For sure! I haven't heard of this game before, and what you've said is the only part of the video I've seen so far. The game is currently installing :P
@@DuelScreen in fairness Dan did clarify that some of that comparison was on the back of aesthetics, which is definitely more Hollow Knight than Dead Cells. Gameplay-wise, I certainly concede the point, though.
I wish this promising game's devs all the success of Hades, the smooth gameplay of Hollow Knight, the silliness of Enter the Gungeon, and the updates of Dead Cells!
I appreciate the design choice of enemies not hurting you when you bump into them. They only hurt you when they attack. I like that. Makes it a little easier on people. :)
Been playing this since it released on early access! Was really hoping Dan would get to this at somepoint the visual presentation seems to be right up his alley. Edit: Dan runs at enemy yelling "Get Hammered!!", Me sitting there thinking "but Dan it's not even Friday yet that's horribly irresponsible!".
I don’t mean to suggest that 124 THOUSAND subs isn’t a big number, but it always baffles me that it isn’t even bigger. Absolutely wonderful channel. Thanks for making videos, I hope you enjoy doing it for a long time to come! ❤️
It's because he specializes in long, multipart play series for games that, generally, cater to a smaller subsect of gaming as a whole. It's less appealing initially than you might think, and the algorithm is fighting against him for it, though Dan is doing a lot to counteract that. For one, he's uploading daily this content so it at least sustains.
If I had a nickel for every death-themed game Dan's played on PlayFrame, I'd have...like...30¢ to 50¢, off the top of my head. Maybe a couple bucks, if you checked every one-off and defined death theming broadly enough. And that's a lot, for such a chill channel.
Can we just appreciate that when Harriet does their stretches and straightens their back, they have a very slight and very sublet twitch in their eye. It's so small yet so nice.
I hoped you'd show this off on Playframe too, ever since the Twitch stream! I thought you might wait until the actual release, though. Glad you didn't! And yes, I am still just as hooked on/addicted to this game as I mentioned in the Twitch stream a few weeks ago. 😁
I've already seen you play it on the VOD from your stream, but it was just as delightful to see you play it a second time. You've really gotten the hang of the game too!
Oh, "YOU SHOULD PROBABLY SEE THIS" as in, this will be something you'll want to play. I thought it was like an employee going "Hey boss, you should, uh, probably see this" (cause I had one of those incidents at work today)
Paused only 4 minutes in but Dan. Dan, pls. PLEASE play this game in its entirety on the channel ala your Hollow Knight playlist. Whenever it full releases, that is. This game is my jam in so many ways, so thank you for the introduction.
If I had a nickel for every Roguelike with persistent elements that takes place in a bureaucratic interpretation of an afterlife which brings you to a main office area when you die so you can talk with various characters, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
[The caps are not spam, but a reference] HELLO DAN, DEATH HERE, AND YOU CAN'T KEEP TEASING ME WITH THIS GAME. NOW I REALLY ANTICIPATE THE RELEASE, THOUGH I FIND THE LACK OF SUSAN DISAPPOINTING. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, THE CAPS ARE NOT ME SHOUTING, MERELY SPEAKING FORCEFULLY. I HOPE THAT DOESN'T REPEL YOU. DID YOU GET IT? THAT WAS A PUN, A HUMOUROUS PLAY ON WORDS.
OK, so, 50 seconds from the start of the video and I've already wishlisted this. I think that's a record for the fastest you've ever sold me on a game. Well done Dan!
The game makes me think of Guacamelee in the room layouts, item get animations, and some of the battle flow (the maneuverability, some skills, etc.), but makes me think of Hades with the menus (especially for skills and equipment), and the animations when you get them. Edit: sorry for any dupe comments, had internet issues.

I actually just thought about this game yesterday and hoped that you'd revisit it at some point because it was so fun to watch your stream so thank you for the amazingly well timed upload!
The gameplay animation (and some of the music) reminded me of Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, so I had to check: the team behind this is indeed made up of a lot of former Ubisoft employees. If it ever gets a co-op mode it will go into the Must Buy pile, because playing the Rayman games with my sister was a brilliant time back in the day
This game is so cute I want to cry!!!! If anything ever happened to Pump Quinn I'd never recover. Also great first run! This was a great video showing off the game, I gotta pick it up once it fully releases.
Say what you will about Gearbox as a developer but their publishing division knows how to pick their investments, this looks absolutely delightful and immediately goes onto my wishlist!
They obviously had a very clear idea, and they went for it and they nailed it. The animation is extremely successful in its cartoony execution, it's very expressive and clear and polished, and the team should be immensely proud. This kind of adult-childish writing and direction is super not my thing, but good on them.
I'm going to add this here, the game might be early access, but it could stand as a full game on it's own, it's that far along in production. More time and more testers will only make it better...in short, the *GOOD* early access.
I was.. actually pretty disappointed in this, to be completely honest. The art style is gorgeous and it looks like they did a great job in building out the world and characters. The gameplay, however, really just does not look appealing to me at all. I can't help but feel this would have come across so much better if they made a full, complete, hand crafted world (like in Hollow Knight) as opposed to a rogue-like. It reminds me of Chasm where there were some enjoyable ideas in play but the procedural generation just let it down. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy myself a good rogue-like but this just doesn't feel like it actually takes advantage of the formula.
'Hollow Knight + Hades' is a powerfully convincing hypercompressed pitch, I must admit.
For sure! I haven't heard of this game before, and what you've said is the only part of the video I've seen so far. The game is currently installing :P
Absolutely
Seems more like Dead Cells to me.

I'd say all 3 have influences.

@UCG8q2OxsezL4kwaM7ddVioQ This was released back in March (April maybe?), they say they're planning on an early 2023 release date.
I love how a lot of games recently have been about Death/The Underworld being full of paperwork.
I think it's the absurdity of life and a coping mechanism. I know I have been appreciating it.
Hades, Death's Door, Death and Taxes, and now this.
And I guess Obra Dinn is also sorta close to that pitch, though it isn't in the underworld.
This game has been getting better and better with each update. So please support it as it is great and will onky get better with time!
I'll buy it on switch. Already pre-ordered
26:16 -- memes have killed my brain enough that no one can surprisingly greet anyone named Mark without my thinking it's a reference to The Room...

"Oh, hi Mark" - Daniel Floyd trying out for The Room
AAAhhhhh the intro alone got me already! Was unsure from Ads alone, but sold 10/10 now, thanks Dan!

I can´t wait to play this. The intro killed me (pun intended ;D)
I'm so excited to see you taking a look at this. I've been on the fence about this game for a while.
Please play more of this on twitch, I just need to see you play this for so much longer

Bothered by the arrangement of the X, Y, and B buttons in the upper left corner.

That intro made me feel like I was watching a Looney Tunes short. Or maybe Night on Bald Mountain. Lovely, lovely animation.
I never realized until now that 'soulary' is a portmanteau of 'soul' and 'salary'. Clever.
I wonder if Koffees come in a coffin shaped cup and the lid has a side opening like open casket funerals that open to show only the face.
I love love LOVE the animation of the gloopy monsters! So good!
I'm glad that we're not missing out on the best of the streams. I couldn't really follow it then, it's just not my pace
i love that the elevator has muzak
I definitely want to see more of this when it officially releases!
This game is so cute I want to cry!!!! If anything ever happened to Pump Quinn I'd never recover.

About that...
I have a feeling this game had Dan at that billowing cloak animation.
Say what you will about Gearbox as a developer but their publishing division knows how to pick their investments, this looks absolutely delightful and immediately goes onto my wishlist!
Wow, that menu animation really sold me the game almost inmediately.
Dammit Dan, stop playing such awesome games, my wishlist is crowded enough as it is!
This looks so cute and the controls definitely look fluid, looks like a great game. I’ll have to try it when it comes out

Claude is DISCO SKELETON!
There are 7 worlds that you can fight thought. And each are fun
Oh this is adorable and macabre, just the way I like it! And animation is so beautiful
the elevator's ding sounds like overcooked?
generally speaking games like this I prefer for the switch so I'll be keeping an eye out for it. A quick search showed it only on steam.
I really hope this game comes to switch some day
I really, really hope they eventually release this game for the Switch.
Ahhhh! I loved hearing Bug Knight once more!!! 😊
Fun Fact: It's currently 20% off on Steam right now!
March 22nd is when it comes out I'm excited
DAMN HE IS A REAL GOOD VOICE ACTOR

The animation reminds me so much of Luigi's Mansion 3
Music in this game has very Crash Bandicoot vibes
i know you say hollow knight + hades but the personalities of the characters along with the vibe is giving rayman
So red attacks are with the blue button, blue attacks use the yellow button, and green attacks are on the red button. Got it.
It's an awesome game for sure with lots of potential
Looks great, but seems to be PC-only at the moment. Perhaps if it comes to some other platforms, I'll give it a whirl.
I'M STILL LAUGHING AT THE TITLE I'M SORRY
dang it you're making me buy another game... keep it coming!
Until you said you did a little bit of this on stream, I thought I was physic lol.
Crystal Maze was such a good show
Which version? Richard O'Brien, Ed Tudor Pole, Stephen Merchant, or Richard Ayoade?
I'll be childish, but I spent about an hour hearing "enems heals your wounds". I don't know if that would be an interesting game or what :P
Ahhhh i love this game. Was hoping you would play it
This Game looks to fun ❤
Anyone else getting very faint Hazbin Hotel vibes?
