    Very cool stuff.My friend worked on a privately owned Feadship...The Seneca...for 7yrs...docked in Stuart Fl...sometimes Ft.Pierce.When owner wasn't on board I was able to stay on it for weeks at a time.I loved it but it was pretty demanding when it came to your time if you were crew. When the owner wanted to go...you better be ready...fortunately she & I shared a house in Jensen Beach & she knew her dog,Stanford,was safe w me!

    Man, what an incredible video. 1st off. Awesome camera placements and editing.
    2nd. That is a scary job coming away from the cats on port and starboard side.
    3rd. The amount of engineering & electrical engineering involved in these ships is CRAZY. I can't even imagine what the blue prints look like when it's being built. The electrical engineering is like freakn NASA. I mean, a sensor on every single window that shows open/closed position? The amount of skill it must take to plan out and run the wiring on these yatchs is unreal.
    I could watch videos like this all day. 1st time I've ever watched one.
    Thank you for showing what it takes to move a yatch successfully.
    I'm hooked now.

    Thanks for the behind the scenes Tristan. Is your checklist commercial or something specific for awol. It was great to see you go through it. Great reminders about system checks, safety equipment and communication. We went to Bluetooth ear pieces and conference calls instead of radios. You set your phone on the binnacle have your ear piece in and talk to the crew. Handsfree. Radios are the backup. Play with it. Wind can be a little tricky.

    Hello Capt.
    In a previous video you mention one of your pet hates was about privacy onboard. I can understand whilst you have guests onboard you have to sleep in your tiny cabins...but surely as captain, once you don't have guests, you and Giv could sleep in one of the guest suites??? Can't believe that you guys don't use the guest facilities during the off season. Happy sailing.
    Cheers from a sunny Sydney Australia.
    PS: You guys should think about working out of one of the many ports around the Great Barrier reef. With a very low number of Covid cases surely this would be a good option to take advantage of the many multi-millionaires in the Asia Pacific rim.

      Sorry, no Keith you are wrong, slow is NOT pro. Observation, or lookout is pro. I can only conclude you are not a pro yachtsman. Keep learning.

    • @keithmny
      @keithmny 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@robertstancer4469 Slow IS definitely pro, anyone who manoeuvres a vessel approaching a dock at any speed but slow is despite having all the observation provided by their own eyes and other assigned crew a complete and utter numpty. It doesn't matter how much observation is taking place because the faster you go the less time you have to react to unexpected issues that can crop up . I never was a yachtsman only a lowly harbour pilot.

    • @robertstancer4469
      @robertstancer4469 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keithmny This is the type of boating cliche that should be avoided. I fact avoid them at all costs. In the the UK we call what Mr Keithmany posts above as 'stating the bleedin obvious'. Wots wrong with berthing 'stern to' at 15knots heh! Keith baby?, perleese. As a rear admiral, (so i out rank you), it does not matter how slow you are going, if you don't see it, you'll hit it. For an example see Cpt Tristans video berthing a Porto Rodondo, Sardinia and his groundline incident.....all done at VERY LOW speed AND he says he had lookouts posted. If you are going to give out advice Mr Keithmany please make it of value. The 'pros' i know just laugh at this type of nautical nonsense. Hey, he's some you might like; Breast is best! Or, Hair of the Dog!........

    So I heard someone once say that aircraft pilots LOVE their checklists (which you are carefully and dutifully going thru 👍👍👍) but long before pilots discovered them, submariners invented them. To this day, I am a huge fan of checklists from my submarine days. I have one for my 21 foot boat which pales in comparison to yours but is no less important than the checklist you are going thru. I only hope that other boat owners can learn from this video, the importance of an organized and thought out checklist!

    I am always amazed at how far the anchor is out from the boat. What is the depth/distance ratio? I guess my concern is running over it or are the ground lines doing th eholding and the anchor is just for docking and security? [I never go close in front of another anchored boat.] If there was a storm, do you 'tension' it up a bit to stop the stern hitting, or do the ground ropes do that? great channel of course blah blah....:-))
