  • Hi Friends! Today I'm sharing a mini Sewing Vlog and Pattern Review of the McCall's M8219, which was a pattern I started earlier this year. However, I never finished the garment and it remained in my UFO Sewing Pile. I finally finished this garment and you can hear all about it by watching this video!
    I hope you enjoy today's video!

    I like the design of this pattern, although I had to wear a brunette because the neckline is so deep. The self facing in the faux-wrapped section doesn't lay perfectly for my project. I don't like to do adjustment 😖. I'm super small busted so the gap wasn't too terrible but definitely there!

      Hi Renata! Oh this is so good to hear! I thought maybe I was being too critical! I know most commercial patterns are drafted for B cups. Hearing your experience makes me think it's definitely an issue with the pattern and not my D cup breast. Thanks for commenting! I'm sure people will enjoy hearing this!

    That top looks very cute with the cami. It’s good to know the quirks of a pattern too. It’s ok if a pattern doesn’t work and you tell us about it.

    That top is so very flattering on you, the fabric is gorgeous, ld wear it with a cami too as I wouldn’t be happy with showing “too much” xx

    I’m glad you were able to make this pattern work out for you in spite of the gaping issues. Happy Thanksgiving 🍁

    This is an attractive top which is also flattering. I like it over the white camisole. I find that that recommended finish on a wrap top never works well. I’d use a neck band so you can put a little tension in the neckline.

    Hi Tea, may I say that despite the issues you have with the pattern, it turned out extremely well and looks great on you WITH the cami! Well done. Love your system of tackling UFO’s. Best regards from Oz

      Hi Laura! Thank you! It was a little frustrating getting this pattern to work, but it turned out great in the end! I hope to get a great deal of wear out of it before I donate it.

    I agree 100%! I am a B cup but verge under to an A cup. I found the same issue with the neckline. I've considered taking it apart to make adjustments but I don't think it is worth it. It is a shame because it could be a nice top.

    i have that fabric! i have written down that it's 93% lyocell/7% spandex. your top is really cute. sorry for all the issues you had with the pattern.

      Awesome! Thanks for sharing the fabric content. I knew it wasn't 100% cotton. But I couldn't remember the exact fibers. It's a nice fabric. The info you provided was just enough for me to find it online! I spent a long time looking for it 😆 Thanks for watching!

      Hi! I guess I should've said that. Sorry. It means unfinished objects/ projects.

    Never have been able to get a wrap to fit without to much spilling out.

    this garment does seem finicky, but it looks great on you. I'm having challenges with an ITY blouse - the sleeves just don't fit right and the slippery fabric is hard to work with. it is my first top to make, so I chose some difficult fabric

    • @crumpetsteaandsewing
      @crumpetsteaandsewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mel! I can't imagine sewing this pattern with an ity. That sounds like a challenge with this type of pattern with all the issues. Wishing you success! 😃

    I wonder if it would look better with a cotton jersey rather then a viscose jersey.... still cute though!!

    I would also be concerned about the cleavage and I think it looks great with the camisole. I like the scribbly fabric you chose.

      Hi Nell! I was very concerned with the cleavage. The camisole is definitely a great way to fix the problem. Thanks for watching!

    Nice top! Could you sew down the front facing? or would it work?

    • @crumpetsteaandsewing
      @crumpetsteaandsewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Donna! I'm not sure that would work. The facing isn't designed accurately. You would definitely need to fix the issue before sewing it down. In my opinion.

    I wasn't impressed with the pattern until I saw yours with the cami
