This is monumental! Your first PSVR 2 review! WooT! And you kicked it off with a beauty. What a showcase game. VR is either going to cure or aggravate my fear of heights. As of this game, the jury is still out. Great start to your PSVR 2 reviews!
I've watched a lot of your old reviews within the last year or so since I got my PSVR, so being here to see your first PSVR2 game review on day 1 feels pretty cool. 3 years from now, somebody might be just getting their PSVR2 and looking over reviews and begin their journey the same way lol
Great review. It is important for people to know that this game was designed for those who are brand new to VR. I think they did a great job with that in mind. Can you imagine this being your first VR experience? I was blown away by the PSVR Worlds menu screen as my first experience lol. PSVR2 has so many different games to experience. We are so lucky. Glad to see more reviews from your channel! I know you were anxious about everything but you are doing awesome. Thanks for everything you do.
This will be my first time with vr at home too. Got this bundle for free from Dell with rewards from work luckily. This looks awesome never seen a review of it until now. Looking forward to seeing what else they have for this tech
A "leisurely 9 hours" is just what I'd hope for from this game. I have no intention of rushing through without stopping to drink in the sights and trying out the side activities. A number of people have pointed to a lack of replayability though, and that's something that could be easily remedied if they make a version of the boat ride that works as an on-rails shooter. Make it happen, Firesprite!
I agree!! I'm loving the game n have absolutely no intention of rushing thur! I play about 20-30 min at a time maybe every other day (I work long hours),this n gt7 is all I play n I got plenty of vr games lol,I'm sure they will have plenty of dlc for this game it's way to good not too.
They need to make some form of arena combat mode where you survive waves of different machines. The combat felt great but it was way too sparse. I would totally come back to it pretty often to f up some machines
I have to replay it as the game glitched during my first play through (my headset came unplugged somehow while in game) and no longer allows me to add blaze to my inventory so now I gotta start over and hope it corrects itself.
This is up there with Saints and Sinners as a game that NEEDED a combat survival arena at launch. Hopefully we get one patched in where you can just fight endlessly spawning waves of Dinos 🙏
I absolutely love this game. I spent another couple of hours on it tonight thinking to myself “I’ll definitely be playing through this again!” 💪🏼😎 Fun slick battles and breathtaking visuals. I wish all games looked this good! 🤩
Excellent review by the best PSVR2 reviewer in the biz! I really appreciate the detailed review in a small bit, love the added recommend price as well. Great job Bryan!
This game is brilliant. Not sure why there are complaints about too much climbing, I love climbing in VR and they mix it up a lot to keep it interesting
Awesome Bryan. Can’t believe the day is here. I was literally shaking my knees and clinching my toes when I’d look down in horizon. It’s crazy how real it feels. Also, I’m glad you kept the same original review music at the beginning, I love it
I definitely was against the way combat worked when I read about it before the launch of the game but when I tried it I loved it idk why but it does work
Love your reviews Bryan. You've just sold me another PSVR game. If it weren't for you and your channel my VR library would be 1/10th the size it is. Thanks for another recommendation.
Great review! Honestly it kinda feels like more like playing Uncharted than Horizon, but I can understand them wanting to use the brighter colours and sci-fi elements of the world of Horizon as a showcase for the headset
Such a great and honest review. I agree with literally every word you said, even the negatives. I beat Aloy’s hunting challenge but not the climbing one
Great review man!! I am about 3-4 hours in and absolutely loving it!! I did notice the jittery smooth turning issue. Really for me that is the only downer in this amazing game.. I love the climbing and i am constantly stopping and looking out at the horizon( pun intended haha!!)
Brilliant review Bryan. So good to see you reviewing psvr games again. I can't wait to play this one. I have wait until April to play it. That time can't come round quick enough
Thanks and congrats on the first PSVR2 review, Bryan. - I got my PSVR2 on release day (actually the day before), after having been "away" from my PSVR1 for the past year or so. I'm back 100% and love every second, and I am thankful as always of all your hard work. PSVR2 Without Parole has been and always will be the gold standard, as far as I am concerned!
Best way to describe this game is it’s like a high tech amusement park ride without the motion rig. It’s not really about the action but about the scenery and what the psvr2 display is capable of, I guess the word “tech demo” is technically correct but it is a lengthy one and it’s worth playing if you own the psvr2.
Definitely a great game, I'm half way through now. I got a bunch of PSVR2 games lined up, but don't wanna rush through them, so hopefully I can complete this one by the weekend and then I can check out another game! I'm a completionist though, so could be an impossible thing to achieve. Great review! Keep it up 👍
I'm so scared of heights, which makes me love heights in VR games SO much haha. On Skyrim VR I jump off of mountains alot. I love flying in Eagle flight and NMS . Excited to play this!
Great review like always. I personally loved the story and the talking parts, but that's all subjective. The branching climbing paths along with the targets give me a little bit more of replayability as I would like to go back and experience the paths I didn't on my first run. Even as a VR vet this was my favorite launch game, I just had an absolute blast. I hope they add a Game+ and a higher difficulty for it. I definitely hope we get another Horizon game.
Ahhh your review makes me want to stop RE8 for a bit and get back to this game. The hour I played was very cool. I smiled to myself a few times, and I dont do that often. Great review Bryan! Glad to see you back at it
Only Thing! I would of like to of been able to replay the previous levels before I finished the game. I saw multiple paths that I didn’t get to go down. Great review glad you’re back ! P.S. Your voice sounds a bit deep Bryan, you can handle the added stress and anxiety of PSVR launch. 😅Some gamecats have expressed concern but I’m sure u have the energy for it. we were very upset because you didn’t get a review headset and have worked very hard for the PSVR community. I hope the whirlwind Is mostly over for you and u can concentrate on what you do best !
Beat Moss book 1 and am almost done with CotM and am about an hour into RE8. Otherwise me and a buddy keep getting trashed in Demeo which is WAAAY too hard. Lol. Love the VR2!!!
Start with Black Sarcophagus (it’s the easiest map) and use a Hunter/Guardian combo to get started in Demeo. It’s tough at first but take your time and it’ll get easier!
Congrats on your first PSVR 2 game review! It's like a brand new start. As always, it's honest and informative. As I played Horizon: Call of the Mountain myself, I agree with everything you said about it. Though, I didn't notice any ledge and rail flickering or frame drops. I do notice in PSVR 2 in general that some games have some kind of glitchy line flicker on the scene for a second. I don't know if that's the game or a headset glitch or graphical processing issue. The game is really fun. I like the climbing, tools, combat, and the visuals. I will play a second playthrough to go down the other paths I didn't the first time and maybe get the remaining target markers along the way. Can't wait to play more PSVR 2 games and watch your reviews! -Chris
Great review Bryan. Is anyone else struggling with the controllers? No drift or anything like that. I'm constantly pressing the PS button, the L1 R1 button, and menu button by mistake 😅 is it just my not so nimble fingers?
Haha I remember looking out over Gotham city as My first PSVR experience, and I was floored. Great review, of a game that does everything it sets out to well - and as you said, new comers will be in awe.
Great to see your first review up. It's so weird wondering which PSVR2 games to buy (especially ones unlike Horizon that have had little coverage) and not having a Without Parole review available. Guess I'll just have to wait a month for you to catch up before I start buying more games!
Got top of the archery leaderboard on third attempt, I swear there's some eye tracked magic going on there because I'm sure I'm not THAT good lol. Great review 👍
There is, there's a setting in the options for it. And if you fire a little to the side of a target far away but keep your eyes on it, you can see the arrow arch toward it.
As always, great review. True - this game could lack replayability if you are a trophy hunter or collector. But I am the type of person that will replay VR games compulsively if they look great, feel great, or have great moments. This game crushes it in all respects. I know I will replay this game from start to finish for years to come.
I can't believe I still haven't even booted up Horizon yet. I'm just at the end of RE8, but picked up GT7 last night on sale and can't wait to try that next. I love having too much game to take in at once.
Nicely balanced review as always Bryan, I loved every moment in the game, and will certainly be returning I’m surprised how many of the targets I initially missed given the fact I was looking in awe everywhere I went into it very sceptically as I didn’t think it would be anywhere near as good or as long as it was, I was most pleasantly surprised and have to say I enjoyed the climbing aspect of it, I also liked the way the battle system worked, I think if you had free movement, you would very soon find yourself entangled in the wire, I know during climbing sections I often had to unwrap myself due to changing my orientation physically, would love to see more from this franchise
It really is amazing. Walking by moving controllers makes it way more comfortable than using the stick. It's probably the only first person game that was fairly comfortable to play.
Hey guys... I've read about the ghosting effect in this game as result of reprojection 60fps to 120fps (RE Village and GT7 algo have these Ghosting). But here you said that is for TAA Anti-Aliasing. Explain that a little bit, please. This game does not use reprojection? What's the problem with TAA? Thanks a lot!
The demo definitely made me feel like I can wait for a sale, but I do want to play the full game one day. There's just so much meat on the launch bones that I don't feel like this is a must-have.
Good job with the review. Definitely gonna be picking this up when I get my PSVR 2 (hopefully in a month or two). While I'm a little disappointed that there isn't a bit more gameplay variety (especially more in-depth environmental puzzles), I think it'll be a great showcase for the hardware and I'll probably enjoy it a lot. Hopefully it can act as a foundation that other spinoff titles can build upon.
Ive been out of the VR loop for a lil while traveling but Im about to go grab the PSVR2 and realized most of my VR games are not backwards compatable. There were a few I was really excited to play again. Also a bummer what do you guys think?
Thanks, hon 💖 Pretty much agree with every single word. A beautiful game, the climbing is just about as good as climbing gets, as indeed is the archery, but it feels slightly like a missed opportunity. They could have done so much more. And why oh why oh why are we not scanning everything with a FOCUS!!?? Surely the single most crucial gameplay mechanic in Horizon and we don't even get to use one!
As someone brand new to VR, I think the complexity of the combat is perfect, and I’ve also been enjoying all the climbing mechanics, which are completely new to me. I personally love story cutscenes in games, so that’s the only point I really disagree with in your review. I only worry that the high production values and storytelling will be hard to match for all but first-party titles, which may be few and far between. I’m only 4 hours in, but so far it’s an 8.5-9/10 for me.
I haven't even fired this up yet -- I had no expectations one way or the other. It's good to have an idea of what I'm in for when I play it. I can imagine people being disappointed if PSVR2 was riding on this, but for me, there's nothing wrong for a good-looking climbing sim. I mean just look at Kayak: a straightforward idea that's nice to look at and a nice escape. I'm not surprised to hear that the story is ho-hum, so no disappointment there. All that to say though: *where is the next Astro Bot?!?!*
I'm looking forward to replaying this with different control options. Right now I'm using the gesture movement - I really like that for just walking around but when I'm in a fight I find it frustrating because I'm not always moving as I'd like to. I'm curious which option I prefer after a replay.
Great review! Did you notice any framedrops? Often when walking (even at the slowest pace) it kinda stutters for me. Very annoying! Haven’t seen anyone address this issue so I’m wondering if there’s anything wrong with my hardware.
Yea I’m really enjoying call of the mountain. I don’t mind the climbing I actually enjoy it. It’s a good workout and I sometimes stop and stare at the ground.
Hi played today first time i get like black ring effect only lasts for a few seconds soon as i look somewhere else it dissapears that is in screen any idea what this could be thanks
Hey Maxo! What you’re seeing are called “blinders” or “vignettes” and they’re supposed to reduce motion sickness. Luckily you can turn them all off in the in-game settings menu
I'm curious, I'm picking my psvr2 next week and I'm wondering the main character doesn't constantly talk like Aloy? I got half way through Forbidden West n got sick of her constantly talking n stopped playing it, awesome review I was wondering what I'm getting myself into and hoping the main character doesn't talk excessively so I can enjoy it's ambience
This is monumental! Your first PSVR 2 review! WooT! And you kicked it off with a beauty. What a showcase game. VR is either going to cure or aggravate my fear of heights. As of this game, the jury is still out.
Great start to your PSVR 2 reviews!
Here we go! The first Without Parole PS VR2 review. Historic moment.
Amazing work Bryan! 🙌💙
The time has come… THE REVIEWS BEGIN!
Hell yeah!
*HUZZZZZA*

Yes it's my first VR experience and it's stunning, wished I got into VR years ago now ;)

First PSVR2 review cats. The beginning of a new era of VR. Love the new sequence Bryan!
Time for the reviews! Thanks so much for your dedication to the community!
One of the only opinions that matter to me when it comes to VR! Can't wait to get a headset and try this out!
I absolutely love this game. I spent another couple of hours on it tonight thinking to myself “I’ll definitely be playing through this again!”
💪🏼😎
Fun slick battles and breathtaking visuals. I wish all games looked this good! 🤩
Excellent review by the best PSVR2 reviewer in the biz! I really appreciate the detailed review in a small bit, love the added recommend price as well. Great job Bryan!
First PSVR2 review!! Congrats!
This game is brilliant. Not sure why there are complaints about too much climbing, I love climbing in VR and they mix it up a lot to keep it interesting
Agreed. The variety in the climbing is wide, so it never really felt monotonous.
Absolutely, the climbing never felt like a chore. I love using the pick axes.
Awesome Bryan. Can’t believe the day is here. I was literally shaking my knees and clinching my toes when I’d look down in horizon. It’s crazy how real it feels. Also, I’m glad you kept the same original review music at the beginning, I love it
Great to have Without Parole reviews back!
So excited for the PSVR2 game reviews!
Yes, I'm excited for the reviews to start coming. Thank you so much!!
A PSVR2 review from Bryan - *now* it feels like we've entered the next gen of VR :D
This is a big review as it’s the first review for PSVR2!!!
Great review! Honestly it kinda feels like more like playing Uncharted than Horizon, but I can understand them wanting to use the brighter colours and sci-fi elements of the world of Horizon as a showcase for the headset

I came here looking for the best Horizon: Call of the Mountain | PSVR2 Without Parole REVIEW on youtube and that's exactly what I found.
8-9 hours playing leisurely well gonna be possibly 12+ hours for me as i'm much slower at games than the average gamer
It's crazy that it's time for the first review! Thanks!
first review, new era
WELCOME BACK BABY!!!! Really happy for you! And all of us...Cheers!
PSVRWP - best content for PSVR available, period. Thank you for what you do for the PSVR(2) community.
Nice to see your first PS VR2 review, Bryan. Fair comments throughout and love the new motion graphics. Looking forward to the future of the channel!
Looking forward to the future reviews 👍
Great review! The machine safari option is the most impressive thing I have EVER seen in a (VR) game.🤩
Finished it today, absolutely loved it
Definitely a great game, I'm half way through now.
I'm thinking about speedrunning this for fun. Would be a nice workout too.
Man, it's finally here. Let's go gamecats!
I think I may speak for a lot of us and seeing that review score again with that cat paw made me feel pretty happy!
Great review and congratulations on making your first PSVR2 game review. Here's to many more 🍻
Cheers Bryan, I’m going to chill, take my time and enjoy the scenery whilst playing this one.
The 1st PSVR 2 game review of the channel, the waits finally over lol
Ahhh your review makes me want to stop RE8 for a bit and get back to this game. The hour I played was very cool. I smiled to myself a few times, and I dont do that often. Great review Bryan! Glad to see you back at it
Great review. I just finished this yesterday and feel like you summed up most of my thoughts on it. Now, time to get that platinum.
Long have I waited for the Return of the Review King! 👑
Love your reviews, thank you and please keep them coming!
Beat Moss book 1 and am almost done with CotM and am about an hour into RE8. Otherwise me and a buddy keep getting trashed in Demeo which is WAAAY too hard. Lol. Love the VR2!!!
How is this version of moss compared to the psvr1 version? I played it on psvr1, Was going to buy the bundle as my next game
Start with Black Sarcophagus (it’s the easiest map) and use a Hunter/Guardian combo to get started in Demeo. It’s tough at first but take your time and it’ll get easier!
Thanks for you're review.ilike the ending plot with the pro's and con's...played it too at a friends house...great atmosphere
-Chris
Great review Bryan!
I like that you also touch on some negatives and gave it a fair score
The new era has begun! I havent played COTM yet beacouse i have so many games to play! But I will in the near future!! Great job Bryan!
I love the reaction of the guy when you were trying to touch his face. Hilarious! =)
Solid review! This is probably exactly the rating I would give it.
As always, great review. True - this game could lack replayability if you are a trophy hunter or collector. But I am the type of person that will replay VR games compulsively if they look great, feel great, or have great moments. This game crushes it in all respects. I know I will replay this game from start to finish for years to come.
Nice to see you do a proper review again. 😁
I can't believe I still haven't even booted up Horizon yet. I'm just at the end of RE8, but picked up GT7 last night on sale and can't wait to try that next. I love having too much game to take in at once.
Finally! This feels like 2016 again 😁
I am halfway through and love it thus far!! Cant wait for your next review
Very nice and accurate review as always, ty for all the work showing people a clear and fair view of what to expect from the games.
Nicely balanced review as always Bryan, I loved every moment in the game, and will certainly be returning
I’m surprised how many of the targets I initially missed given the fact I was looking in awe everywhere
I went into it very sceptically as I didn’t think it would be anywhere near as good or as long as it was, I was most pleasantly surprised and have to say I enjoyed the climbing aspect of it, I also liked the way the battle system worked, I think if you had free movement, you would very soon find yourself entangled in the wire, I know during climbing sections I often had to unwrap myself due to changing my orientation physically, would love to see more from this franchise
It really is amazing.
Walking by moving controllers makes it way more comfortable than using the stick. It's probably the only first person game that was fairly comfortable to play.
Great first review of this generation. Score was spot-on, too. Nice work, Bryan.
Top Notch Review as always!!! Loving Call of the mountain!!
LETS GOOO!! Nice intro dude
Let the reviews...BEGIN!
Ive been out of the VR loop for a lil while traveling but Im about to go grab the PSVR2 and realized most of my VR games are not backwards compatable. There were a few I was really excited to play again. Also a bummer what do you guys think?
I love the new intro! Edit and I love the review too lol
Nailed the review great job can’t stop playing this game lol
Recommended Purchase Price. Probably the data most of us needed. Thanks for the review.
Just finished this, loved it.
Thanks, hon 💖
Pretty much agree with every single word.
Ah, I missed that review theme.
I gotta admit…I’ve missed that intro stinger
The boss is back! Love the new intro!
Don't want too many spoilers so I'm just here for the like and I will listen to your thoughts.
Another great review Bryan!
Nice to see your reviews back.
One down, 39 to go 👌
Great review! Did you notice any framedrops? Often when walking (even at the slowest pace) it kinda stutters for me. Very annoying! Haven’t seen anyone address this issue so I’m wondering if there’s anything wrong with my hardware.
The climbing is amazing but ironically I didn't get on with simple walking and turning. Need to play more when my stomach stops turning.
All I can say is great review Bryan and I like the recommended Purchase Price
Playimg it atm anazing game great to see your first psvr2 re view
Yea I’m really enjoying call of the mountain. I don’t mind the climbing I actually enjoy it. It’s a good workout and I sometimes stop and stare at the ground.
