- It is my goal to regurgitate what Alan Harrelson of the Pipe Cottage, a sponsor of the Las Vegas International Pipe Show (LVIPS) has said to a wider audience. I hope you understand this is a very important message and I hope you will raise these concerns within the wider community. I don’t tolerate homophobia, homophobic bullying or any form of anti LGBTQ rhetoric not only in the TH-cam Pipe Smoking Community (YTPC), but in society in general. These behaviours are devastating for everyone involved and I encourage everyone to speak out against that sort of bullying. I ask - Do you condone or tolerate Alan’s (Pipe Cottage) views? If not, I also ask that you speak up against it, especially to Alan and Brian Levine of the LVIPS.
His remarks about LGBTQ persons hurt all. His rants are divisive and stated “I am spewing demonic filth” and banned me when I asked if LGBTQ persons were welcome at his Pipe Cottage social media platform. Our culture is changing and we must change with it and it starts with our industry leaders.
In addition to theses views he mocks and degrades anyone that does not share his opinions, which I now consider radical. I am talking about evangelical Christian condemnation, name calling and suggesting a civil war will break out between cities and rural America. Suggesting city people are less than human and don’t have a brain. He uses revisionist history to pander his ideals, especially about the Civil War and mocks and degrades those that use verifiable fact against him. He admits half his subscribers are not pipe smokers and based on his comments, he’s not here to make a pipe centric community as he says. When he considers the Pipe Cottage his Ministry, then it’s a religious cult.
Personally, I will not be doing business with Alan or anyone that tolerates his views. Anyone, associated with him - You will not get one more dime out of me. I think it’s about time someone in our industry acts like a champion and stands for LGBTQ persons when hate is thrown their way. I stand by another Member in the YTPC when I say, “Stop the hate”. Let that spread.
Below is a compiled list of Alan’s remarks that I have witnessed along with the referenced videos. This is what I’ve been subjected to on his channel for over a year before I unsubscribed and ran away. It’s not enjoyable and I am sorry if this ruins your day and your fun.

You have an incredibly simplistic conception of “love” if you think it’s mutually exclusive from condemnation. The most powerful love is often the one that withholds from blindly affirming what a child (or adult) wants when it’s disordered or otherwise unhealthy. Some “love” is actually damaging, like the sort of love that permits whatever the child (or adult) wants, even if it disordered or otherwise unhealthy. I thank God that some people don’t have children, can’t have children, or don’t want children - especially when I see these kinds of comments. And I pray for the children of parents who hurt them with an overly permissive and coddling “love.”

I’ve never heard Alan say anything about denying anyone’s freedom? I’m happy to be corrected. He thinks homosexuality is a sin, as traditional Christianity has always taught. That doesn’t mean he condemns people themselves, just the behavior. “Hate the sin; love the sinner.”

I’ve answered your question about a dozen times in the comments. Here’s how freedom of speech works. As much as he has the right to say it, including hate speech we all have the right to remain silent, question him, debate him and protest against him. That’s how freedom of speech works, don’t you love it? We also live in secular countries and his religion has no business influencing political policy for the rest of us. He can have his thoughts and his say, but we can counter him, all day everyday and those that complain are the one’s oppressing freedom of speech.

That is something that can not be changed no matter what any law or opinion has to say about it. You said you believe in "the freedom for all." Now, think about that. You're so close to getting it. I hope you can figure it out. I'm rooting for you. Then you can just come on YT and say, "you know what, guys, it finally dawned on me that Alan has the right to his own beliefs even if I don't hold them myself." As much as he has the right to say it, I have every right to stand up against discrimination towards a protected group of people. You can say what you want, but if your going to make that public, then it’s pretty much just like another person in the YTPC said, “then we are going to know who the fuck wits in society are” And we can counter or stay away from.
Let me start this off by saying that I love you, and all of Gods children. Yes, you are right, love SHOULD be the forefront of Christianity, and if it isn’t, then those who are calling themselves Christians without loving others unconditionally should check themselves. The two greatest commandments Jesus gave to us were to love Him with all of our heart, soul, and mind, and secondly to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
That means LOVE FIRST, judge second… not the other way around. That being said, God’s love and God’s path are straight and narrow, with clear rules and guidelines of what God, NOT MAN, defines as right and wrong. Homosexuality IS stated as an abomination before God, and therefore is wrong. Hell, God destroyed an entire city to dust simply because the fornication, adultery, AND homosexuality the Bible says, had gotten so out of hand. Where folks get it twisted, is that the Bible doesn’t say that Homosexuality is the ONLY abominable sin. The Bible teaches that all sins are equal: adultery, thievery, drunkenness, homosexuality, lying, laziness, etc, and therefore should be treated as such, but NONE of those sins should ever detract from you showing them the unconditional love of Christ. THATS THE KEY.
In your video, essentially what you’re saying, is that you agree with the Bible and Christianity unless it says something you don’t like. What you’re also saying is that YOU get to decide what’s right and wrong, and YOURE allowed to have an opinion on a certain topic, but Dr. Allan Harrelson and others who don’t agree with your lifestyle are not allowed to state their opinion, simply because you don’t agree with it. We can’t do that. That’s not true freedom. That is bigotry. Let’s not stoop to the level of defaming a man, his business, and his family in the process because we don’t agree with him. Grow up! Act maturely and fairly. You don’t like what he has to say? Cool. You’re entitled to that. But to defame someone because of that? Not cool.

Okay...I have to say this. Everyone has the right to believe and choose as they see fit. I am a Gay man YET I don't think Alan has done anything wrong. Yes hes a traditionalists. But it's NOT up to us to dictate to others whom is right and wrong. When we do that now we are guilty of the exact same thing that we are against.
My thing is... just live your life. LET IT GO, it's not worth your time to go into all this taking into account that their channel is their private channel. Lets just enjoy a good smoke. I am here to support you in what you want to support, but being gay is not pride. They are born that way. No o e need more freedom. But we all need to see all people need to be seen as people. Wouldn’t it be nice if we lived in a world where there was no need for the “alphabet letters?”Wouldn’t it be nice if someone didn’t ever have to identify as gay or trans or if they did we didn’t even bat an eye? Or even care to ask? Unfortunately, we don’t live in a world where we we see LGBTQ+ persons as normal people and there are plenty of people out there that advocate for their destruction. People want to take their rights away and throw them in the looney bin. Do you know what a purple triangle is and who used it? Someday ask me about the “Gay purge” in the Canadian military. Maybe you never got fed that soup for your protection? It’s not about giving them more freedom, they already have it as you’ve said and it’s about the people that don’t want them to have it.
Take a look at Pipe Cottage, Tunnel Take, Old Hollywood Briar and George Bruno for example. Bullies! Those that choose to follow them and laugh at their petty jokes are complicit in the harm they pander.
One reason for the pride, is because it’s their way of standing up against bullies. And that’s essentially what’s going on. Bullying leads to suicidal thinking. Suicide is a pandemic, it’s not a personal choice, it’s medical condition that can cause death. You don’t commit suicide you die from it. And if your born that way and are bullied into suppressing it, either by a parent or on the playground, you wind up with an undeveloped brain which leads to poor mental health later in life. Imagine being born in a body you don’t feel like is your own? Then get constantly bullied for it and told you’re diseased. It can be crushing for an individual and indeed life threatening.
I don’t speak for the entire LGBTQ+ community nor do I speak for those people in the YTPC. They have their own voice, but for them to speak out means opening yourself up to the bullies. In my community where I live they’ve asked me to be an Ally and that means I’ve agreed to stand up for them when hate is thrown their way, especially the hate tossed around behind their backs.
Trust me the LGBTQ+ community is watching and we now know who the buck wits in the YTPC are and we can stay away from. You have the freedom to make a choice so, you can unsubscribe and remain silent, you can question them, debate with them and as I have done protest against them. Pride shows the strength of solidarity, of us supporting each other, of having each other's back.
As much as people have the right to say it, the rest of us have the right to stand up against it. Freedom of speech is a double edged sword and the LGBTQ+ community is using it. They are more than justified and if they wave that rainbow flag, I’ll stand with them.
