Highly recommend an auger for the clay. I live in NC with have the same clay. The auger was god sent. Also helps to soak the ground some before digging. Welcome to the south. 😊. Happy planting.
Thanks for the tip! I don't even know what an auger is but I'm going to google it. I knew there had to be a better tool for the job 😊 Thanks for the warm welcome to the south. And thanks for watching ❤
Oh my gosh. The auger looks intimidating. That's probably what the nursery uses. I'll get the manual type, it's less intimidating, and I'll soak the ground. Thanks again 😊
How do you really feel about those paper bags? LOL. I used to have to use those, too. It helped to fold the top down, still a pain but it helps a bit. What a difference in the side yard! Georgia clay is no joke! You did a great job. I think mulch makes such a difference. It's turned cold here, first snow of the season yesterday, so this video made me wish for more time to work outside. I did get to powerwash finally! But still so much I wanted to do outside, though. I can't wait to see more of your transformations. Take care!
LOL, you know me well, even though we've never met in person. I had a total rant in that video but I ran it across my three kids, two of them said maybe calm your tone down a little bit lol. And one of them said to post it because many people can relate. I'll try folding it down next time I have to use one. Hopefully it doesn't rip. I wish I could just have a green bin. I find it very strange that I had to pick a garbage company and a gas company. I don't remember if I had to choose an electric company. But in LA we just have one company that does everybody. I've talked to a few of my neighbors, and they said that the people in the community like their freedom to choose a garbage company. But isn't it more trucks on the road, and trash cans lining the street multiple days a week? It's a total adjustment to me. And I'm better off trying not to make sense of it and just going with the flow. I see it's cold over there! I just checked the weather at the house and it's 41°! It's 57 here in LA with a very light drizzle of rain. Much needed rain! I can't believe you already got snow! I am not ready for winter, I'm never ready for winter. At least when you get a bunch of snow, you really don't see any of the weeds or the leaves, etc. It hides all the work to be done! South Africa just began their spring-summer so I'm excited to escape the cold. Mulch is cheap and it looks nice. And the good stuff doesn't fade as fast. It always looks so good when it's wet. I like to buy a few bags here and there to freshen up the garden beds. In fact, I have a bag of mulch sitting on my front porch right now. I needed potting soil so I added a bag of mulch to my cart because I can always find a place that needs it. If I'm having Home Depot deliver soil, might as well get a bag of mulch to totally make it worth the trip. Thanks for appreciating me digging holes in that hard clay. I had no idea! I need to upgrade my gardening tools lol. Good night ❤️
Hint. We also use lawn bags in Ohio. I use a dust pan like I’m sweeping, it helps hold everything together so you can put it in the bag. Dust pan in one hand, use a rake or broom in the other. It works!
