JohnFulton, What was he supposed to do, put on his PJs and tell them goodnight in the hotel lobby. ''Good luck fellas, see ya at the gig tomorrow night."(As if they'd be there.) Not as heroic, as much as just plain practical.
It was the early sixties in Passaic new Jersey, I remember taking a young woman to a dance at the American legion hall in the town of Totowa .The young woman was joeys sister.
Joey was actually in TWO films: 1961's "Hey Let's Twist" and 1962's "Two Tickets To Paradise." It's from the latter movie that this clip was taken. Joey's record of "What Kind Of Love Is This" reached #18 over a ten week run beginning August 25, 1962. He only reached the Top 40 one more time after that with "Hot Pastrami With Mashed Potatoes Part 1." It reached #38 in 1963.
@@Bopper1959 Someone else posted that the film clip is actually from "Two Tickets To Paradise" so I was wrong and as you mention, the actress is Jeri Lynn Fraser.
Love the song. However, in 40 years, I've never seen the movie. Must have been one of the Drive in American International "B" movies like Frankie & Annette were doing? Never on AMC or TMC.
Yes, the movie is called "Twisting In Paris" and that's where this song is from. This is a clip from the movie. Joey Dee plays a waiter on an ocean liner headed for Paris and he falls in love with a woman on the ship played by Reta Shaw. Then when he meets her daughter (the girl he's singing to in this video) he falls in love with her. Her mother (Shaw) catches them kissing and throws her daughter overboard where she is killed by the ship's propeller. When the ship gets to Paris, Joey Dee begins touring with his Twist show and the police are investigating the dead girl's disappearance. I won't give away the ending, because you really must see this movie.
I remember Joey Dee refused to stay at a hotel because it refused to let the black members of his group stay there I've always respected him for that

I was taken to the Peppermint Lounge before I shipped out in 1967. That same night going home, we met Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali). Wow!
Excellent tune and group.
Still great in 2023.
Haven t heard this song since I was a kid. 👍
Back in 2022. Love this song so much. Never gets old!
Great song. Written by Johnny Nash ("I Can See Clearly Now"). And it's a twist ballad with ostinato violins. From the movie "Two Tickets to Paris."
Violins and Horns and one terrific voice. I must admit I imagine Joey is undressing this woman; I have no shame.
Haven't heard this in forever. Love this song!
I still have an EP with this song (EP = 45 record with four song)
Love this!!! Love the horns, violins, and his voice.
A terrific, sweet song that eludes airplay on oldies stations. Plus, it's great to dance to!
Love this song.
Great song! One of my all-time favorites.
Never saw this clip either, and it's still one of my fave Joey Dee sides...thanks for sharing
my friend, i like this thank you
Great track with a great arrangement, featured in the B Move 'Two Tickets To Paris'
Neat song.
I love the Mary Tyler Moore flip.

horarwgt two tickets to Paris
Chulada de canción
I think that is Jo Ann Campbell with Joey in the movie Hey Let's Twist.
The female actress in the clip and lead actress in the film was Jeri Lynn Fraser. De was a Columbia recording artist from Connecticut.

I think "Twist" is in the title. Google Joey Dee movie. It should come up. I think it's the only movie he made.
La música de antes es lo mejor .!!
