These tutorials have been invaluable for my prosthetic research. TY!. I have a question and I pray that someone from Brick in The Yard can nudge me in the right direction. I'm making prosthetic breast for cosplay and I need a very thin membrane of cap plastic to help blend the prosthetic into the skin. I'm guessing from my research that I need to spray a layer of cap plastic before I pour the silicone and after. Would cap plastic work with the recipe in this video? Also, I see that this video you are using a mold made of Artkast. Would it be better for me to make a master mold of silicone or can I get away of using a mold made out of Artcast. TY for all of your video on prosthetics.
I would like to inquire about the best material in terms of showing mold manufacturing details (Hydrocal, Tracal or Polyester). Can I pour the material onto flexible silicone figures to create the shape (breasts, nose, ears, fake wounds)? What should I put on the model so that it does not stick to the mold? Thank you 🤗🌹
I should let you know that the accuracy you claim for the organic tissue is only true if the tissue is very dehydrated. Well hydrated tissue (especially that particular region of the human body) immediately snaps back, it doesn't take as long as you demonstrate. That is actually a recommended way to determine whether or not one is dehydrated. Firmer silicone on the inside should resolve this issue.
I want to make a gel to simulate fat tissue in a breast form: what ratio of a to b to deadener would I use? I am going for a realistic approach that incorporates how natural breast tissue doesn't stay still and constantly moves and jiggles and ripples.
To not have the edematic ‘dehydrated’ depression memory like the one made in the video, one would have to make the outer layer a lot thicker, and the inner part can either be 1/1/1 in its entirety or have a seperate ‘inner core’ molded, just like actual implants, which is added after pouring in the 1/1/1 inside the plain 0010 capsule. As for the composition of the inner core, it can be plain 0010 OR somewhere in between plain 0010 and 1/1/1 leaning toward the harder side - this way, it would stay in position, have a somewhat firm BUT squishable inner core. One would want the core to be very close to the areolia, so when the entire form is subjected to gravity or physics, the spherical mass will move as one, areolia included, to wherever gravity or physics dictates. If one wants more realistic? TKB with areolia, that’s probably a seperate pour with something harder (depends on what effect you want to accomplish - squished flat under clothing, or standing at attention) Anyone who knows better, feel free to add on or correct me.
You can use this technique and materials for a simple prosthetic. Gel-10 and Gel-OO have a higher tear resistance so they are preferable for prosthetic applications.
Not sure how that would turn out, but then again, practicing surgeons do have silicone suture practice tablets to do stitches on, so maybe it might work. Might have to tweak the pigmentation a bit and mmmmmaybe the hardness in such a way that the ink pattern will show when the top residue is wiped off, but not so highly pigmented that there’s no depth. (The very topmost layer of skin is somewhat semi transparent, but this is only a few thousandths of an inch thick on plain skin, slightly thicker at joints, and quite thick on areas like palms, fingertips or soles of the feet)
@@brickintheyard I'd like to soften it as much as possible, but have the rebound be a little faster than what was shown in this video. I was hoping I could fine tune the rebound rate by substituting some deadener with silicone fluid maybe.
Yes, this technique may be used for silicone mask but I would not recommend this high % of Deadener. Neill Gorton has a great Mask Making DVD that uses Gel-10 + Deadener Gel-10 in similar fashion to this and it results in a VERY realistic mask with excellent movement.
The folks over at _misbehaving dragon_ probably know a LOT more about all that, but alas, they don’t really make their manufacturing techniques public…
This was made to demonstrate the extreme soft end of the scale, so this used the maximum amount of Deadener. You can not add as much as I did and have a firmer silicone. The replacement for Deadener is "Prosthetic Additive 1" and it will be available on our site very soon.

For a full head mask I would recommend our PlatSil Gel-0020 or Gel-0030.

Could you combine softener and deadener? It looks like the deadener makes it a little too slow to rebound.
