Did you visit Sri Rangam temple in Trichy, Tamil nadu? It is more than 2000 years old . Did you visit Mahabalipuram near Chennai? It is more than 2000 year monument. Kashmir is also known as Land of Lord Shiva . There are many old Shiva temples in Kashmir too
Yes. Kashmiri saivism is similar to our Saiva sithaantham .
We should not mislead people from other countries with false information. It will bring bad reputation to all in India. Srirangam temple is one of the beautiful ancient structures in Tamil Nadu. But there is no authentic historic evidence to suggests it to be that old. In fact it can not be older than big temple Thanjavur that has clear evidence for the period of its construction built by Raja raja around 1000 CE. The design and patterns of the building themselves will reveal that. The very high and magnificent compound wall was built by the robber turned poet Thirumangai Alwar from the huge wealth stolen from the Buddhist vihara of Nagapattinam especially the huge statue of Buddha.
Trichy and mahabalipuram is well known to people here , many of us hve visited many times ;
Kashmir is a new place for us. And Chandru is giving good coverage ;
Ratnam had planned to shoot Roja in Kashmir, but extreme terrorism there forced him to shoot the film in other hill stations resembling it. Shooting locations included Coonoor, Ooty, and Manali, Himachal Pradesh.
