Oh for the days when all laptops had back panels making for easy HDD, RAM access. Clearly these bastards do not want you to fix their laptops... grrrrrrrrr
Excellent! Thanks very much.... I can't believe what a mission it is to replace the HDD in these laptops, your video was invaluable in getting the thing apart...
Whoever owns those magic hands, this fantastic tutorial video did the trick for me. A couple extra screw, but exact same interior layout. This helped me remove my old Toshiba 1TB hard drive that was suffering with a ‘short DTS’ error and replaced it with a 1TB SSHD. Thank you sssssoooo much. Liked and Sub’d 😁👍🏽
If you only want to take out the keyboard there is one screw to remove under the RAM door marked with a keyboard sign. Use a thin screwdriver to push out the keyboard where the screw was and don't worry the tip of the screwdriver is pushing against the screw boss. Then grab the edge of the portion of displaced keyboard to un-clip the rest of it. No need to prise it out using a thin blade.
Thank you! I would have not found some of this groose if it work for this video. Some of this cruise I encountered felt like they were put in with power tools and needed a lot of work to unscrew them but I found them all and was able to successfully get to the hard drive of this laptop. This video was a game changer for me I was not sure how to approach this project and this just walked me right through it step-by-step. Thank you again!
Just upgraded a collegue's laptop with more RAM and swapped out the HDD for a 500GB Crucial SSD - went off without a hitch and this video was invaluable (even if it was a bit disconcerting having to - in my case - use a Swiss Army Knife flat-blade to pop off the keyboard!)
Bro prying the front panel (around the keyboard) was the hardest thing ever. It was stuck on something so I couldn't take it all off, so I had to wiggle the hard drive out. Then those ribbon cables are so finicky that I had to reopen everything 3 times to get all them to get plugged in...
for anyone reading this these 3 screws have loctite so are very secure. make sure you use a good screw head that fits well or you will strip them while apply enough force to remove them. I bought a high quality micro screwdriver set from my local hardware store but you can get them online too.
Thanks a bunch for this video. Our standard machines are all Lenovo so I am not familiar with HP machines. Wow what a hassle just to get the harddrive out :)
Hi. I've followed your guide step by step and now the disk is working just fine. However, I got in trouble with my laptop's keyboard. It's not working :/ And that thing which holds the flat down seems pretty weak. It detached as I move it
Get a laptop with an i7 off eBay with a higher clock speed ~2.9 or DDR4 RAM. Processors are soldered to the board and aren't really replaceable, with locked speeds.
hey nice job. can you use keyboard and top panel on 15p series? i have only touchpad without mouse button. i want to have touchpad with mouse button. can i use that from 15 n212tx?
interesting, video. Decided to try replacing the HDD with SSD on an older celeron laptop, I had. Said computer only worked, briefly, after that, and is on its way to a landfill. My first --and last-- attempt to work, on one of those beasts.
hi bro i find your video very helpful, i have the same laptop and could you tell me how to remove the black cable underneath the motherboard (mounting side of fan) connected to the harddisk see its just the opposite side of the cable you removed from the motherboard connected to the harddisk
JAY DESAI just bought 850 pro. Going to get it done at laptop shop.idont think so we would be requiring.will let you know once I get it done. thanks for HP for making it easy..will never buy a HP laptop..
Bullshit HP I will never buy another one but F-U i did replace it and sold the damn thing and got something way better good luck people who have to go thru this BS to replace the damn Hard drive save your money and go with a different brand
All the people talking about how difficult this is shouldn't be opening computers. This is simple laptop repair for professionals, nothing special. Take it to a shop, you'll break it.
Laptops were WAYYYYYY easier to disassemble and fix a few years back before they started making all of them unibody style like Macs. This is the reason why I got out of being a technician actually. Over engineering designs...
Your comment is irrelevant you just said its simple for professionals you shouldn't have to go pay 50-100 dollars for something you should be able to unscrew the back on
This is very helpful bro. Today i disconnect my laptop keypad by watching this vdo. It was milfunctioned. Thanks again !!
what screwdrivers did u use for the under the dvd rom.
Oh for the days when all laptops had back panels making for easy HDD, RAM access. Clearly these bastards do not want you to fix their laptops... grrrrrrrrr
Rat Sak no shit, this is just insane to replace a hard drive!!!
Its because they can save 10 cents by building it this way.
My thoughts exactly. I hate having to do so much for for what should be a quick job.
One reason why I still like the Lenevo P series or T series. Solidly built and can access things pretty easily.
Excellent! Thanks very much.... I can't believe what a mission it is to replace the HDD in these laptops, your video was invaluable in getting the thing apart...
At 2:36 when he got the pen-knife out to prise up the keyboard I was like "yep I'm out"

Thanks, this was super-useful, as I'd taken all the screws out of the back and couldn't work out what needed to happen next!
if i meet the guy who design this laptop, probably ill slap him in the face..lol
LoL why ?
I miss the days of two screws for the hard drive...
@@RakeshRoy-cb7km srsly? friggin ridiculous having to do all this just to replace the drive that has a high probability to crashing...
Great video, the video quality made it much easier to see the detail than on some of the other ones I tried.

warning 3 small screws inside must be removed after pulling out the cd\dvd tray. IF NOT YOU WILL DAMAGE YOUR PC...
That doesn't matter to me since I will not be using my laptop again after I move the ssd to my new pc.
@@TheGoldenPro hahahhahaha didnt see that one coming
the size of the screwS?
ph 000? ph0000?
This comment needs to be pinned... I learnt the hard way
@@Gianluca6961 did u find out ? I need to know that too
Outstanding! You just helped me save a HP from recycling. cant believe I had to take a Stanley knife to it. I try to stay away from HP. Thank you!
Thanks you so much for this video. Finally replaced my old HP Pavilion laptop HDD with SSD drive.
Thank you very much, it has all the detail in this short video, I am able to follow and get the job done successfully.
Thanks ! Worked for me. upgraded to SSD. still no issues.
same as!

2.06 what is the name of screw driver you used... My screwdrivers set is not fit for that dvd bay screws😒
Ciao ti volevo ringraziare perché mi sei stato davvero molto utile per la sostituzione del mio hard disk con un ssd. Ottimo video.
don't forget there are 3 tiny flat screws near the optical drive. I had nothing small enough and used the fine edge of a knife to remove.
How :((( i dont have screw for that. And i cant seem to fix it using a knife
which screw driver did you use to get those 3 screws under the optical drive (when removed).?
Thats exactly what I am wondering because I can not get mine out either!?!?!?!
I used a small phillips jewellers screwdriver
The smallest you can find :P I luckily found one

Hello there,What is the screwdriver you use for removing screws underneath the DVD rom drive? I tried with ph0 it didn't work.

Ok after this no more hp brand
It actually looks hard but it’s pretty easy, the only thing is not shown on the video is that on the disk tray there is 3 screws you need to take out
hey nice job! is there a touchpad with 2 mouse button for 15p series? can you take any model and tinker with it?
Worked perfectly. Now the bottleneck changed to the processor instead of the disk. Do you have any suggestions for that. Thx

can we upgrade ram of this laptop more then 8gb ?
You can go up to 16 with 2 8gb sticks. Easy to do just remove small panel on the bottom for this model. Other models require disassembly.
Is that a 2.5??
Thank you for the video it helped a lot. 👍
Excellent to the goal and concise
Very useful video, thank you!
Thanks man, helped me out a lot ❤️.

My Acer laptop literally has one panel you take off. This is ridiculous in comparison
You really need to fast forward through screw removal. good vid though
How about you use words in the video and actually explain what you are doing
What is there to talk about? This is much better, step by step instructions visually shown on what to do and no bullshit. And it's in HD!
