Top 5 Cryptid Legends in the Province of Alberta, Canada - Canada Cryptids

  • These are 5 legendary cryptids from the history and mythology of Alberta, Canada. This province definitely has more than just 5 cryptid legends, I just wanted to cover some now and then some more down the road in another video. Cryptids are essentially creatures/beings whose existence has not yet been proven. Some think they are biological entities, and others speculate that they may be more spiritual/ethereal in nature or perhaps interdimensional. The cryptids I cover in this video are the Wendigo, the North Saskatchewan river monster, the Southern Alberta river monster, Bigfoot/Sasquatch and the monster of Lac Ste. Anne.
These cryptids legends vary quite a bit in significance and frequency of sightings. Some have only really been seen in the distant past, and others continue to be spotted currently.
Wherever you are on the spectrum of belief/disbelief, I find it can be interesting to look at cryptid legends within Alberta because it helps highlight Indigenous and European mythology and folklore. And some cryptids seem to be seen a lot more than others, according to eyewitness accounts.
Please leave your comments below with your thoughts on the subject, and I'd be stoked to hear about any personal sightings that anyone may have had!
Please like this video if you got some value out of it, and if you're interested in watching more of my videos please consider subscribing to my channel - I upload at least one new video per week.
I am pretty new at making videos, I greatly appreciate the support and feedback I have received so far - I appreciate all of you!
And thank you for watching, cheers!

Trivia, the Fort Saskatchewan small jail and once gallows site (he was hung) is said to be a haunted location. Apparently a ghost of a woman in past period clothing is sometimes seen. You should look into that maybe? Another lesser known haunted location is the disused train station at Smoky Lake, Alberta. Other wendigo legend is Charlie Fiddler of Ontario in the early 1900s.
