- After a much needed day of rest, the Slaws continue their journey from West Yorkshire to Port Grimaud.

Today is day five of their road trip and they travel from Millau to Port Grimaud.
Last night they stayed at Camping Les Erables in Millau.
Today, their first stop is the supermarket for supplies and diesel. Mrs Slaw demonstrates how easy the self-service petrol pumps are.
The Slaws get onto the peage (French toll motorway) and come straight off at the first aire. The Viaduc de Millau aire.
It’s a pleasant walk up the hill to the viewing point for this magnificent structure. Then breakfast in Helga, their Hobby motorhome @HobbyCaravan before continuing their journey.
Cab chatter today includes being vigilant at the supermarket and a shaggy dog story!
As they descend out of the mountains, the view opens up and it gets hotter as they hit the med 🌞
Mrs Slaw throws a good punch In retaliation to all Slaw’s bum smacking 🤣
Once checked in to their campsite for the next eight nights, Camping de la Plage in Port Grimaud, they are instructed by fellow campers to request a tractor to tow them onto their beach front pitch. Now, those of you have seen day 8 of their NC500 vlogs will know that Helga is also a tow truck. But did you know she is also a dune buggy 😱 Needless to say no tractor was required 😎

We use the Millau Viaduct 4 times a year and have done for many years. It is a truly awesome piece of engineering and I always look forward to seeing it.

I’m really enjoying your trip south. I was down at Port Grimaldi when they built it, so memory lane for me. Just bought a camper van, I thought I would send a link to our family member who is going to drive the van from Scotland to me near Narbonne. So that he can learn how easy it is to get on the Chunnel and use Péages erc. Great information for newbys to French motorways and campsites. Thanks so much.

Hi been doing the same ,driving down through Milau for past 30 years. Road has definitely changed. Nice to go through Milau for a change without queues past the fire station.We had our honeymoon at Heyres 30 years ago and last went w years ago and that's changed. Even motorway services down near Marseille are bad for bandits. Police don't like you stopping the night. Have a gr8 time.

Thanks Robert. Yes you can and most truckers do, hence why it gives motorhomes the ticket high up (same height as a truck - ish) and the credit card payment is high up too. But the cash payment is car height. I’ve got bruises on my belly from this trip 🤣

I love your music choice and I like how you share “how to’ parts as well which is appreciated to those of us who aren’t familiar with French road travel. Another beautiful episode. The supermarket thing is worrying as someone travelling alone because I’d have to leave it 😕 x
Thanks Sue! It is a worry, but in our VW we always made sure nothing was on view and we didn’t have an issue. They are much harder to break into than a motorhome 👍🏻

If its not been mentioned before, get a Sanef toll tag, saves all the faffing about at the péage. Just drive straight through, pay the following month.
But where’s the fun in that 😉
Last time we used a self service pump in France was in 2019 on the A35 between Colmar and Mulhouse...A Total service stop...they took a test payment from the debit card of €100 then the cost of the fill...took 21 days for it to return to the account...never used the self service again...I've also read that a few supermarkets in the UK are trailing this method instead of the £1 test payment.. Ohh whilst you are down there keep an eye out for are old MH a Royal Blue Mercedes Mclaren..the lad and his Girlfriend hit Cannes yesterday and will be hugging the coast line to Saint Tropez in the next few days on their way into Spain... great vid once again.

Here in BC we have the prepayment for fuel, never any problems, no test payments. Super easy and our current price…just for comparison is $1.59/ltCAD
Nice video again, the toll roads are expensive and we got a SANEF tag, which we didn't attach to the windscreen because the cameras seemed to be set at different places at barriers, so Mrs N would have great fun waving the tag around like mad to get the barrier to open up, it also meant that we did'nt need lots of cash to feed the machines

Great to see you reach your destination. Now I’ve forgotten what it’s proper name is but I’ve got a thingymajig that you attach to your windscreen, the ‘all seeing eye’ at the motorway barriers reads and let’s you through, your account is debited and no need to do a balancing act or wish for longer arms!! I used mine very successfully the year before last, also have one that can be used in Spain, just swap the wee cards over. Of course it would mean that Monsieur Slaw wouldn’t be able to ….well, we will,leave it there!! Enjoy your well earned vacation and look forward to seeing more of your vlogs. God bless all.

Hi from California ! I love your video, but sometimes it is hard to understand what Mr. Slaw is saying. I am referring to what was said regarding the break-in of his relative’s motorhome or was it stolen ? Back in 1982 we toured Europe in a VW Westphalia, and I am presently planning a repeat tour. It would be helpful if you could freeze frame and zoom-in on important highway signs as you pass them. Also, do a quick walk thru of the campgrounds you stay at and tell your viewers if you would stay there again. That info would help those of us who plan similar trips. 😎
Thanks Greg! Sorry, it’s probably Slaw’s Yorkshire accent. I’ve listened back and he said his relatives motorhome was ‘robbed’. That’s not grammatically correct as robbery is taking something from someone. What happened was that while we were all in the supermarket, someone broke into the motorhome and stole their belongings. Re the road signs, we can’t show the whole route, every junction etc, so we do a resume at the end of the day showing a map of our route. Also, doing a walk round of a campsite is not our thing. We’d rather show you what we experience. For example, in Millau you saw our pitch, the river, and the bar and pool. We spoke about the price of the pitch, how you need to pre-order your bread the night before and you saw it was an easy walk into town from the site. Walking round showing viewers the toilet block and reception is not our style - sorry. Hope that explains why we do what we do. We’re a bit different from other channels, but that’s because you’re on holiday with us. We aren’t full-time vloggers. We both work full-time still. Do you ever share the driving? We only ever see Mr Slaw driving. Also, have you thought about doing the tag for tolls to save you leaning out so much. It’s really easy.
We both have different strengths. Slaw is a good driver a d I’m a good navigator. We swapped on occasion, but we like what we do. We didn’t bother looking into a tag as it’ll probably be a while (unfortunately) until we cross into Europe again.
@@mrsslaw9242 I had my first go at driving our motor home today. It was fun but so different to my very low car. I like to drive a bit but it’s definitely not equal.

Sleeping near Brignoles someone broke into motorhome stole all my cards and used the tap to pay in Marseille.Had hidden £300 in cash to get home. Now have Toll Tag and more Locks from The car key man.

Hi Tony, at the end of each day we do a map shot of where we’ve been. Hope that’s helpful. Slaw got a suction cup mount from Amazon a while ago and can’t remember what it was called.

Glorious scenery, there are a lot of tolls arn't there, but your stop wow what an amazing pitch to stop and weather is glorious too, how do you find the food, would you say its more expensive than here? i would assume it is, but never gone to France so, and do you have a fav at all? look forward to tomorrow take care xxx
Thanks Linda! The food can be more expensive but doesn’t need to be. For example, today we had lunch out. Slaw’s main was €18 and I had a main and dessert for €10 because I chose the menu of the day xx

Thanks Steven! We started out taking the car down to a pre-pitched tent in 1995. Then for a few years booked mobilhomes with big companies. As we got more confident, we started booking mobilhomes privately and organising our own ferries. In 2013 we bought a little VW camper and started touring in Europe. Yes, we’ve been to this site and Les Mures before. The main draw for us is that it’s a dog friendly beach and those are rare in France!
Did you guys pop into Roquefort on the way to Port Grimaud, used to live in Fréjus till 4 yrs ago.
We didn’t Andrew. There are so many places we’d like to visit, but working full-time gets in the way 😥

Hi Chris, it’s like the ‘pay at pump’ in the UK. You have to put your card in and your pin then you can fuel up to a certain limit 👍🏻
