Wow, this is like a master class for all the people starting their journey with iPhone. Great work
Appreciate that 🙏🏻 hope it’s helpful
Immediately saving this video to share to extended family that need phone help.
YES! Hopefully helps many first timers
"Maybe you're coming from Android"...HA! 😜
Yup. Same.

19:09 - No, you don't have to reach your finger to the very top of the screen to activate the cursor in that field. You just need to tap the Search button at the bottom of the screen a second time.
I been watching those videos for years without any purpose but tonight is different I'm getting a new iPhone for the first time and I'm so happy about it
Amazing!! Congrats, hope this can be helpful
This was extremely helpful. I've never owned an iPhone, but I'm getting ready to get one in September. I've always used Android phones. This was extremely helpful. Thank you so very much.
Glad it could help!
I'm stubborn and have had an iPhone with a home button for years. Finally upgraded to a brand new iPhone and this is a great refresher from using friends phones over the years. No longer have an excuse to not know how to navigate after watching this! Thank you :)
Glad it was helpful!
Sending this to my family, so I don't have to provide tech support on Christmas Day!
Hope it helps!
I would also mention a gesture that I really appreciate on iOS, which works everywhere in the system and apps, and has no analog on other smartphones. It's a tap near the top edge of the screen to instantly but smoothly move to the top of the page. Whether it's the Settings app menu or a web page. I use it all the time. Also, quick scrolling by grabbing the bar on the right edge of the screen.
Ah great call! I do that all the time, can't believe I missed it.
i have been a android user my whole life and have been thinking to get a iPhone, this video really sets it up for me.
Glad it's helpful!
I just did recently after many years of Samsung (S II - S20) and so far I'm so glad I did! One thing I've observed is that, though Samsung phones (and Android) do have a slight technical edge over Apple, they don't match Apple's UX in terms of making its features work so smoothly and seamlessly for the most part. This more than compensates for lagging slightly behind in capabilities. I never used half of what Android was capable of simply because of the hassle!
Wow Stephen…you hit yet another grand slam video out of the park. I have had an iPhone for some years now. On my third one and thought I knew a lot about it. Not even close. I wish I had watched this before setting up my new iPhone 15. My “save” file on TH-cam is filling up fast with your channel. Thank you and PLEASE…keep ‘em coming. 🤝🏻
Means a lot, thanks for saying so! Will keep it coming!
25:59 - one day when looking at the horizontal temperature lines in the Weather app, I thought I was seeing a bug, since the edges of the lines at the same temperature values, I expected to see identical. But then I saw in other videos that other people had the same thing. Look at the top two lines here. Both have a minimum of 56°, but the edges of the lines are not identical vertically. The lower one is more offset to the right.
I used to think I understood these lines, but then I questioned it. Apple's logic in this case is incomprehensible to me.
Thank you! Had my iPhones for years and now I actually get it!!
Awesome! Glad I could help.
thank you so much! switching from andriod to iphone and found a LOT of this helpful!
I don't even own an iPhone and I still enjoyed this video
Thanks for watching!
That was awesome, even as a long term iPhone user I learned so many new things! Thank you!!
Great to hear! You’re welcome!
I'm coming back to iPhone after 10 years of Android. I've had almost every Google Pixel since the very first one. And even on Pixels the experience is too unstable. I love the customization of Android but I'm tired of how buggy it is. I'm excited to move to iPhone where things might be a little more restricted, but they just WORK!
Thanks for the video!
Hopefully this was helpful!
Wow is beautiful 😊
thanks
fantastic video! New subscriber and to iPhone. Thank you!
Thank you! Glad it was helpful 🙏🏼
So well though out!
Appreciate that!
This is fantastic. The quality is great. Appreciate the video! 🔥
Thanks for saying so!
My brain taking in all this info🤯🤣
Thanks so much for this very VERY helpful and eye opening video, looking to switch to iPhone/apple for the first time and seeing all you can actually do with the phone excites me its enough customisation but simple and easy to pick up. Really looking forward to making the switch to Apple thanks again ya legend!!
So glad it was helpful, and if you have questions once you get it I’ll try to help!
* Keep in mind* When using your other iPhone make sure both are connected to WiFi for carrier post purchase activation purposes and so that are you are not solely relying on Bluetooth to do your data transfer using a backup phone to phone is still much much slower than iCloud restores.
Good point!
Best video
Appreciate it!
great vid thanks a million from someone new to apple coming from Samsung haha , but why you said don't closed last used apps ???
What does the SOS mean which is stopping me from setting up my new iPhone 14 Pro Max? Thanks
Very helpful so far; might keep me out of the insane asylum as I try to make friends with this new iphone
very informative video 🔥👍🏻
15 pro - Ryan London Case or X case or Spigen Aramid
This is what videos should be like.
Appreciate it 🙏🏻
Hey Stephen can you do a guide like this for the Mac as well?
That’s a great idea! May take some time but will work on it!
Awesome thanks & miss you on Appleinsider, excited to see you on as a guest sometime next year, happy holidays from Iowa ❤️
Would you use iCloud Keychain to save passwords or 1password? Which one would you recommend?
I was a longtime 1Password user and still have it for job stuff, but I’ve moved all my personal and family passwords to iCloud. I explain here: th-cam.com/video/t9WTq05h-OY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hTSU6sty5jWFrNRV
Finally decided to give the iPhone a try and see if it lives up to the hype, and ordered a 15 Pro Max. One key feature I use on my Note/s23 Ultra is casting my screen to the TV. What is the iPhone version of this?
Airplay! Many TVs have it built-in now.
@@beardfm airplay works to screen mirror to Chromecast? Thanks in advance!
Can you give link to explaining why you should not swipe apps when you are done with them please?
Here you go! th-cam.com/video/qGg-wO-baig/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oO470nyFZ2y2g5iA
I'm about to buy a new iphone. Loving the video :)
Just a bit scared because I had a 3GS back in the day and I was struggeling with itunes.. every time I plugged in the phone to my pc itunes synchronised it and wiped all my music, videos, and apps.. then started to install them again, I just had to copy my music and videos back.. It happened even if I just wanted to copy one track to my phone.. :D
Is it different nowadays? I mean ofc now using spotify and stuff its easier, but itunes will still delete and reinstall my apps every time I plug my phone in?
Hey! I haven’t heard of any issues like that in a loooong time. There’s not really syncing to a computer much anymore either. You can do it, but mostly it’s using streaming service like Apple Music, and backing up to iCloud
iTunes is largely irrelevant. You can still use it to sync music to your phone, but the vast majority of people just use streaming services. A lot of people nowadays don't even understand the concept of syncing your music from your computer. iTunes also dropped support for apps years ago.
There is an option in iTunes that when you connect your phone, it lets you manually add music and videos instead of having iTunes automatically sync stuff. You just have to enable it in the device settings within iTunes. I don't remember the exact location. Again, iTunes is largely a relic of the past for most Apple users. Apple even discontinued it on Mac years ago.
After the settings my new iphone is hanging, no longer strolling....pls why?
If ur a new user how come u got the apple watch ultra?
I’m not new, helping *others* who are new
Should I change my ID on my iPhone 14 Plus?
If you already have an id and have been using it for some time, keep that one!
Ok thanks
I'm an experienced user and all my friends turn to me when something goes wrong with their phones. But you know even more than I do. One thing I can't figure out how to do consistently is AirDropping photos by bringing the phones close together. Every time I try it, it attempts to share contact info with the other person instead. I've turned receiving on for everyone.
If it's hard to use for me, it's probably hard to use for new people too.
Would you do a video explaining this feature? If it's already explained in this video, would you have a time stamp? I already tried looking under all the relevant sections but couldn't find it. Sorry for the long comment haha. Look forward to your next video.
Thanks for perusing the video, and that’s a great question! In order to use that feature I typically have the photos selected and share sheet open. It might be enough to have the share sheet open, or you could also tap AirDrop and then hold the tops of the phone near each other. Will include in a future feature video though!

49:46 the reason I'll stay clear of iPhones. You can't set which type of notifications -thematically you want to receive. I don't want to decide between getting my messages and hiding the generic spam. Notifications channels on Android are a blessing.
iPhone still has some improvements needed for notifications and customization, for sure
What do you do if you dont want a phone number? Just wanna use it for wifi...🤔 6:32
You can by an unlocked model and just not activate it!
Life long android user making the switch😂 I can't lie the iPhone does some cool shit 😎

I want an iPhone 😢
Why should you never close out your screens?
I explain here: th-cam.com/video/qGg-wO-baig/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LJYnYFqT0Ey1hRAF
I've used Androids all my life. And I always thought the iPhone was a joke. I've even called iPhone users iSheep. But now I'm considering became one of them.
Try it! You may enjoy it 🤷🏼♂️
