    Hey Tristan, I’m curious - I come from an IT/systems management background, so I’m curious about how you test bridge systems/engine control software, etc when out of the water and performing upgrades. Clearly, you can’t light up the diesel and start turning screws in the shed. Are you able to somehow simulate conditions in order to test the control interfaces, etc?

    I would clean, sand, de-rust the chain locker, but then I'd paint it with an epoxy based paint, and then repaint the inside of the locker with a thick coating of Rhinolining to give it a completely sealed tough rubber coating. Then you could pressure wash the chain locker and the finish should last for several years at the least.

We wouldn't want to have UV damage to the paint in the off season!" "Our insurance company wont let us weld on board!" As expensive as some of these yachts are, they really are fragile things, aren't they? To each their own, I guess.

      I think it has more to do with the level of finish required to keep a boat looking like new..Not all yachts are kept to that standard.. The welding issue probably has something to do with the number of yachts fires involving welding...not the fragility of the boat.

    • @ryano.5149
      @ryano.5149 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisjohnson6765 That's sort of my point though. Steel has significantly less chance of burning to the waterline anyway, and most folks wouldn't even be able to tell if a tug's paint is a little bit faded. Also, with a tug, and a tug's fendering, you have to worry less about laying up against a pier...within reason, of course. If the tug gets scratched, who cares? Couple bucks worth of sandpaper and paint, and you're good to go! Not the case with these fiberglass yachts. They're beautiful, don't get me wrong, but one of these yachts would be constant anxiety for me.

    Ahhh maintenance - does it ever cease ??
    Simple question Tristan, many yachts have a Caribbean and then a Mediterranean season, how do they manage all the maintenance that you do every year when you are on the hard ??
    As always stay safe and keep having fun.

    Just curious, I know it says 10 mill, but shes knocking on a bit now. So, realistically, what would you expect AWOL to make if listed now?

    add a few glass handling suction grips to your boatsan supplies.
    you can attach them to the hull at the waterline and tie a skiff off them, while cleaning the hull.

    It's funny how cheaply made such rich peoples toys are.

    Hi Tristan, It seems to me there could be a way to retract the entire radar etc. to get under all those bridges. Guests are never there anyway..If you need 8 feet..lower it down with a button.

    Have you had the chase boat's bow thruster replaced yet, after it fell off and almost sank the boat, you said at the time that it would be replaced at the end of the season, it would be good to see a video of that.

    Another good video SYC. Is there a wood or metal grating that goes in the bottom of the anchor chain locker?
