Honestly, looking at your vlogs (and reading how people reacting on them), make me thinking that your influence on the tourism, during your stay here in Belgrade, is greater than the marketing of the Tourist Organization of Belgrade in the last year. Keep up the good work, and consider yourself always very welcome in Serbia! 😎
@@dabbleandtravelThat is so true..You managed to take me on a journey across my country and hold my attention and be very interesting and fun in all this. That's nice of you ;)
Thanks for introducing me to Serbian spirits, can’t wait to try! Been binge watching your videos the last couple of weeks, and Molly is like the perfect girl- beautiful, sweet, & smart! You two compliment one another!
You are amazing couple. This video is better than any professional rakia or liqueur show I've seen on TV. And, congrats for highly articulate explanations , expecialy at the end of a video. I would talk nonsence if being on your place at half past twelve . Really enjoyed all of your Belgrade series. Thank you.
@@dabbleandtravel oh, yes, I've displayed this video to my wife ( she is professional chef and used to be a bar tender ), here is her message: Most of these are for beginners and tourists. Branko is very good, but don't put ice in it, chill it in refrigerator. And go to any drink store and buy KRUNA , it's always at rakia's department, it is Loza ( grape colourless rakia, 50%) made by Plantaze, Montenegro. Cool it down in freezer , at - 18 °C and drink it straight out . That is the drink for professionals ! ( I kinda agree with her about that ) And, have a cold beer 🍺 together, to combine and pull down a fire in stomach. KRUNA costs about 18$ for a 0,75 bottle in regular stores.
I've been to a wedding of a friend of mine, they gave me a small bottle with rakija and a rakija glass. The rakija was sljivovica (plum brandy) from the year 1975, had a golden color the best rakija I've drank. I have my grandfathers rakija from the 90's saving for my wedding.
It is a tradition to pour rakija into a "čup" at the birth of a son and bury it in the ground. On the day of the wedding, this “chup” with rakija is dug up and served.
Hey guys, glad you are enjoying Belgrade, April should be the nicest month, hope you are still there. I would warmly recommend to go and check out Enciklopedija Bureka place, as you seem to enjoy that dish so much. Think you will love Chicken Tikka Masala Burek there, curious about what you think of the place. Keep up the good work! :)
This looks sooo cool!! I need to take my bf here when he visits me in Belgrade next time. 😄 I've never heard of this distillery until your vlog! Love your vids
Damn Belgrade would be the perfect place during some kind of zombie apocalypse. There are so many places where you can sit, have a nice cold pint, and wait for it to blow over..
Fantastic! You are really into good things and you know a way to get to them, bravo! Traditionally, in the country, first thing in Serbia in the morning is rakia.
Every house in Serbia has rakija which is homemade. Distilled by family or received as a gift from friends and family, cousins, guests of the house etc. People drink rakija here not only as alcoholic beverage in bars, but many people start day with a shot, drink it as welcome to house, at weddings and funerals, to warm up during winter, to cure flue, to ease toothache... Rakija is much more than a drink :)
Rakija and Mese is the best think on world 🤩 to relax and enjoy the culture … I’m from Macedonia and like your videos 😍 your Ohrid videos are very very nice… but a video about Montenegro Budva would be maybe interesting to 🥂 Thank you for the content ❤️
Love your videos. You two seem like a really nice and warm couple. It's very refreshing. But oh boy, you do NOT mix rakija. That's SACRILEGE! Especially good rakija. The look on the bartender's face was priceless. I mean, he understood you guys are foreigners. He took it in good spirits, and there was no problem. But if a Serb had said that to him, they probably would've been promptly escorted outside. Of course, I'm kind of joking when I say this, but only half-joking :) As for what to do with the rakija you got from there... We have a saying that goes "The best rakija cannot be bought." It means that the best tasting rakija is the one that is given or received between friends. Keep up the good work. Your videos are wonderful.
Actually the reason for eating while drinking is much simpler that the aftertaste thing... It's so that you don't get absolutely plastered way too quickly
Thats all good and nice, but there is one very authentic place, epsecially good for your taste, a remote place outside of city area. It is called "Marinkova bara", be sure to visit this one!
Hey thanks for such an amazing video! Can you please tell me if getting the drone in Belgrade was an issue and is it okay to fly a mavic pro in Serbia?
In addition for that Marinkova bara place, among those cool places to eat and camp, you can find a nice hippie place (something like a caffe), I figured that you fancy those kinds of places. In those you can order some of the local "kraft" beers, very popular in Marinkova bara. And ofcourse, some of the best "rakija" is made there, cheers and make sure to film the experience!
love you both, tricky game Rakija, essential part prior to consuming Rakija is to have good breakfast or good mezze, notice the capital R in Rakija, I've compared recently Rakija with Whiskey and honestly undecided yet.
Dude....don't you ever, EVER mix top shelf Rakija with Coke!... perhaps drunk separately with Cola yes, it's goes good as I like to do at times. I like to feel the bite of the spirit & THEN wash it down with Cola. But NOT mixed, fark me dead!! The look on the guides face was priceless.

Old people used to take a shot of rakija in the morning with coffee. they believed it was good for Heart and organs. It makes you warm and improves circulation, which kinda makes sense. Ofc its a different story if you drink 2 much every day. Than you damage yourself
Found a store in Crotatia that sells Serbian and Croatian rakija for a good price and ships it to Sweden, I cant visit Serbia now but least some of the rakija can visit me.
All of us drink plumb Rakija. But i prefear Pear and Quince.Nothing beats the homemade one.I have made my own from my Williams Pear, but you cant drink much cus you gonna wake up god knows where. Its too strong
Whiskey can't compare to high quality rakija, especially plum or quince. Different league. Or grape rakija, not the one made from wine production leftovers.
in my place, when you make Rakija, you use only a certain variety of fruit .. if it is apple brandy, only apple is added, and no other fruit. Quince brandy is the most expensive, because quince is dry and you need a large amount of that fruit to make brandy ... you should not mix plums with other fruits, or any other. it comes to him as fake brandy ... raspberry brandy should be made purely from raspberries, not from plums in which raspberries are added ..

Raki and Rakija two different drinks
Serbs are specialists in Rakija. Every family makes it on the farm!
In Serbian villages that is how you start your day coffee and rakija at 6am. It is good for waking up, circulation of blood and appetite. :D
you put rakija in the coffee or have them separate?
@ARCSTREAMS Separate.

Yes, because quince have tart taste, that’s why it was used for jam, and fresh for compote.
