  • The Snake River, a vital lifeline coursing through the heart of Teton County, is facing dynamic challenges that demand innovative solutions. The river’s mainstem faces fluctuating flows ranging from 280 up to 30,000 cfs in a single season, combined with human-driven changes that together result in riverbank erosion and land loss, as well as degraded habitat for native Snake River cutthroat trout.

Great to see Trout Unlimited is restoring the riparian zone trees for erosion control. The wildlife on the streambank and the aquatic inhabitants in the stream will reap the benefits from the riparian zone trees. Also, an informed trout fisherman always checks the riparian zone vegetation for the location of the big trout in a stream. Not using rocks which is a Global Warming practice and instead using riparian zone trees which is a Global Cooling practice to help shade and cool the stream and the streambank. P.S. You should contact Sharon Doty, Professor of Environmental and Forest Service at the University of Washington about the scientific studies she's doing on riparian zone trees.

Please do this type of work in the upper Big Hole watershed in Montana. There are too many cattle invading the riparian buffer.
