver 1650. Good tractor! Dad traded it off. Wish we still had it. Gasoline also. It drank the gas like there was a hole in the tank.

      I liked that over, direct, and under drive. You could really adjust the ground speed to the heavy or lightness of the crop. Too bad Oliver went under!

    Good review of the 1800. I sure like hearing the history of these old gals. I really like how heavy built the bathtub frames are. That is what caught my eye on the DA 9150 I use to run. Much heavier than the frame rails on the Deere's of that time. Most today dont even have frame rails.

    • @jakeziegler599
      @jakeziegler599  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fieldman12 thanks man ya I like that too. I don’t think it’s a good idea to use the engine as a frame. I know CNH tractors have a cast bathtub frame still not sure about anyone else

    It also has a telescopic steering wheel. You turn the center chrome knuckle to loosen and adjust it. It is standard right hand threaded. I found it out buy accident on ours.

    Good overview! You covered a lot of the main items on the 00/50 series tractors. I know you use yours a lot and it's good to see them still being used. Has the engine ever been apart? Or rear end? Thanks for the video!

    • @jakeziegler599
      @jakeziegler599  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      burningdinosaurs thanks for watching bud! Rear end had never been apart and it’s on its third engine. First time we overhauled it we put M and W pistons in it. Second time we overhaul it how are dealer had a standard overhaul kit not the M and W one and they cut us a real good deal on it but there was a noticeable drop in power

    Beautiful tractor Jake. Whoever repainted that tractor years ago did a great job. Your family had taken great care of it, did you buy it new? Unfortunately that is why I'm hesitant to loan things out. Seems something always happens. Take care, See you next post.

    I was confused with what they referred to as a Wheatland model? The front axle is back further? Is that what they are, and is that the only thing that makes it a wheatland?

    • @frankdeegan8974
      @frankdeegan8974 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go to tractordata.com or the tractor forms or Wikipedia and they will give a good description. looks like they are built for pulling implements lower to the ground mostly and not able to setup for row crops. like an M vs a W6

    • @jakeziegler599
      @jakeziegler599  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      PA Farms the options were a front axle like ours then they had the sweped back front axle that was still adjustable but sat back about a foot for tighter turning. Then they had the wheatland also that was a non adjustable cast iron front axle

    • @jakeziegler599
      @jakeziegler599  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      michael heinen no problem man! 1950 had a Detroit diesel the 1950T had a turbo 310 wakashaw. Yes I’ve seen a few very pricey lol

  • @cjfarms2239
    @cjfarms2239 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    our 1650 has the 283 in it too, it got over hauled a while ago and they turned it up too like 75- 80 hp, and she is one heck of the puller, you just push the throttle up and she goes, and pulls haha, dont even hardly need the 2 speed, but it is very nice like you said, ecsepsilly in the hills, dad says he has want too take it too a tractor pul cuz it pulls so good, but its original tire would not help it lol

    Thats a nice unit Jake. Are the bolts on the hood and side panels stainless or chrome plated. I was thinking on using them on this 1755. Thanks for the video.

    • @jakeziegler599
      @jakeziegler599  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      William Chambers thanks will! They are just regular nickel plated bolts. I’d use them because paint always gets marred if u have to take the shields off. And they look good

    Looks like a good solid tractor an Oliver is the only tractor I've never drove, it's a shame you can't go buy a good no nonsense tractor like that anymore. Is the over under 6 speed with a high range
    Or is it 6 low 6 direct 6high good video

    • @jakeziegler599
      @jakeziegler599  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corey Trout thanks man ya I wish one could buy a simple mechanical tractor new still. Yes over under is 18forward. This tractor just has the hydra power so it’s just low and direct 12 forward. No over drive

      The Sherman auxiliary transmission was an over under upgrade available on the Ford 8Ns and I think some Massey Harris but I am not sure. Here is the link:
