Parrots in captivity have what my vet calls "conditions of abundance" regarding food and safety, so they often tend to be hormonal much more of the year than they normally would in the wild. It's important to learn to control this by altering environment and correcting behavior. It's for the bird's own wellbeing, since continuous hormonal arousal can cause serious medical problems, especially for females. My own lovebird hen has advanced endocrine disease as a result of this (she's a rescue and we think was used as a breeder bird), and she suffers from gout and a general frailty in her legs that makes it uncomfortable for her to perch. She lives in a modified cage with a soft bedded floor and no perches.

Bolt cutters, which is worse. Parrots can learn to be very gentle with their beaks, but the potential is there for tremendous harm. It's why you usually don't allow large parrots and small ones to interact. The size difference between Apollo and the caiques is minor enough that they might learn to play together successfully with close supervision.

But girls were a little rambunctious, but I love how Apollo knows he is so much bigger and he is much gentle with them.

Aww both Apollo and the twin girls seem to be having so much fun 🥹 it seems like they’re all overwhelmed with both excitement and trying to be mindful of the size difference! It’s really fascinating how much consideration your feathered kiddos have-the fact that your training and their education from it has made them bond this much is both so cool and so cute!!
With that in mind, mayhaps a sturdy rope toy they can play tug of war with would help 😂

This reminds me so much of "K'eyush the Stunt Dog" and his BFF "Sherpa" play-fighting in several Y-T videos.

Its funny how Apollo is aware the size difference and is making a concerted effort to not be too rough.
