Nice job on explaining as much as you could most sorry all other people don’t like to mention the little tips and tricks a rite off the bat you did nice job I just started using the silicone tubes and a very bad experience with corn starch the water and soap work great thanks again.
Is there a way to do the reverse and have your finished product be the silicone? Like make a household products detailed mold of your real hand, and then use the silicone to make a silicone lifelike cast of the hand?

you can coat the item with separator like to spray with silicone oil. Then place the item inside some box or so like form area and cover the 5 sides with oil separator too. Best to fix the item by two wooden pieces or so. Fill the first half (bottom) of item in the form area with resin epoxy, let it harden. After a day, coat the hardened epoxy with silicone oil spray too, make sure the item is well coated too. And finally fill the box or form area with resin epoxy - the replicated item should be completely submerged, the resin should make a layer a little more above item. Let it harden again. Now you could easily remove the new form from boxed area and divide it into two pieces, halves. Remove the item. Now you can fill the form with silicone to make infinity number of copies. Through one of the two canals created by wooden supports of item you can press more silicone, the air bubbles will leave same way during hardening. With wax or similar materials this works well too.
@MilanWolfl I'm trying to make fake silicone body parts using my friends. So this won't work unfortunately 😕 I'm looking for a way to make the end product silicone like a life cast of the persons hand or foot or arm so it looks and feels somewhat real when it comes out the mold. I need the end result to be silicone. I live in an apartment so I was hoping I could do it safely and without spending a lot maybe using home found products that aren't too pricy. Needs to be skin safe and not put off any bad smells.
Waoo great. I was making my fondant topper and was wondering to preserve my hard word by making mold to help me next time. Any idea can I use this technique for hardened fondant or air dry clay figure
in my experience the original piece you making mold from like you used plaster must be completely dry , the silicon create heat , then it will cause bubbles in the mold , if your master piece is plaster , thank you for your amazing work .
What would I do if I want to make a cast of a real human hand? Can that be done this way?

make a mold by another materials like clays, divided into two pieces, and let it harden separated without the hand in the mold? Its not possible to stay with no movements and shaking for so long time of hardaning... But you have to test the material for a mold, if it does not shrink or change the shape in corners.
@jazzyj2182 This is a tutorial for how to make a diy silicone mold. 🧐 I’ve no idea what your comment has to do with that. I needed a replacement part for my suitcase, unless you’re going to buy me a new suitcase, keep your unhinged and uncalled for comments to yourself.
@@dr.dahshan you cant do this on real body parts. however, you can cast a body part in Alginate first, get a plaster positive, then do the silicone over that plaster cast.
I really could use deeper explanation why only this one type of caulk 100% silicone works to make a mold, & why all these other forms do not. Only because you say so? Do you mean they do not work for this method? Would they work if you thin layer them? Why are we putting the silicone in soap water? No explanation? Thanks.
Thanks for that tip because I was going to use resin. Your method is so simple and easy and I was trying to make a box to put the mold into with hot glue and it just didn't work too good for a two-part mold you have to use clay on one side but this is the best tutorial I've seen yet thank you save me a lot of money and time and headaches
Okay. But now say you wanna do a whoke arm. Like for Halloween props. Now that you have the mold, could you use the same silicon to make a jiggle arm? Or heck even the same to make a hand? Severed hands are always good props cuz of there size
@jazzyj2182 you know preaching to people who dont ask, really turns people off from what youre spouting. How well do you know the rwligion that you are spouting? For instance- how many of each animal did Noah take on the ark?
This was the hardest thing I had to do in my life. After ruining half the kitchen, sponges oil sugar as it was sticky and it went everywhere, after an hour I threw it away along with everything else. After finishing clearing up and putting the last thing in the bin, I noticed that it wasn’t sticky anymore, only in the water it was, and to my hands. Anyway I took it out again and it was not sticky anymore, suppose it needed a trip to the bin first. I will leave it overnight and tomorrow and have a look after 2 days to see if it comes up as suggested. With all the things ruined and the price for the silicone and my time, it is muuuuuch cheaper to get one already made. But it was an experience. Hope this helps someone.
:) I did make another video showing the use of the mold for a beeswax casting (I was making a candle). It would work the same with resin. I dont use resin much, sorry. but I can say that resin leaks out of silicone molds very easily. My recommendation for that is: follow my other demo for casting into silicone mold, but after you wrap the string around it, then you can dip the seam of the mold into molten wax. the string helps hold it there. the wax makes a cool seal that helps prevent leakage.
Greta explanation, good tip on dumping the whole silicon tube. Super cheap and very affordable tip. Thank you.

Thank you for the tips as to what type of silicone to buy.. Good job

Go to GEO Sustainable channel; he has a ton of useful information and tutorials on homemade silicone molds, including food safe.
Don't kno if this is to late because u asked 6 months ago but you can get food safe silicone and use cornstarch for casting fondant decorations
Do I have to use Dawn soap

do you know why the other silicone types don't work?
You did a phenomenal job of detailing in this Presentation. Thank you soooo much for this.

Great video. Do you know why you need to use soap on the silicone?
the soap prevents the silicone from sticking to your hands, wether or not your using latex gloves to process
@@hopibreton2124
Nope, it is to catalyze the silicone, the soap you use must contain glycerine in order for it to catalyze the silicone
Is this construction silicon .thank you
Its New for me, great , next mold i use your Idea 😊 thx

Can I do metal casting in this mould?
Is this reusable and if I'm using clay can I bake it up to 250 Fahrenheit
Apparently silicone 1 means that it is acetic acid based silicone?
Is the mold soft enough to fold it inside out ?
Is it streachy?

I make a little test and everithing is fine. Must wait 24 h until tomorow😢
Where is part two?
Is it safe to breathe the odor that comes off the silicon caulking tube when working indoors?
Someone else def recommended wearing a good mask.
Silicone is hazard to health!!!! IDIOT
Can we use again this mold
can I use this to a mold somthing I created with air drying clay?
Can I use polymer clay in this silicone mold? I want to make a few molds of baby dolls that I have to cast them in clay. Would this work for that???
Is this body safe? I'm asking for a friend 😁
@jazzyj2182so a custom hand mold is “sexual immortality”? 😅
Could you do this on a real hand
Besides it getting stuck on your hand it could take 24hrs to dry up...care to put your hand through that statue phase

If it's not 100% silicone, it will never "harden" Putting it in the water causes it to release the acetic acid and start the "hardening" process.
She literally explains the soupy water within 2 mins of the vide 🤦🏻♀️
would this be good with cement as well
yes
Great content. A lot of love to you from the Beautiful Islands of Trinidad and Tobago 💞.
Would it be okay to make a silicone mold out of this neutral silicone for a broken lipstick?
If that's what you wanna call it yes, just make sure it's cured gòðd no bad smells comment from it.
Instead of cutting a straight line, why don’t you cut a curvy line so the registration marks lineup better and hold together better?
What did you do to prevent the silicone from sticking with that hand figurine that you used
Vaseline or petroleum jelly. Just my guess... I have no idea and didn't even watch the video. Hope I helped! 🤞
@@misteryudonnome Thank you 🫶
Great thanks 👍🙏👍🙏🎉❤❤
Why is nobody showing the cast from the mold?
Sorry, but the different silicone 2 will work. It just has to air out. Also you don't need dawn. You can use glycol as a substitute for dawn.
Problem is Type 2 has additives like latex to keep flexible and resin will react badly if doing resin casting.

Does this work for resin?
I have used this method with plastic model parts with no problems.

Not really 😂
Make sure to do this in a well ventilated area or outside even. The smell is super strong so might wanna wear a mask if you have respiratory issues!
Good job , Give yourself a hand ✋
And of course, allI have is type-2 in the garage... Thanks for the warning.
