    I love all of your videos you are always so helpful , and being new to soaping I feel that your platform is super helpful to a novice to professional. I tried your white melt and pour soap base this weekend and made my first batch. I was so excited it looked exactly like yours it was a win, unfortunately after leaving in the mold for 24 hours I cut it. A little sticky but not a deal breaker, the next day it was so slippery it would literally slip out of my hand. I followed the recipe with no variations so not sure where I went wrong. I live in the deep south with super high humidity. I have placed it in curing area with fan and dehumidifier hoping it will help. So should I lessen the amount of glycerin in the future. I know it operator error it has to be any insights would be really appreciated.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! High humidity environments can for sure lead to stickier bars. You can decrease the glycerin in the future, or remelt and add clays and/or stearic acid to the existing batch and see if you like it better!

      Hey! Fragrance added at the end, and no adjustments to the formulation. The reason for this is that fragrance is not part of the chemical composition of the soap, so including it or not won’t change the final outcome. Have fun!

      @MrsSoap&Clay will correct me (please do) if I misspeak but she mentions that the solvents (glycerin) will be 100% of your total oil weight (timestamp, 4:00 to 4:10). However, I'm not sure if she figures the 'wax' in with the oil weight. I'm thinking, yes, because the wax is listed along with the butter/oils (timestamp, 3:42-4:03). With that said, later, Mrs. Soap & Clay states to use your solvent at anywhere from 75%-100% of the total oil weights of your recipe (timestamp, 10:29-11:00) AND at 10:52 the amount between the 75-100% is stated to be pure personal preference. Running the math: 25.4 oz of oils/wax x 79% = 20 oz of glycerin (rounded down from 20..066 oz). I hope this helps.....and I hope I've understood everything in this WONDERFUL video correctly. Thanks so much, @MrsSoap&Clay!!

    Hi Soap n Clay . I wanted to mention that I made the base yesterday. One problem was that I had some small places of soap that they had not disolved and the texture was lil bumpy. I poured in my form the same like yours lefted in room Temp to cool ( my place is 23c temp ) and today at 1pm I unmolde it. Well it was sticky in the touch. I cut it and was nice inside. I melt some to make two Soaps to try it. The tiny pieces of soap from the beginning did not disappear. Also the soap when it cooled off is sticky. But as a soap it lathers great and cleans wonderful. Where did I go wrong? I forgot to mention... I used candelilla wax not beeswax

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So it’s really important that the bits of soap have an opportunity to fully dissolve in the solvents; this is what disrupts that “crystalline structure” that soapers love to talk about and allows the soap to be remeltable. It’s only a cosmetic issue however, as it’s still soap. To the sticky bit, let it sit for a few days in open air and lose some water and it should resolve itself.

    • @MELVINKI
      @MELVINKI ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you don't mind me chiming in here... I think you could add your SF in during the vaseline state, but I don't know about once it's already made into M&P. You don't want to add too much once it's M&P because it doesn't get incorporated... It's already saponified soap.
