Thank you my girlfriend's computer was making a lot of noise so I followed your video took it apart give it a good clean and it all seems good she's very happy probably would have cost about £100 if she took it to the shop. she said she'd give me £50 for fixing it but I'm still waiting for payment. If you only want to take out the keyboard there is one screw to remove under the RAM door marked with a keyboard sign. Use a thin screwdriver to push out the keyboard where the screw was and don't worry the tip of the screwdriver is pushing against the screw boss. Then grab the edge of the portion of displaced keyboard to un-clip the rest of it. No need to prise it out using a thin blade.

TY very much for this. I almost broke my almost identical model before learning from this video about removing the kb. I wish I knew in advance that a spanner isn't the pry tool I was expecting. I thought someone who reviewed tool kits called a pry tool a spanner so I ordered a kit that included spanners. Not the same thing. Need something else for prying.

    • @ItsBinhRepaired

I just use a frosting spatula. If it's too thick you'll have to file it down to sharpen it like a knife to get it to be thin enough for prying.

Hey! Thanks a lot for the video, great explanation. Quick question: when you take off the panel with the keyboard and turn it around, there's a transparent protector (?) around the vent opening on the right, with cross-like cuts (for cpu and something else?) You can see it on 7:05-7:08. I wonder if it's safe to remove the protector or whatever that is? It has sticky parts to attach to the panel, and I've got plenty of dust there over time, which looks untidy and is a bit annoying.

If you destroyed them, then you need this and a drill amzn.to/2Hxv8Xl it's pricey, but it can be used for other things in the future.
