jr132, Alright, already! You win, man! Ronson’s back-up vocals are great. I wonder why he’s doing Bowie’s high parts, though? Because Bowie’s young here, he wouldn’t have needed Ronson to cover him on the higher parts yet. Are u old enough, or knowledgeable enough to recall when this performance was recorded? And know of any (then) upcoming concerts he had planned? Cuz David might’ve just been trying to save his voice for some concert. Same kinda thing happened to Freddie Mercury and his voice, as he got older. FM began losing the upper ranges of his voice. But, David Bowie isn’t that old, here. Confusing...?

Bowie isn't dead he is undead just like his character in THE HUNGER Vampire movie. The world is controlled by generational Satanist Vampires & has been since Ancient Egypt. Royal families & banking cartel families are all inbred into one bloodline of Vampires. I think the old bat Queen Elizabeth will soon step off of the world stage to become young again but don't worry Vampires like young blood not blood from older humans which is why thousands of children disappear every year. Damned Vampires control all governments & orchestrate all wars. Up next is WW3 & a fake War of the Worlds alien invasion with Beastly hybrids created on private islands by cross hybridizing Nephilim Giants with animals, wolves, bats, lions/tigers/jaguars & even scorpions. Think about it the Beast in ALIEN looks like a scorpion/Nephilim Giant hybrid doesn't it ? The Nephilim were the offspring of the Fallen Angels who had sex with women. WRATH OF THE TITANS shows us how big Giants were. The Bible says "We were like grasshoppers in their eyes" meaning they were rather large dudes. There is no climate change but there is climate engineering. Nikola Tesla is the grandfather of Directed Energy weather control. The floods of 1927 were engineered to create bigger government for control. HAARP Gakona Alaska 1992 was the first installation in the US but I'm sure other areas of the world had HAARP installations prior to 1992. HAARP Directed Energy is used to create hurricanes, tornadoes, brutal winters, drought, wind driven wildfires, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions & earthquakes. This isn't just a theory, my friend worked on the HAARP project so I know weather control is a fact. All geo disasters are planned & engineered. They are purposely destroying crops & homes. Their goal is to kill off 6.8 billion people to "Keep humanity at a constant 500 million or less" There are going to be food & water shortages as planned. According to FBI chief Ted Gunderson the US government has built 1000 FEMA internment camps & they've purchased thousands of XL plastic reusable coffins. They also purchased 30,000 guillotines & they've built microwave death chambers. Revelation 20:4 explains the guillotines. Revelation 9:11-They have over them a king of the Abyss, Abaddon/Apollyon the Destroyer....aka Lucifer/Satan/the Devil. In the US the phone # for emergency is 911, the top selling Porsche model is the 911. On 9-11-2001 according to CNN Flight 11 ALLEGEDLY hit the N. Tower at 11 minutes to 9 then 911 days later to the day they bombed the Madrid trains. I check CNN daily & if you scroll thru the propaganda headlines you'll see they use the # 11 far to often to be a coincidence. The occult love their numbers. Sick Bastards rule the world.....until Armageddon when they will be destroyed by the Archangel Michael aka Jesus Christ & his army of Angels !!!

David Bowie survived the 70s, the era of "glam rock", ( yuk ) and he definitely matured into a remarkable, wonderful musician and charismatic performer. His accumulated works, which were studio engineered and published, amount to an impressive achievement. Mind you, David may well look queer in some of his early costumes, but that was the look he was going for. It's how "us kids" used to like. Bowie the trendsetting trendbreaking master.
+Rick Coram Yeah, he killed off Ziggy fast I believe that lasted 18 months. He's very smart & he knew that would be a dead end, though many that hang onto Ziggy would not agree with me at all lol.

I remember the night this first aired on "The Midnight Special" in 1973. I was 8 and my brother was 9. We were night owls and watched this show almost every week. On this particular night, our eyes were glued to the TV. The next day I took my allowance to the record store and bought the 45 of this song. To say that Bowie was a genius is a serious understatement.
Love this glimpse into Bowie’s soul. That smile at 3:48 -3:56 “Tell my wife I love her very much she knows” expresses so much enjoyment and love (happiness?) in the moment. (And appreciate that they played it slow vs fast as so many bands do live. ) & Mick Ronson’s harmony vocals . Wow, just wow… such an emotional song. I got chills.

He is really far out but not a lot of people know about him. Tickets are only $4 each". Aaaaaah the 70's. xozone
He was a unique talent, and the word "unique" is misused every day by idiots who do not know what it means. It means literally "ONE OF A KIND," and therefor nothing can be "VERY" unique. Something is either UNIQUE or it is NOT, and David Bowie was UNIQUE! There will never be another like him, and I am so grateful that he contributed to the amazing soundtrack of my youth and young adulthood.

Taking a holistic view of Bowie over the years - compare this to Lazarus - and realize that there was 43 years in between. Still a showman, still intense, still focused, still a consummate performer. As ever he was, ever he will be. Forever.
Great bassline, playing it's own melody. You can feel the influence of McCartney and the Beatles were huge at that time, same for the drums and Bowie's interpretation, very close to Lennon.
Never a big fan of Bowie but i liked some of his songs including this one. He was an architect of design, fashion and music in the 70's in particular. Basically he is a legend that will be remembered for a very long time.
i love the way he moves, the way he articulates words, how he looks and sounds literally out of this world, i don´t think the world will have anything like Ziggy ever again
David really changed my life. After listening to his music and watching him live, I realized there is more to myself. That I shouldn’t hide who I am in fear of being rejected. I may be an outcast but there are others like me out there. David taught me it’s okay to be a little weird. I also got the courage to come out as bisexual and genderfluid through the whole not caring about being ‘different’ thing.

There is such a beautiful give and take between David & Mick. I enjoy watching them together; more than any other “group”. Even though they are choreographed; the spontaneous vibe is a full body sense for the ear. So beautiful …
I get into phases where I want to learn and hear EVERYTHING from a band or musicians in general, books,,bootlegs, rarities, documentaries....EVERYTHING ( trust me this is getting to my pont). First it was The Beatles, then The Monkees ( highly underrated, " Me and Magdalena "proved that Mike and Micky provided one of the best Harmonies IMHO.), then The Who, The Beach Boys, Frank Zappa and NOW David Bowie. I have always loved Bowies Music, but now ? I'm at the "phase " again . That's why I recommend the Documentary "Finding Fame" .... it shows the Tenacity and Never Give Up attitude that David Bowie had. He certainly wasn't an overnight sensation and The Documentary shows this. Mick Ronson was very crucial to Bowies success. In fact, you couldn't find a better band than the one Bowie had backing him in the early 1970's Long winded, I know.... I guess it's just the OCD in me. By the way? Two other Awesome Documentaries are The Kids Are Alright and the Documentary on the Wrecking Crew, which I believe are both FREE with ADS here on TH-cam.
Suq Madiq Absolutely fantastic band! My favourite Bowie era was with The Spiders from Mars. So many albums in a short period! The later 70's "Berlin" era of LOW, LODGER, HEROES were very ground breaking. 1980 saw SCARY MONSTERS AND SUPER CREEPS. Wow! Just when he was being written out as "the past", with new acts like Gary Numan, Human League, Depeche Mode etc as "the future"! Imitators! Bowie ruled and still does posthumously! ⚡ ❤ 👍
Bowie and Mick Ronson - they did incredible things - Ziggy stardust is one of my favorite albums of all time. Pop music at its best and most imaginative.
I was raised listening to Bowie. Never has been and never will be another like him. A true artist who didn't just span genres, he defied them entirely. Creating new genres and styles seemingly at will. A true genius.
The work of David Bowie, his musical work anyway is unique; for an Artist to be a pop artist (meaning musical Artist, pop music), maintaining individuality while continually experimenting, and reinventing themselves when it suits them, to my of thinking makes them a true Artist. A very difficult quality to achieve in popular culture. I come from the world of modern jazz and Blues so some might think I wouldn't recognise his work .Well I will some it up in one word; FANTASTIC

If you haven't already, get your hands on the Santa Monica '72 gig. Best version of Space Oddity I've ever heard and Ronson REALLY shines on it. They make this version sound like a drunken jam by an average bar band IMO.
I'm truly bothered by this....Bowie passed away and now when I watch his videos I feel so melancholy....he truly was an innovator and original artist...it honestly hurts...RIP Starman
it still does :(
yes it does, very much. Love to you, we have to go on....

My dear friend Paula was there..in the front row. She was amember of the fan club and won a competition for a ticket. She sat next to Angie & Zowie..and later Wayne County. She said it started at 11am and lasted for hours as they were doing retakes. And that he had a very frugal salad for lunch. She remembers being so close shewas gazing at the light brown hair on his legs , within arm's reach. !! I shall get more info....amazing. We both adore this man..and what he gave us...And Mic was sublime
You can see the passion in his eyes

Glam Rock was great, think about Queen and even just his time as Ziggy Stardust.
@@HappypandaAJ One of the greatest glam rock bands out there was The Sweet. They also matured into an awesome heavy rock band that inspired many of the heavy metal bands of the 80's.
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. This can take you a million miles away into places you've never thought you could enter. Mysterious..so mysterious.
This live performance is even better than the original.
100,000 miles* :)
couldn't have said it better myself
To the infinite of our universe and further far away to Alpha Centauri
The best songs from Bowie were made with Mick Ronson, both were great and we miss them, may God´s love be with you forever
Bringing tears to my eyes, seeing David and Mick.......

They are both playing in heaven now 😔

I remember the night this first aired on "The Midnight Special" in 1973. I was 8 and my brother was 9. We were night owls and watched this show almost every week. On this particular night, our eyes were glued to the TV. The next day I took my allowance to the record store and bought the 45 of this song. To say that Bowie was a genius is a serious understatement.
How much was the record?
Kyle Del Rosario A record back then would cost $100 which back then was worth a lot more than $100 would be today it would probably be in the 500’s.
@@CS-om3kj wow that was pricey, although it must be worth it. Thank you! :D
but why he did so bou-vou when singing?
@@CS-om3kj LOL!
Mindblowing version! David Bowie & Mick Ronson working together is heaven for the ears ... They were music genius!
The guy playing the drums looks like he's having a lot of fucking fun.
+GeekbehindGlasses I mean, who wouldn't?
sad I never got to grow up listening to this music, jealous of the older generations!
I've been calling fan since I saw him in 1972 when I was 14. My life would have been pretty bleak without David Bowie❤
Actually David disliked his first wife immensely, hence the reason why he is winking
@@mrgreenelander4952 Yeah, no. He is winking cause he saying wife yeah right, he was gay in a time you couldn’t be open about it. My goodness, he was oozing at that moment.

If you fix your hair like that everyone will know for sure YOU! ARE! TRIPPING!" And he's like . "No, man. It's cool. I saw this flyer today and this really far out dude is gonna be in New Brunswick tonight. I listened to his music and I really like it. I am going. We should all go. He is really far out but not a lot of people know about him. Tickets are only $4 each". Aaaaaah the 70's. xozone

I hope so too.

belleguimaraess you made my day 😃😃😃
Actually he is dead if you didn't hear
Mick is singing good counter tenor as well as providing great guitar special effects. Mick is sadly an underrated musician.
He was a unique talent, and the word "unique" is misused every day by idiots who do not know what it means. It means literally "ONE OF A KIND," and therefor nothing can be "VERY" unique. Something is either UNIQUE or it is NOT, and David Bowie was UNIQUE! There will never be another like him, and I am so grateful that he contributed to the amazing soundtrack of my youth and young adulthood.
bowies great but words don't have set meanings.
@@elaethmyers3240 I suppose you are correct, and as an old school English major, I struggle with the inevitable evolution of my native language, and my desire to hold on to the traditional meaning of words leaves me in the minority. It's not the only thing I must surrender to the generations following me, but I endeavor to accept change with grace. It's not easy.
Tell my Bowie I love him very much, he knows ∞
When I see him again in God's New Order, after the mass resurrection of mankind, I'll tell him, Bubbleh, I'll pass on your love.
What I've been doing the past year, in fact, is worshipping at the alter of Bowie! Or, rather, playing in a Bowie tribute. Religiously & faithfully, learning all the lead guitar bits! Lord! He is a Rock God, is he not?

Mick Ronson is one of my favorites guitar player EVER....
The audio is great. Only a handful of singers can claim to have made such a impact as Bowie.
A handful?... I can't think of one!....
This song is a true masterpiece.
he looks so happy performing, hes brought so many people so much happiness and hes genuinely saved my life on multiple occasions
A life time of good music and good feelings has saved a lot of us, best wishes to you my friend in bowie.
In the music the vibrations of this world are all in. This is pure GOOD vibrations thanks for for yours David and the band.
The stars look very different today... without your presence....
There was no rock artist as charismatic as Bowie.

Yeah, I really like it too - it's definitely my favorite video of it.
@@melizmatea i thought this is the original version
@@blurry6599 There's a video made by Mick Rock (is that his name? The same guy who did the "Life On Mars" video. There's also a horrific one made for a promo tape his manager in the late 60's had him do...yikes! But I don't count that!

Starman left the Earth. Literally.
Gabriel well put!
When Bowie wrote this song he was still very young. this amazes me, in the era of psychedelic rock, this is one of the most beautiful things to happen to music
Love Bowie, my daughter will and her kids after her, I won't let this music be forgotten I'm 28, didn't grow up in that era but grew up listening to Bowie an many more it's def our jobs to keep this alive
Taking a holistic view of Bowie over the years - compare this to Lazarus - and realize that there was 43 years in between. Still a showman, still intense, still focused, still a consummate performer. As ever he was, ever he will be. Forever.
Great song. Mick’s harmonies are spot on perfect as is his guitar. One of my favorites of all time!
I think he does a high and a low harmony? Very cool...
that bass player is killing it
Fuck yeah bruuuh!!!
killing what ??
Great bassline, playing it's own melody. You can feel the influence of McCartney and the Beatles were huge at that time, same for the drums and Bowie's interpretation, very close to Lennon.

And a few years later , David and John would collaborate on the song ‘Fame’ from the ‘Young Americans’ album !
Trevor Bolder
Never a big fan of Bowie but i liked some of his songs including this one. He was an architect of design, fashion and music in the 70's in particular. Basically he is a legend that will be remembered for a very long time.
So why you not a fan?
You can see the passion in his eyes
David and Mick as frontmen, doesn’t get much better!!!!!🔥🔥
😻
i love the way he moves, the way he articulates words, how he looks and sounds literally out of this world, i don´t think the world will have anything like Ziggy ever again

Bowie was like, "I GET THE SKIN TIGHT STRIPY JUMPSUIT. You guys can wear whatever."

In fact, you couldn't find a better band than the one Bowie had backing him in the early 1970's
Long winded, I know.... I guess it's just the OCD in me.
By the way? Two other Awesome Documentaries are The Kids Are Alright and the Documentary on the Wrecking Crew, which I believe are both FREE with ADS here on TH-cam.
Bowie and Ronson has both incredible voices.
Pop music at its best and most imaginative.
props to the band they were badass. this is a very good version of the song. i am also very stoned
so was I last night listening to Bowie all night, fantastic✌

I was raised listening to Bowie. Never has been and never will be another like him. A true artist who didn't just span genres, he defied them entirely. Creating new genres and styles seemingly at will. A true genius.

It's amazing to see the late Mick Ronson playing with the late David Bowie. What a song...RIP, both Mick, David and Marc Bolan, too, for that matter.
I love this gig. Wonderful song. God bless David. King of glamrock.
Sensational percussion work by Aynsley Dunbar. Dunbar was an outstanding drummer, clearly in the first rank.
I'm so in love with bowie, he's the most unique artist ever. wow think I'm in love. all his music is so awesome. so glad I saw him live!!!
I hope when I pass away I hook up with David on Mars.
