  • I went to Iron Gap in north Alabama/Tennessee in an attempt to test my new Ox Locker I recently had installed in my 2018 Jeep JLU. It...didn't go as planned.
SPOILER ALERT: I didn't realize the locker had turned off/disengaged. 🤦‍♂️

rockcrawling in a manual is super fun but a rubi t case 4:1 is almost mandatory or really deep gear nice video

Good tires are a big help wheeling for sure.

I think at this point (2:41), if you had the 2 door instead, you would have not got high centered and kept going. Could be wrong however.

The right tires mean everything. No matter how many wheels you got pulling. Also, did you air down? Don't appear so.
Thanks for video. Least you keep it real and still posted it, even if it didn't go the way I'm sure you wanted it to go. Respect.

Yeah, these tires are fantastic as long as everything is dry. And I’m usually running around 15 psi since I don’t have bead locks. It’d be nice to go much lower of course. Hopefully in the future. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!

@@JeepinBirdJLU Cool. Guess hard to see air down tire look on video. I wondered how far you could air down without bead locks. Now I know. 15 psi. Thanks.
I have the KO2's, but hope to get the KM3's someday to go mudding with the local 4x4 group. (just put them on for the event, then back to KO2/Winguard Winspike for on-road use).

Well, that was not what I expected from the title. You better post another one soon and tell everyone how you like it when you actually use it. Also, you could have pie cut the tree to get in further. No large bar needed. Even doing pie cuts on the back side would allow more movement for breaking it if you insist on that.

Oh yeah, I plan on going to another place that I’m sure will put it through it’s paces, you know, when it’s actually turned on. 🤦‍♂️ Also, good advice on the tree. The solution we came up with was buying a much larger chainsaw. 😆

Add a throttle control on your shifter… best thing beyond lockers and good tires.

whats up man! I have a D44 housing on the front porch to build for my 78 bronco. I'm considering the OX. I live in north AL huntsville and we did a bronco ride near where you are talking about. It was on the AL TN boarder. Anywany just figured I would drop a comment and check out some of your other vids.

Thanks for watching, man! Maybe we'll see each other out on the trails. I haven't posted anything in a while but I'm working on putting some stuff together. Good luck with the Bronco build! The old ones are awesome!

@@JeepinBirdJLU I tried to buy a '51 Studebaker Bulletnose on a Dodge 4x4 frame last week. Its just sitting in a field in North AL. I left my name and # on a paper plate with his neighbor - wish me luck!

Rock crawling in a manual requires deeper gears to be smooth and have control 👌🏼 I did wanna see how you liked the ox tho lol

I've since completely replaced the rear axle with a Dana 60 with an ARB. The front has also been replaced with a ProRock 44 with an Ox Locker. I'm LOVING it so far. Works great!

Your tires are not meant to be for rocks plus the air on tires should be less.

You're absolutely right. I'm now on 38" MT Baja Pro XS tires and have made it up this obstacle without issue. Size (and tread) matters. 😂 Thanks for watching!

It’s easy to crawl with a manual transmission. You just fell victim to the front lokka rear lokka syndrome of the Aussies. Unlike nails though, chainsaws will work from both sides

    • @JeepinBirdJLU
      @JeepinBirdJLU  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I definitely have a hard time with it. Not sure what you mean by the front/rear locker comment. And we circle the whole tree with the tiny chainsaw and even cut a sizable notch on the opposite side from where I was pulling and it still didn’t work. Batteries died on the chainsaw after that so the yanking ensued.

next time try cutting a block out of the side of the tree bigger than the power saw then the bar will reach through the other side
