The 2021 Cold Steel Talwar is a little different from the older versions. But that's not a bad thing. Cold Steel resurrected the Talwar for the fans.

Very cool like to see a side by side with this one and the voyager 5.5" to see which works better in the hand. The new one must have some dried teddybear blood on it for the extra weight. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

Picked up 2 of them( Serrated ) today, 110 bucks at MidwayUSA...seriously cheap.
No lock stick, both perfect...gorgeous knives.

Great review. Is there a spare pocket clip in the box, like with voyager? I want to buy talwar, unfortunatly they have only new one and it costs 240 Euro.
I don't remember if it came with the extra clip.
I wish Cold Steel would make deep,deep carry pocket clips which were a bit looser.Glad the G10 is a bit smoother.

Loving mine so far, except for the titanic lock stick. I think it probably has to do with the oil bath the knife received when packaged at the factory. One I got the lock face dried off and polished a bit, the lock stick was vastly improved. Also, the clip breaks in over about a week. Even so, I still plan on ordering a PopsCustom clip.

@@Jimislash they don't carry anything in stock. All clips are hand made to order. Lead time is about month. They support a fair amount of CS models, and even a few Demkos. Happy Clipping!

@@Jimislash sad to say after month from checkout to ship, Pops sent a different clip from the one I bought. Technically, it fits the Talwar and is deep carry, but it's a 2 screw mount, and the metal is thin and flimsy. Hopefully it's just a mistake, but their Etsy store is temporarily closed, so I can't request a replacement.

Oh yeah the Talwar I got lucky and scored a 2014 4 inch model on eBay yesterday spotless. Funny thing ever since subscribing to your channel if you review a Cold Steel I buy it . If you can please let us know your thoughts about the San Mai Gurkha Kukri knife years ago I was hesitant to drop $600 but I saw the Lynn Thompson hanging bled pigs demo video on TH-cam and the chopping power is mind boggling seems greater than swords . Would like to know your experience I can’t stop dreaming about this blade :-)
I have the 3V version on pre-order. I have never held either version. I have swung the Kukri Machete+, and if it's anything like that, which it looks to be, I think it'll be money well spent.
the scales on the old talwar look like the edges of the scales are more rounded off

Stickman delivers! The Talwar is a knife that WILL get attention when you pull it out at the steak house or mall. I think the free Lynn Thompson memes are definitely old news and no longer required. Cold Steel is still in the game.

@@dionpage7948 I'd get the S35VN version and save the $75. It's going to do the same thing for you. If it was a different color or DLC blade, that'd be different. I wouldn't pay $225 for the plain version.

Have a recon 1 cts xhp xl tanto. Cool but absolutely the most unused blade I own. Too big for EDC and fixed blades are just plain better for every other situation. It is fun to see the look on someone's face when you flip it out though! Guess it does serve a purpose!!! Was a present so I'll keep it.
Where do you live? Maybe it's a location issue. I EDC my bigger blades.
@@Jimislash Oregon and not the nutjob northern part.. Open carry and no knife length laws. I like between a 3 and 4 for EDC. It's a good knife just not very practical.

Yeah Jimmy you can feel a . 010 difference. Old Machinist. Check out the thickness across the handle open at the rear of the lockbar but ahead of the screw. Old eyes bur I think the new one is thicker.

@@Jimislash I understand the functionality of the wave, but I've never really liked the way it looks on the knife. It's definitely not my preferred opening mechanism.

@@Jimislash I've enjoyed thumbstuds, though sometimes they get in the way when cutting. Really been into the "spydie" flick or the axis lock.

Before they brought out the new ones, the secondary market Talwars were going for $180 and up, depending on the version.
So you have to buy the left handed clips separately now?
I don't know. I haven't been able to contact them.
Would you say there has been any drop in quality in the new offerings since Cold Steel were bought? Excluding the budget Chinese steel offerings of course. I'm sorry to be judgemental but I've been wary of anything with the new logo.
I haven't seen a drop in quality, as far as their knives go. The customer service has been a problem.

probably changed the handle material a little bit. Density, composition, feel etc...different vender ? 1/2 oz. of something different :-) ... have a good one....

I miss Cold Steel Coating it's metal and the color handles options. Shiny pocket clips and screws are bad.

Lock stick is a Big issue for this knife, many complaints on this online. If you slam it open, the lock will not close. Unless you get a rubber hammer and smack the release lever.
Solution: take it apart and sand down the contact points where locking contact points are. I just used the diamond filing end on my leatherman to file it down and then used high polish sand paper, and a bit of oil.
Zero lock stick for me no matter how hard I slam it open.
This is a QC issue from their Taiwan factory.
I have two of them. I haven't had any issues. But thank you for the hint.
