    (You can use the TABLE OF CONTENTS below to go direct to a particular drill. Best viewed full screen at HD) This video is about US Air Force Women's Tennis Drills, and if you like these videos, please subscribe to our channel. The USPTA was fortunate to have the AF Women's Tennis team come down from Colorado Springs to demonstrate some of their drills at the USPTA Intermountain Division Annual Conference, held in Denver this year. It was a great display of athleticism, talent and skill honed by a disciplined work ethic. Coaches might want to use these as a basis for high school tennis drills, or maybe more appropriate, for college tennis drills.

    The good part about group drills is that they are similar in level.

    Nice drills for people who don't want to play tennis better next 10 years and just want to have some fun for 1-hour practice with 10 friends on same court.

    • @10smike
      @10smike  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, you lost me on that. Do these drills if you don't want to improve?

    • @dorokhovea
      @dorokhovea ปีที่แล้ว

      @@10smike sorry. I agree that my comment is a bit lazy. I just wanted to say that drill won't affect your technical or moving improvement. They are all about having fun.

    • @10smike
      @10smike  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dorokhovea Maybe if the coach was working with you individually before doing these drills and you just were trying to establish some muscle memory? Would that make the drills more beneficial? That's kind of my thought.

    • @dorokhovea

      One of the most important and obvious signs of effective practice is amount of shot per hour. Of court also important quality and etc but amount most important. Here hits per hour for every person is less then you can generate by hitting wall with no stop for 5 minutes. Also moving here is very random and that doesn't help to improve. Way more effective when you will do drills with same moves for many times and more often then here on that video. For big groups of people possible to make effective drills. Absolutely. But this drills here are completely useless for improving. But ok for fun.

      @@10smike he's right, they have limited time. They should be in smaller groups and working on advanced practice ideas. This is for beginners, very disappointing

  • @10smike

    Agree totally. Many of the drills require a minimum skill level to be effective. This video wasn't meant to suggest that these were appropriate for general high school use. But maybe some ideas can be gleaned from them? That was the hope. Like at 25:25 the coach talks about using nerf balls to get the players used to the speed and the fact that maybe they really CAN handle those balls at the net. Or getting players to move through high balls at the net, instead of standing there waiting for the ball to come to them and swatting at them. Anyway, thanks for the comment. I know that high school coaches have a big job in front of them, and they have all my respect for doing a job that doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

    biggest difference between this group of young ladies and a high school team is the difference in skill level from 1 - 12. You find a much bigger spread in talent at the high school level, so drills need to be tailored for groups of players based on skill level

    • @10smike
      @10smike  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Craig Okuna Yes, but can't the coach can also feed the ball according to the skill level?

    I couldn't understand rules of the game starting at 8:35 - if you hit it to the T the other team can hit it back at the T rather than continuing with cross court / down the line?

    These drills wont happen at most high schools. The skill and athleticism just isnt there.

      Thanks for the comment Brad. I have to agree, these women are pretty extraordinary. I'm not a high school coach, but I wonder if some of these general ideas for drills couldn't be incorporated at the high school level.

      I have kids at my HS that range from UTR 11 to UTR 2 that could do many of these drills....some will obviously be better at them than others. I do similar drills at my practices. They won't be as consistent as these ladies...but they are probably all the same general UTR/skill range

    The drills are not half bad, but this woman has the worst sounding voice I've ever heard in a woman! Imagine being married to her😨!!
