  • If you've dropped your RX100 and its screen rotation no longer works like it should, this video might help you figure it out.
After I dropped mine about 3 feet, the screen rotation was opposite what it was supposed to do. It turns out there is a tiny magnet hidden inside the back of the screen (not the larger one for making it snap back into place!) that controls the rotation, and is easily dislodged when the camera is dropped. Fixing this magnet back into its correct rotation will solve the issue!

It would be possible, but that's not currently something I have the time to do. If you'd like to try making one yourself, I think something similar to what I did but using a microcontroller with build in bluetooth (like the ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico W) would work well.

I have the same problem and indeed tried flipping the magnet, but no luck. Where you able to get any further yourself? I also observed that with the sensor out it will still be upside down (of course there is only a 50-50 chance of course in terms), but when I flip the panel up it still flips up as well (apparently that's not using the sensor). So I guess the initial orientation at startup comes from the magnet sensor.

@@Thunderbird2k85 Do be aware there are several magnets - you might need to play around with them a little bit. For me, the one I showed was what I needed, but there were a few others around the screen too.
