Oh Angela you truly truly truly made my day yet again. I knew you would be posting this from your comments in your previous video of your Greenwich Peninsula walkabout video. As you may recall, mum and I have ridden the IFS cable car many times when going to at event at London Excel. We drive from Canterbury and park at the O2 and then take the cable car across the water to Excel rather than tackle the traffic for the Blackwall tunnel. One strategy though is to always book one way to give us other options coming back. There's a big reason for that. Namely the cable car can have very long waits in the afternoon with folks booking VIP tickets which guarantees them a carriage on their own. Hence very few available carriages for general commuters at that time. We learned this to our cost the first time when we had to wait 45 mins to get back to O2 one afternoon. There is the other option of taking a combination of DLR and tube back to North Greenwich station.
We are currently at the Vancouver Home & Garden Show at BC Place stadium and will watch your video tonight on my 32 inch tv at my Vancouver home. We also want to rewatch your previous video re your Greenwich Peninsula walkaround. And when we return to the UK you have inspired us to revist the area just to rewalk it all over again. I also learned that if we want to go into central London from the O2, instead of taking the tube we could also take the water taxi. More expensive than the tube but a very pleasant alternative.
Even though we are in Vancouver for a total of 8 weeks with 5 more weeks to go, we are very much missing the UK, as beautiful as it is here. So a big big Thank You for this, especially knowing this is coming from you. We've also kept up with WW's videos to remind ourselves of home.
    Take care and speak soon!
Ibrahim & Mum in Vancouver, Canada.

Now that is some excellent advice! First, parking at the 02, which sounds like a good idea, but I had no idea the cable car can get snarled up like that, so we were very lucky we could just hop on it after walking around the ExCel Marina. And yes, she offered me the water taxi combo when I bought the cable car ticket, but I just went for the cable car, although I did see the water taxi coming and going, so it looks quite regular. I'm a sucker for developments on the water, so really enjoyed walking around the whole area. Now that Chris and Sandra tell me they've walked up the 02 roof, I may be heading back again very soon! I hope you are enjoying Canada, even if you are missing the old place while you are there. All the best, Angela

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela One other cable car tip:
If you are going to Excel for a trade show, you are entitled to a discount on the IFS cable car. I can't recall how much the discount is but just mention to them the trade show you are going to (or from, if it's a one way ticket back to O2). They will ask to see proof of your event ticket and then give you the discount. This applies to return IFS tickets as well as any one-way ticket to or from Excel. And bear in mind what I mentioned earlier that it's best to buy a one way ticket from O2 to Excel to give you other options on return in case there's a long wait getting back due to all those folks riding on VIP tickets that guarantee them a carriage on their own even if there's plenty of room to share. Do really watch out for that. Bear in mind also that tickets can't be used for another day, so if you decide to abandon tbe IFS queue because of long delays and take another way across the river, you will lose out on any IFS tickets you bought. Also, when buying IFS tickets, ask them if there is a long queue upstairs that might be out of sight from street level. Mind you, sometimes the queue stretches all the way down to the street...and it won't move at all for ages. They could resolve this issue by having only every other carriage as a VIP carriage at busy times and that way, every other alternate carriage would be for regular travellers. I suggested this to them but I doubt they will implement the idea.

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela Yes I love waterside developments too and I'm sure that 30 years of living in Vancouver has played a large part in that. I have to say they have done a great job in North Greenwich and I'm excited to see it develop and really want to keep revisiting.

    Hello Angela
Thanks for the trip on the Cable car. We have done this once going to the O2 side. Sandra did not like it. We are having spring already as it is 16 degrees and sunny today. We have basically no snow this winter have to love global warming. LOL Hope all is well. Take care Chris and Sandra of Canada.

Greetings from the BC Home and Garden Show at BC Place Stadium...which looks very much like the O2 arena.

What a shame Sandra didn't like it, but we live and we learn. No winter there either? None here too, barring two weeks in January when I happened to film this video; the rest of it has been mild, wet and grey, rather depressing actually, especially all the flooding. All the best, Angela

To say that this is a beautiful view it means that you’ve been nowhere else but London Canary Wharf

Oh I enjoyed this cable car ride so much, what fabulous views all around! I think I'd feel OK riding a cable car too, I'm not particularly scared of heights but my son is, so no chance going on one with him. Thanks for sharing your outing, I'm really enjoying it xx

Thank you Debbie and, yes, I'm with you, not bothered by the heights, but not ideal for those of your son's persuasion. I imagine he might also not be that keen on theme parks? Best wishes, Angela
