Fantastic video. So much to like here. The quality of the footage is some of the best I've seen, despite a slightly foggy windscreen. The rate Brandon has been improving on stage is crazy, if he keeps up this pace he'll be crushing the competition. You gotta be so smooth to make it this look this easy.
Hey DirtFish! I have a question. at roughly 4:22, Brandon downshifts to first and ebrakes a right hand corner. From what I can see he uses the clutch on shifts 2-4 but then when he goes to hit fifth he doesn't clutch at all. Is this normal for a sequential transmission? I thought with sequential there wasn't a need to clutch except when starting from a standstill.
Hi! DirtFish Senior Instructor Jack here! From what I understand, the clutch is only "needed" on launch as he can flat shift after that. However flat shifting is hard on the transmission. Brandon might be trying to be easy on the car by using the clutch still. He will need to use the clutch when handbraking to properly disengage drove to the rear tyres, unless Subaru use an automatic clutch-in on the handbrake. On top of that, it may just be how Brandon drives, using things like the clutch or not might be how he is comfortable 🤷♂️ old habits die hard.
Very Very Cool!!! I hope they come out. With something like a streaming service. Like WRC+ Or do what IMSA does. Put the full race on youtube. A couple days after the race. With full coverage.
Is the handbrake reactional to the balance of the car in the corner, is it anticipated, all tight corners will require more rotation than the floor brake and steering wheel can as efficiently provide? What a drive
I really hope WRC goes to the U.S. so we can actually see how different ARA cars are vs WRC cars. (you know, without the bunch of handicaps put on WRC cars that have made it to the U.S.)
@@bonelessbeef no it isn't, shakedown alone is better than the whole ARA coverage, and paid WRC content gives you whole race and all onboard from every car. you can't even watch ARA anywhere, one onboard from one stage is pretty much all you get from whole weekend race
@@BasecampNorth well Brandon just a while ago was just a bike rider, not like hes been a pro driver his whole life like prolly 90% of guys from WRC so cut him some slack, hes still one of the best drivers in USA, tho i agree that America doesnt compare to europe rally at all
Wow what an awesome experience watching that. The WRX is such a legendary machine. Love it. The sound is fantastic.
Noice! Watching Brandon and John sling the VSC Subaru down the roads was awesome. Thanks DirtFish!
dirtfish know how to make onboard vid, learn that wrc channel
yea, none of the badly saturated mess, with the cockpit in dark shadow and the road stupidly bright
2:05: "Wops, no 7th gear available"
came looking for this comment. that’s how we can tell this driver is full sending!
Good eye

hell of a drive
From winning gold at #realMTB xgames to shredding in a subie .. gotta love it
Thank you for that great video.
Where to see this in LIVE???
2:11 - 100+mph
Awesome driving. Listening to the pace notes is half the crack! Badly missed

Imagine if the Arais & Ben Hunt driving this STi version..
No pace notes? 😭
I watched this for 30 seconds next thing I know the video is already over
Dangers

Ah rally! Doing 250 on a normally 50 road.
Q tocada horrível! C. Mcrae we miss u!
Fools be driving their car like this and post it on offer up/Facebook “well taken care of no issues never been abused”😂😂
It doesn’t look as fast as WRC
it is. 50hp less.
wrc is obviously more advanced, probably higher cornering speed, top speed of rally cars is not great anyway
Better videos then the official Wrc channel though
@@bonelessbeef their entire thing is the long ass coverage on wrc.com, youtube is just advertisment to their actual platform...

Taxi please. Hi hi.
Happy Birthday Penny Lane Ippolito free my baby from Fort Collins Co DHS!,,,
slow
He literally won the stage overall fuck u mean slow 💀
:-D Nice, but compared to WRC or WRC2 it´s "a bit" anemic. Come on!
These conditions were comparable to Rally GB, or even worse!
@@DirtFish - come on 🙄 Early breaking, lifting, lack of attack. The video speaks for itself. No reason to defend - it’s just a different league.

Well I was grinning and clenching at the same time..so thumbs up for me.
@@DirtFish It was great footage ..so thankyou.
