Bit of a long one today! But who knew how many ways there are to fly a drone? I don't have an FPV RC 3 but that would be a 7th way to fly!..... Use the chapters to skip to the bit you want... :)
I have the FPV Controller 3. I haven't found out if the Goggles need to be involved when flyingbNeo with it. Mostly because I can't GET Neo until October 8th earliest. Grrrr.
Bought this for my 9 year old as his first drone and I’m sp impressed with how genius it is for someone of his age… yes wed love obstacle avoidance all round… but bang for buck, it’s brilliant
It looks a great little drone Ian. Looking forward to your next review of it before I add it to my ever growing wish list. Though it is a bit noisy. Keep the videos coming. 👍👍
Professional drone pilot here, this is the first time ive seen your videos! Even knowing everything about it, i wanted to keep watching lol great video man! I have the avata 2, the mini 3 pro, and i still ordered two of these lol.. one for myself and one for the wife! I love how your dog wasnt bothered at all the whole time lol..
G8 video as always Ian. What a fantastic little bit of kit. The versatility and potential is mind blowing for the price. A big bonus are the prop guards which make up for the lack of obstacle avoidance.
Hi Ian. 😃 Thanks for the great video. Yes, the NEO is really fun. And I can already say that I use it much more often than any other DJI drone before. That's clearly because it's so small that it fits in a belt pouch and is always with me. And it's ready to use at the touch of a button. - I hope you continue to have fun with the NEO. Best wishes, Sven
Dentist anyone …😂😂 Now then Ian, this is the vid that I’ve been waiting for, well done for sharing this. The FPV part was the section that I was really impressed with and the (barking 😂)voice control is amazing. Where I have the Mini 3 Pro and N1 controller, it appears that I’d have to buy the goggles 3/hand controller to use with just the Neo. Shame there isn’t a pair of goggles that are compatible with both the Mini 3 Pro and Neo. Maybe they will do an updates in future. Nice work for editing this out and provide an unbiased review. Cheers
Obviously with watching this video late you have found how to take selfie? 🤣 on your phone where it says .ie follow or dronie, you can touch that and put it into manual mode..then to the left you will see you can change from video to photo and vice versa 😂 Great bit of kit even for professionals to use as 'B' roll as its practically indestructable 😂 By the way. Love your vids 👍
Hi Ian. Very comprehensive video! Thanks for all your work making this. I have been taking photos using my iPhone with the drone set to Manual mode. It’s very convenient as I don’t need to carry a controller and I always have my phone with me anyway. However, I’m finding that I cannot take photos in 4:3 when using manual control in the phone app. Even though the settings in the phone app are set to 4:3, the resulting photos are 16:9. When I use a controller (NC3 or RC2), I can set the ratio as 4:3 and that is what the resulting photos are; but whenever I go back to manual control on the phone the photos are in 16:9 (which also means they are 9 megapixels, not 12). Have you found that, or am I making some kind of mistake? Thanks again. UPDATE: Please ignore all of the above! The Fly app has been updated this morning and the glitch has been removed. For clarity, using the Neo with only my iPhone and the app on Manual mode, setting photos to 4:3 now does produce 12 megapixel 4:3 images.
Very nice Ian. Sure wish they were shipping to the USA already. Cheers to Teddy and friend. The pups sure seemed to be enjoying the sunny weather. Oh you forgot to mention full Acro FPV with the FPV RC3. Judging from some of the videos I have seen the Neo does quite well there as well. I expect mine to arrive here early October.
The follow mode locks onto your head position and follows its route exactly, hence it avoids almost everything, to be honest it’s very robust because it’s so light, impressed so far. Great drone for the money but you need the RC to adjust to better camera settings such as sharpness reduction.
Best introduction to the Neo I have watched. Thanks very much for your time and effort Ian. I bought the Neo Combo sadly have been unable to activate Neo so far. My smart phone is not compatible, so now have to decide my next move another SM seems overkill to me as mine is almost new, so wonder if a RC2 would be a good alternative if I can activate the Neo with the RC. Still looking for the answer to my problem. Enough of my troubles not the Neos fault mine for having the wrong SP. 😒😒
I absolutely love it. I can't wait for a newer version with a better camera, but for the price I've paid, I'm not complaining. This has got to be the cheapest thing I've ever purchased from dji, lol, but I get what you're saying. I can't see options for the camera, but I'm sure after your review, there will be working on an update to make it easy, maybe a custom button. Well, as usual, thanks for sharing 😁 👌 👍 🇬🇧
Yeah; when you have over 10 drones and you're talking live into a camera, your memory sometimes gets fogged :) Although I do use it with the Mini 4 Pro
Hi,its good for the price but it does have its issues, picture quality could be a lot better, tracking is reasonably good but it helps if you where something bright especially when riding . Voice commands don't always work, abd make sure you always take your phone ive had it a couple of times it just wouldn't come down and had to use my phone.dont get me wrong its not bad but definitely far from perfect, im sure there will be a pro or version 2 round the corner to compete with the new hover line-up.😊
Hi Ian, very informative video thank you but what's this about registering? Things have changed since I last had a Mini1 about 3+ years ago. Does this require registering? Thank you for any assistance.
Definitely a nice toy, but I find the high pitch motor noise to be slightly annoying, and perhaps not the most covert drone to be flying unnoticed in a public area because of the noise. Hope that is something that Dji migh tbe able to address in future versions, still for that money what can you expect? Cheers Ian
So I’m guessing it also work with the fpv controller ? Just the 3 or 2 perhaps ? Is it just also with goggles 3 ? Not integra ? Curious how this in full sport mode would look flown with the fpv controller as well as does it have all the same gps and gyro info for post stabilization ?or does it only and already stabilize the clip in camera ? Can it be turned off for post stabilization ? Sorry, a lot of questions , but I know you’re very thorough so I’m hoping for at least some answers. Thanks in advance
NOTE: The Fly More Combo you acquired in the USA does not come packaged with the same items in the box as you received in the UK. 😨😏🥺 Thanks for the video. Enjoy the Neo!!! 😎👍🏼
Hi Ian, a slightly different question if I may. I am an artist/content creator. I want to paint plein air in the New Forest area. I know according to Google searches that it seems that no flying is allowed on or over national trust land, Crown land or public areas. So I do not plan to use my DJI mini 2 as I do not wish to break any laws. But can I fly my little selfie camera hover X1 in follow mode where it is simply a few metres behind or by the side of me? I typed in the question can I fly in the New Forest, and despite the rules, Google found there are many videos of flying drones in the New Forest and even FPV. So I have watched your videos on drones and laws for years, I would love to have a definitive answer before I get there this week if possible and thank you so much in advance cheers Paul
I am never a fan of blanket bans of drones spanning large areas of land; the National Trust is a perfect example of a stupid, blunt ban that takes no consideration of the actual landscape and likelihood of anyone being disturbed. The New Forest also has a blanket ban, but is smaller and tends to have people nearby wherever you are. It's not necessarily about the height of the drone; think about the noise (new video on how noisy this drone is coming soon). If I had to fly in the New Forest, I would use mhy MIni 4 Pro as it's pretty much the quietest model out there and still under 250 gms. That said, it's still breaking their blanket no fly rule.
@@IaninLondon true enough and thank you I will play safe and leave my mini 2 at home and not tempt fate. I will I hope find discreet times to do some b roll with the hover. Thankyou for you kindness and replies best wishes Paul
Yep. If someone is a DJI Product fan, they almost certainly have multiple controllers on hand. I have RC-2, RC-N2, Goggles 3, Motion 3, FPV Controller 3, A phone, my voice and 10 fingers 👉 I've no doubt they will add Goggles Integra, Motion 2 and FPV Controller 2, all of which work on Avata 2, the Big Bro O4 drone to this little guy. I bought it mostly to ssve AVATA 2 from clumsy moves as I learn Full Manual/Acro moves. It has so little mass, its not super fast, and seems nearly incapable of hurting itself badly. Provided you can AVOID ACTIVE VOLCANOS 🌋- Lets avoid that fate, shall we? Ian? Oh COME ON! Its just a wee baby! 😮
If you are looking for a name for this “Little Beast” as you so aptly describe it, please consider the name Ariel. This epic presentation of yours put me in mind of Alexander Pope’s (mock) epic, “The Rape of the Lock.” I can imagine the “Little Beast” buzzing around Belinda as the sylph, Ariel, does in an effort to protect her before the Baron snips off her lock of hair. In a modern day reenactment of the scene, the “Little Beast” now called Ariel would be an apt replacement for the sylph. (Ariel-Lion of God). An example of a symbiotic relationship between poetry and tech. Cheers, my friend, from Wisconsin, U.S.A.
Given the lightweight plastic used in this, it reminds me of my ill-fated flight into the volcano with the Mini 3 Pro a couple of years ago.... Maybe I will call it Icarus to remind me of flying too close to things that can cause its doom..... :)
@@IaninLondon Icarus would be a fitting name, indeed. Your videos associated with the volcano were great. Your work is informative and entertaining and I appreciate all I have learned from you.

A nice bit of equipment though very noisy. As a Mini 4Pro owner I would not see the need to purchase the Neo however. Good for folk on a limited budget or buying their first drone though it may antagonise the anti drone brigade even further!
The prop noise reminds me of the Air 1, nobody liked its noise. Not a good thing really, high speed tiny props make high pitched whining racket. Since it's a sort of super-mini-mini I'd hoped it might prove to be the stealthiest drone yet. Not with that whine it won't! Unless it's the mic emphasising the pitch?
Nice garden too 🙂 Thanks for the demo's

Fully agree.... It's genuinely horrible, but not quite as loud as the Mic was making it sound....
Is it possible to fly RC-N3 with goggles 3 and the neo?
I would have to try that, because you would have to pair the N3 to the goggles...
Not worth buying the full money if you have the RC2 just purchased extra battery & Charger. Love it!
Precisely!
