"My favorite Dylan is the Dylan under time pressure."
"The 4-minute time pressure!"
Hahahaha one of the best parts for sure
The real question - Would yall make a trade for a tickle on your back?
Did you catch the Dylighted cameo at the end??
"old man yells at cloud" :D :D :D
Hahaha hope Hawkeye doesn’t get mad at me for that one!
@@HakunaMatataCatan haha nah I've accepted that in the modern day of Catan with kids and all their tricks that I'm an old man
Great fun! Look forward to more uploads. Would also like you to comment on other players’ placement and if you would have placed like them if you had their pick
Really enjoyed this high level match!
I agree would like to hear more commentary on both the placements and your key decisions (check out Nadim for a good example). I found it interesting where every player ended up with a playable setup, so obviously a lot of thought went into not tipping the balance.
This is such a high-level game and it would be good to get some expert perspective on this. That's assuming Dylan isn't slowpoking his own video covering it, in which case _give him a kick!_
Thanks for watching! Totally agree - I love talking placement strategy for the others as well.
The game itself was over 2 hrs long so I think I sacrificed the strategy for the gameplay - but in hindsight there’s probably room for both!
Will look to add more placement thoughts in the Thursday videos !
@@FungluttonI’ll give him a kick!
That was really entertaining!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Next thursdays video is even crazier!
Nice to see your videos again! :)
Nice to see your comments again :)
The well supplied 2/1 port is hard to beat, and a double set of 2/1 ports that are well supplied, Game Over!
It definitely feels great knowing its tough to block me towards the end of the game :)
Dylan Cameo at the end! I thought Hawkeyes placements were interesting and I think you would have had a tough game if he didn’t leave you that 6th spot!
Definitely interesting - 4th position is very challenging here. I think I'd probably take the 6-9-3 and 5-4-11 in his position, but who knows if thats any better
But I think he is guaranteed to leave me any of the 6-9-3, 5-4-11 or 9-10-11 and I can make any of those work fairly well :) just a bit different mindset on what my starting goals would be!
those 4s lol
They were insane! and scary :)
I kinda agree with hawkeye though... you shouldn't be dealing and scheming with the person that is winning! Rather, you can easily deal with the person in last because you want to bring him up while helping your game.
100%!!! However sometimes squeezing the winner out of a lot to help you have a chance yourself is necessary (not saying thats the case here though :) )
I would probably go for 10 9 11 and lock the wheat as first pick. Pairs great with any of the leftover 3 hex spots too. And Wheat is always valuable.
Solid idea! 10-9-11 can definitely work out too :)
Wow! GG!
thanks tobias! Glad you enjoyed it!
But only have the Japanese version???
A problem dozens of cataners face DAILY!!!
Honest question. WTF is a Catan pro?? Never seen anyone make any money from a Catan tournament, let alone a living.
"Professional" has a lot of meanings, it does not simply mean "getting paid to do something." It can also mean have proficient or prodigious skill or expertise in something.
That being said, there are a lot of unofficial Catan tournaments that offer cash prizes, even though the main competitions generally do not. There's also TH-cam and Twitch, which allows the best (or at least most charismatic) players to earn money for playing as well.
@@CreepyBlackDude Being a TH-camr or streamer does not make you a pro at whatever you’re doing on those platforms. Athletes in college, despite their skill level (could be one of the best players in the world at the moment I.e. Caleb Williams) are not considered pro. There’s a reason the word pro isn’t thrown around Willy Nilly in chess.
@@TheRealAT You are correct that simply streaming on Twitch doesn't make you a pro. I only included the ways people can earn wage is because you mentioned you'd never heard someone getting paid for playing Catan.
The main point I wanted to make was that being paid to do something isn't the only metric by which someone might call themselves a pro. It is if you spend a significant portion of your time and mental energy at perfecting the craft and getting better at it, or are seen as the leaders, masters, or trendsetters of the craft. If you prefer it, you could say they were at a "Professional-Level," where they could make a living on Catan if the means to do so were there. The only reason they don't make money officially is because unlike Chess, the means are not there.
A game will allplayers who have competed at a national level! :) It's not to be taken too seriously, all in good fun!
this is a bit 2 much table talk for my taste.
Definitely quite a bit here, fortunately its all in good fun :)
