The first thing I bought when I moved out on my own was matching hangers. They came from the dollar store - but are all black & that really made my closet feel "adult." & not some dumb kid.
I have no space. I have all my T-shirts rolled with a loss rubber band around them. They are in a small storage container. I can see them all at a glance. They stay neat I really love it.
I'm a righthanded person. I've split my closet with a small drawer unit in the middle. The clothes on the left side I hang facing the right, and the clothes on the right face the left. When I was young, my mother would hang up our dresses and we had to wear the dress in the front and the fresh cleaned clothes went to the back. That helped to make us wear all that we had. Thanks for sharing.
I think rolling your items works best when you are accessing them from vertical storage units, like shelves! However, for dressers and drawers, where I am accessing my items from a birds eye perspective, folding (Marie Kondo method) works best because you can see everything at once and I feel like more stuff fits! Both methods work well!
I have been doing both before they were called that! It just makes it easier to see and takes up less space, especially with towels in tight linen closets!
Plastic shoe boxes with lids are terrific! To my eye, seeing the shoes in them is a cluttered look. I print out labels for the boxes with descriptors like “white trainers,” “navy satin heels,” “retro sandals,” etc. - whatever the words are in my head for that pair of shoes. I use a large font, then cut the paper so the label takes up the end of the box. I tape the label inside the box with clear packing tape. When complete, the shoe storage area has a consistent look that feels calmer to me. It could also be done with a profile photo of the shoe for those who prefer an image to words. The clear shoe boxes are so useful that I use them all over the house, labeling them in the same way.
My closet is very neat, organized and ready to wear. I ditched all the black velvet matching hangers! I hated the dust catching on them. I used to take a lint roller and clean over 250 hangers 4 times a year when I cleaned for each season. I found slimline gray rubber hangers and bought all I needed and extras for my closet. I did the same for my husbands clothes as well but I bought all black rubber slimline hangers for him. Now I do not need to lint roll them anymore.
I upcycled an old microwave cabinet and put it in my closet to get more shelves. Removed the doors on it to make it easier to access the lower cubby. It's been so handy!
I like the flimsy hanging storage units for certain things. Even on the better quality ones I don’t like the droopiness of the “shelves,” so I customize them by cutting a piece of foam core board to fit in the bottom of each compartment. They’ve lasted for years, adding strength & structure to the storage. You could even double the boards if needed.
Matching hangers made me feel so much better about my closet lol. We have the basic plastic ones from Walmart but they are great. Kids have white small ones, my fiancé has white full size and I have black full size. Easy peasy. Once the kids get into full size hangers, they will get black or white.
I AM A ROLLER!!! and SO ENCOURAGED! about to move to a new house and need to design my new closet - it seemed the whole world was telling me I needed to learn vertical folding and I was dismayed at the thought!! Thanks for giving me permission to roll 😉
YAAASSSS GIRL to rolling clothes!! I had the epiphany that I prefer rolling clothes instead of folding and my clothes actually end up organized instead of on the floor.
My husband cannot hang a shirt on those velvet hangers , can barely hang them on any hanger 😂 so I hang all his clothes on the clear plastic hangers they come on in the store, the kind with the twirly hanger hook at the top. I used to ask to keep them and most stores will let you or used to anyways. All his hangers are the same and look nice in the closet but I just didn't have to pay for them. You can also find them at thrift stores.
This video reminded me of what my grandma used to do. Each hanger was a dress or outfit, that hanger had a little bag that hung on the neck for all the accessories for the look. Rarely did she wear the same accessory twice. It was for that dress/outfit! So when she died my sister and I gobbled up all the vintage costume jewelry, my cousins didn’t like most of it. Now that I am building a new house, with a giant closet, I am making space just for the vintage jewelry and other accessories.
In our apartment we had standard shelf and rod. I bought a ClosetMaid system installed it and use cubes so I dont have to hang much. I also got a shoe Rack and three drawer system to use up vertical space
Huggable hangers are great! I also love the look of consistent hanger types throughout the closet. Daily life taught me I have a quirk that relates to hangers: I wear polo shirts to work and mornings are always rushed. I like to whisk that polo shirt off the hanger, which means I need a slippery hanger. Pricey varnished wooden ones work well for me, so I collected them over time at stores like Marshall’s for reasonable prices. Now most my closet is wooden hangers. For some things they’re *too* slippery, so I add adhesive-backed foam strips or rubber bands wrapped at the ends of the hangers for traction.
I have a small section of my closet with the wire shelving really high so that my maxi dresses/formal dresses have enough vertical space to hang freely. I’m a roller too. When I learned about rolling for suitcases I started doing it for my tshirts and pajamas too. So many good tips on this video!
If you don't have room for a dedicated rod for a few long items you can hang a hook on the wall of the closet or on the back of your bedroom door to hang a few items on hangers. OR you can fold the long item over a velvet hanger with a crossbar.
Rolling vs folding..... how do you roll without folding first? Would love for you to show that. Also, having a place for empty hangers is important. Whenever I take something off its hanger, the hanger goes to the "empty hanger" spot and then eventually to the laundry room when I get a chance. Thanks, and love the video!
MANY excellent ideas here like rolling vs folding (tees on a shelf). Having an "interloper" area is HUGE (thank you!), which totally eliminates several related maintenance categories you have to think about! Having a rod or spot to put things on that you intend to wear is also very helpful. Another idea I read about is to hang sweaters because when you put them in a drawer you forget them. I now neatly fold and drape them over the top of a hanger and slide the sleeves into the lower rung of the hanger and cover with plastic "shoulder" covers to keep dust off.
Love your tips! I have certainly been guilty of the messy pile of shoes on the floor! BUT one thing that I disagree on is that all my clothes should be my favorites; when you have horses and also work in the garden a lot like me, you need a lot of grubby clothes that you don't mind getting horse slobber or grass stains on.
I love to cook and actually have older t-shirts that I keep to cook in since they might already have a small stain or two on them, so I don’t mind them getting dirty.
Then those “work clothes” are your favorites too! I have a “house only” category of clothes. No horses and minimal garden here, but we all need clothes to work in! 😉
Hi from Japan! I do both rolling and folding. Whatever works out best, especially when I mis calculate the fold file in drawers. I just keep it in file fold shape, and then, slightly roll to fit into the drawer so it can close. 😊
The matching hanger thing has backfired on me twice when my carefully chosen hanger were discontinued. I just not doing that again. But I love the look.
I love your suggestions, but I disagree on a few points. I love my shoe boxes because very often there is a picture and/or description of the shoe. If I want to try to find something similar online, if you put the description in, it’s easier to locate. I agree with the same hanger and longer shorter suggestion. This freed up a lot of space in my daughter’s closet😀
I’m a folder, but stagger items in drawer and can see whole stack. And I print a photo of the shoes, and tape it to end of box. Even have summer and winter ends, so can swap out shoes.
Kay, love your videos and suggestions, plus Clover is super cute. I love the hanging shoe shelves from Ikea for storing my sweaters. I roll them and one sweater is put into each shoe cubby, so when I pull a sweater out, it does not pull any other sweater out with it. The caddies are long, so you get a lot of space, but can be cut down if you have less hanging space (they are pretty inexpensive, and they are fabric). I am a very visual organizer, so keeping sweaters in drawers does not work for me, and hanging draped over the hanger takes up too much valuable rod space. Try it, you may find your aversion to hanging shelves is changed simply by changing how you use them.
I'm right handed and always preferred my clothes to hang that way but never thought of WHY. :) I always learn something from your videos Kay, thank you!
I love your tips ❤️ Ah yes, I am familiar with the interlopers. Also love the idea to have somewhere to place outfit picks! My own tip would be to have a full-length mirror near the closet and to have everything that needs to be 'picked' in full view (only put stuff like workout gear, pyjamas, and undies in closed drawers).
I'm getting read to declutter clothes & set up my closet. So glad you mentioned accessories. I now plan to put a wire jewelry rack on the side wall of my long closet. Thanks (already got matching hangers).
Another tip that works for me, for my necklaces & bracelets, is fine hooks inside a small closet door..that has a mirror on the outside, so I can see it at a quick glance.. This may not work for anyone that has loads of necklaces or bracelets, but I have about only a dozen of each, that I just rotate easily, depending on my mood / outfit..
I switched over to the huggable hangers 2 years ago and I love them. As I have some heavy winter coats, I kept a few heavy duty plastic hanger for the coat closet only. I have out of season clothes in a storage tote on my closet floor plus a bin of purses, along with my donation bag and laundry hamper. My shoes & boots (10 pairs total) are on a shoe shelf in my room. My main accessories are jewelry (I hang my necklaces on a small hook rack). I do hang all my clothes facing the same way and I hang about 85% of my clothes. My sweats, pj’s, & intimates are the only things folded. I also hang my clothes as soon as the dryer stops. I hate wrinkles and not only does putting them on hangers right away stop any wrinkles, it also stops the clothes from piling up everywhere. I recommend to everyone to try putting away the laundry as soon as the dryer stops for 1-2 weeks and just see what a huge difference it makes!! (You’ll thank me later 😉) I’ve used the backwards hanger trick on a seasonal basis and found that it really helps me realize what I do not wear. I donated a ton of winter clothing when I switched over to my summer wear. Its a continual process on reducing the number of clothing items I have but I am striving to keep only the items I love, feel comfortable in and those that fit me right now.
This is the first year I have lived in central Texas and in this house. I have no idea about and do not want bug infestations, yet I don't want to use commercial preparations in the house. My closet and the house were organized around being able to dry dust all the corner seams and ceiling seams of the rooms to prevent bugs making a home. The possessions also are organized, so that when I'm in a hurry to leave or find something, I usually can. I like adding the plastic, see thru dust protectors on hangers of out of season things. I enjoy your podcasts and am also a soprano. Congratulations on your career, it is delightful to sing.
I bought Higher Hangers and they were a game changer. They free up so much space because they hang so close to the rod. They make the closet look so much neater especially if you have a double hanging system.
Ha ha when you were talking about rooting around looking for shoes- it brought me back to many years ago I had a pair of black shoes and a pair of navy shoes the same yes you’ve guessed it I turned up to work with one black shoe and one navy shoe! Lol hello gorgeous Clover!
I had two pairs of black courts with different height heels. One day I found myself at work with one from each pair. I had such a sore back at the end of the day🤣
@@juliej6638 ha ha I think I have done that as well! Strangely enough I seem to have improved in my old age haven’t done any of those kind of things lately 😂
I love all of your ideas. I used two thin tension curtain rods that fit the width of my closet to make a shoe rack. It’s great for shoes with heels. I put them high enough to put a row of shoes (wedges & flats) underneath. I have a small basket for sandals. /. I use an S hook over my bifold door to hang the next outfit I’m wearing. I hang the necklace that I’m going to wear and put any other jewelry on the dresser. /. I did buy those flocked hangers last year (on clearance!) and my closet looks so much better. Thank you 👠 👒 👗
tension curtain rods for shoe shelves is genius! I can even "make" a flat shelf in the closet if I need to with these. Why haven't I thought of this before.
I changed all my hangers, thanks to you and it looks so much nicer. I do however still have all my shoes in their original boxes. I know exactly what every box is, because most have a small picture on them showing the shoe style. I also group them by types, such as heels, flats, boots, sandals etc. I really don't like the look of the clear plastic shoe boxes, but I do have a few clear acrylic pull out drawer shoe boxes and 2 fabric pull down front door boxes, both from the container store. I'm left handed, but I hang the reverse of what you said because I am ambidextrous.
I've always hated folding! I began rolling towels and clothing last year and haven't looked back. Also, if I put shirts or tees in a drawer, I usually forget about them for a while. Now they all go on hangers in the closet.
Love these tips. The one thing I would say about dry cleaning hangers is that I take them on trips with me because the hotels never give me and my husband enough hangers. I leave the hangers there at the end of the trip and I’m left with enough room in my case for a souvenir. Win win!
I roll most of my clothes. There are just a few that I fold, and I fold towels and sheets. I might roll after I fold partially. I can fit more in places when they are rolled. I roll everything when I pack also.
(Folder.) I love the interloper tip. I have seen you mention it in a previous video and it's been helping me ever since! I got some hooks at Target and instantly had no more piles on the chair. :)
Same problem. What worked for me was to use suction bags, and store out of season clothes under the bed. Yes, it's a pain to have to get everything out and steam each season, but it also stopped me from over buying clothes. I now have a capsule wardrobe and wear all my clothes. Either this or steal closet space from another room or if you have a basement, attic or storage room. Just be mindful of the temperature of wherever you are storing items, especially leather shoes, bags, etc.
Same here. I made use of all the space from the wood shelf that goes from side to side above my closet rod to the ceiling and put premade narrow shelves on each side to store purses and fabric boxes stacked on top each other in the middle to store out of season clothes. I removed the one long hanging rod and because I have room on each side I hung a rod on top for tops one halfway down for pants folded over hangers. On the other side I hung a high rod for jackets and shirts and under that I fit a store bought shelf for shoes. If you don't have the room on the sides to do the high low rods hang all your shorter items on one side of the rod so you can fit a small storage unit under the short items on the floor. Hope that makes sense.
@@MyCrownstar love your space bag idea. I save myself the steaming step by dampening a couple cotton flour sack dish towels and throw them in the dryer on low with the items that need dewrinkling. You don't need to leave the items in till the towels are dry just run awhile and then take each item out one at a time and keep the dryer running for the other items while you hang each item on a hanger. The dampness takes out the wrinkles in one fell swoop. Hope it works for you
I think the left/right handed hang thing only works in walk-ins... I'm left-handed, but If I hung clothes the lefty way I'd constantly smack the closet door lol
I just store my shoes in the original boxes. I don't have too many, so it's easy to know which pair is which and I know what to go for. Didn't make sense to me to buy a shoe box when they came with one. I do however buy the same hangers. Switched to the huggable a few years ago and loved them. Lost in a house fire and went with plastic ones to replace and wish I had stuck with the huggable. But having the same hanger is a nice touch.
Last fall I finally purchased some thin velvet hangers! I only purchased a few to see if I’m going to like them...well, I finally did it!! The only exception is my sweatshirts...I feel like they won’t hold my heavy sweatshirts...other than that, all matching!! Love it! I’ve always separate style of tops & color coordinated them.
Hello from Vancouver, BC, Canada! I now have a name for the clothes that sleep with me on the other side of the bed....interlopers!🤣 I've been binge watching your videos. On another video you suggested setting aside a portion of the closet for the interlopers. I actually jumped off the couch and did just that. What a game changer! I also have an Ikea hook that could become my valet, if I can get my head together to figure out what I'd like to wear the next day. :) Really enjoying your videos. You're inspiring me to value my home.
Love love love this video, some great tips. Would like to see more like this, for what not to do when you organize dishes, pantry, linen/utility closet, under the kitchen sink, bathroom cupboards or lack thereof...I'm a folder/ball it up/stuff it in whatever drawer or flimsy folding fabric shelf is available/leave it with the rest of the clean clothes in the laundry basket and grab as needed 🤭
My favorite topic! Matching hangers make so much sense. I went to walmart and purchased the 10 pack of black hangers. It was easy and inexpensive solution.
Hi Kay! This video was so helpful, thank you. I actually paused it and started reorganizing my closet lol. I rearranged the long and short items and made better use of my vertical space. I love organizing and your channel is my favorite because I always learn something new. Also I'm a folder (Marie Kondo style) but I roll my clothes when packing for a trip. 🖤🖤
I like the “Konmari” folding for t-shirts. Storing vertically helps me see what’s what. I’d recommend putting desiccant in plastic shoe boxes. Trust me. 🙄 Hanging shoe organizer works great for Crocs or sandals. They’re very lightweight so no sagging. 100% on only keeping favorites!
Thank you! I really need to overhaul my wardrobe. It’s a walk in but it’s driving me crazy ! I can’t find what I need easily. There’s so many good ideas for me here, thank you so much. (I’m a person who also dislikes folding, and now I am going to try rolling instead). You rock!
I have a t-shirt shelf and for that, I fold. I feel like it looks neater, and I've maintained it for quite some time now. I have some small containers for like...tank tops or camis, and again I fold those, but I "file" them Marie Kongo style. Now outside of the closet, my jammies are in an old dresser and those I roll! Much easier to see in the weird, deep drawers, I don't have to dig, and I can see everything when I open the drawer!
I just found you this week and have watched at least a dozen of your videos. I gotta tell ya, I love your humor and your "Don't let me see you using hangers from the laundromat" line. I look forward to seeing all your new home videos. I hope Clover is able is able to settle in without too much struggle. Oh, another one of your lines that I love is, "Stop. Just stop doing this" haha
I absolutely adore that shirt! I fold most of my clothes and roll the towels. I wish I had room to hang all my clothes but I have to share the closet. Have a wonderful day, Kay!
Left handed and all of my clothes face left due to my own OCD thing. And I had to move everything off of the floor for air flow, otherwise we have mold in the closet. It is a southern problem. Hangers for almost everything. I do not fold. When I pack for a trip I put each outfit rolled in a small bag to make getting dressed easier. :-)
So, I’m in the south too and there’s a product you can buy specifically designed to pull moisture out of small spaces like closets. If I recall, this packet or jar of dehumidifier looks like crystals and you won’t even believe how much water it collects (you replace it periodically). Hope that helps.
I love the hangers you mentioned. I changed all mine to that king and it definitely made a difference. I also do not keep anything that isn’t my favorite.
One thing I did I stead of turning hangers was just wear all my clothes without doing laundry and see how long I can go before I run out of options I like/need. I end up rewashing pants and undergarments of course, but the last shirts and dresses told me a lot about either my taste or the season/weather
I personally find for me, I have 2 sizes of hangers, the reason for this is I use fatter hangers for my pants so that the hangers don't bend and eventually break, but this is often not necessary for my shirts so I use regular size hangers for them. I don't wear sweaters so that would be the only time a fatter hanger would be helpful with a shirt. I separate my clothes by what they are, pants, shirts, tanks, and so forth, then I color code each section which then each section is separated and labeled. I use a freestanding shelf to organize my extra medical supplies that are stored in my closet since I only own 3 pairs of shoes and I do not wear alot of accessories. I have a hook in the door about midway since I am in a wheelchair. This gives me easy access each morning to getting dressed. My caregiver helps me at night with choosing the following days clothes, and putting up everything when it is washed.
I am a folder, possibly partly from having worked in clothing retail for a bit and partly from Mari Kondo. Definitely agree though that it's about what works for you - whatever doesn't isn't going to give you that ‘feel’ of being in a space you can move through and use easily.
The hangers!! It is such a worthy investment to do. I also love having my shoes in the clear boxes. I can stack, I shift them around seasonally. Making space for accessories is my take away from this video, thanks Kay!
You are so right about the hangers! The dry cleaners hangers are immediately replaced with the huggable hangers when brought home from the cleaners. I also remove empty hangers from the closets and hang them in the laundry area. My husband and I place our dirty clothes and towels in the hampers after use. There are not any piles of dirty laundry in our bedroom, bathroom nor closets.
Thanks Kay! i would like to take a nap too Clover!! I have found that I while I also use the same hangers you do, I like one color for my dresses which are on one side of my closet, another color for my tops and jackets, and another for my pants. Because then I can see at a glance just how many of those things I have, and if I put them back in the wrong place (heaven forbid!), I can easily see that and right that wrong. As for the interlopers, I turn those inside out so that I don't forget they are interlopers. I've made the mistake of just hanging them back otherwise. Love the valet hook idea! I also bought TCS clear plastic drawer kind shoe boxes so that I can stack and not have to take a lid off. But I put them on the floor. I have photographed them and put them on the front so I can see them much easier. I used to do this even when I kept shoes in the regular boxes. Oh...and I am a folder.
This video of yours so much feels like "What your mom should have told you about closet organisation". You could make a "Mom, how do i?" series.* Love it, thank you "mom" 😄 (no sarcasm). * Referring to the TH-cam channel "Dad, how do I?"
I'm a folder (I like the konmari method) but I think it takes a lot of time and that's why my washed and dry clothes hang on the drying rack for quite a long time before I finally fold it and put it away. I used to roll my clothes for travelling but never tried it in the closet, thanks for the idea, I'm going to try that out and see if I like it better.
@@jceberle2724 those are the things my channel is about. FIbromyalgia content is just starting to be made but I plan on posting fibro content every Wednesday and my other content goes up every Monday
I am a folder and folded things go in my dresser. I use the hanging shelves for my out of season shoes and then I have a huge box that sits underneath for for my out of season clothes. My closets are very small but I use every inch that I can.
The left hand/rigt hand thing also depends on how the closet is built. My opens to the left, so I use right hand to take the clothes out despite being lefthanded.
Thanks for the great tips!! I am going to try rolling the clothes, bc my family hates folding clothes, and they might help me with that task if they can just roll them.
I'm moving soon and am planning for a suitable solution for my interlopers. I realized that's the main reason I can't keep my closet organized. Especially in colder seasons with layering. I also avoid unnecessary washes for longevity
So I actually purchased a folding board from TCS and have used it trying to be careful smoothing as I go. Previously I tended to roll tops. I wear plus size clothes and honestly no matter how I fold/roll or how extra carefully it’s done the (usually t-shirts and shorts) mostly come out wrinkled. 😕 Am about to move into a tiny home with less hanging space and highly decluttering items. So I’ve done everything I know to do and am at an impasse. If you have any suggestions/alternative options please reply!
@@2011Ecstatic you must’ve missed the part where I wrote we’re moving into a tiny house. Hanging space is extremely limited in it so that’s why I’m trying to find a folding style that will work. Guessing am just going to have to keep a steamer handy.
T shirts, shorts, leggings, and other casual clothes can be folded lengthwise into halves or thirds, then rolled, then stood on end in a basket or bin on a shelf or the floor. Would anyone really care if these casual clothes were slightly wrinkled? If so, you can run a steamer over them before wearing them. The key is to roll them TIGHTLY so they take up the least amount of space. I have a small closet, and I'm able to fit all four seasons of my wardrobe, including shoes (except for winter coats) in that closet plus 4 small dresser drawers. Off-season clothing and accessories fit in six bins on the top shelf of the closet.

She was the originator of that concept!
The right and left handed hanging tip is so genius! I’ve been struggling with that for years. Thank you!
Absolutely love your tip about only having your favorites in your closet. Brilliant and simple!
When I rode...my gross barn clothes were my favorite too LOL!
Anything that is stained or torn becomes painting clothes, I don’t have to worry about ruining them and I know they are comfortable.
Hi from Japan! I do both rolling and folding. Whatever works out best, especially when I mis calculate the fold file in drawers. I just keep it in file fold shape, and then, slightly roll to fit into the drawer so it can close. 😊
I use the hanging shelves for pocketbook storage. It works great!
The matching hanger thing has backfired on me twice when my carefully chosen hanger were discontinued. I just not doing that again. But I love the look.
D’OH! 🤦🏽♀️ Sending good vibes for lasting hanger designs!
That's happened to me, too! But, I just keep using coordinated colors, instead. You could always coordinate your hangers to your clothes.
I love the way you handle interlopers!
Interlopers! My biggest issue lol. I didn’t know it had a name!
I keep a special set of hangers at the front of the closet for those items, and I love that I have a word for them now! 😂
I put my interlopers on an over the door hanger.
Never heard of such a thing! Wow.
this sounds rad! Thank you for mentioning it!
@@gillianhill4757 Ah - one benefit of getting older! I had to give up heels to avoid any confusion. 😀
Me too!
Me too. Only me that noticed though.
I enjoyed the interlopers piece and the ideas for shoes. I'm inspired to start a TH-cam channel to help me organize ☺.
Love these ideas but I have a small closet in an older house would love to have some ideas for that.
NO MORE WIRE HANGERS! EVER!!!
Hahaha. 😹
Teenage years - wire hangers. Young adult years - plastic hangers. Now - non-slip slender hangers. 😲 I'm never going back to plastic or wire hangers.
Most dry cleaning businesses will recycle them. Also your local laundromat may accept them too.
The cleaners will take the wire hangers back.
Love our copper wire hangers...each to their own.
Those container store shoe boxes are also great for organizing drawers.
It's a happy day when you post a video. 🌻
Owen and Carson are so adorable - and so BIG! So many great ideas in this video, Katheryn!!!
Trust me. 🙄
Hanging shoe organizer works great for Crocs or sandals. They’re very lightweight so no sagging.
100% on only keeping favorites!
Marie Kondo totally turned me into a folder!
OMG! Matching hangers….🤯🤯🤯 can’t believe what a difference this made in our closet!
My favorite tips are hanging clothes according to length! The best type of shelves to use in small closets.
Thank you algorithm for popping this in my feed. As I need to organize mine
I have become a roller because it causes less wrinkles than folding.
I am a folder but I am finding that I am hanging more and more things, especially with 3 kids! BTW your hair is so beautiful in this video
I resisted replacing my hangers for years but seriously the best trick ever!! 🐶💕
Thank you for this video. I’m about to reorganise my walk in closet, so many great ideas, I’ve saved 😊❤️
I love the hangers you mentioned. I changed all mine to that king and it definitely made a difference. I also do not keep anything that isn’t my favorite.
One thing I did I stead of turning hangers was just wear all my clothes without doing laundry and see how long I can go before I run out of options I like/need. I end up rewashing pants and undergarments of course, but the last shirts and dresses told me a lot about either my taste or the season/weather
i like the "forgetting about getting ready" totally relate to that!
My husband and I are both left-handed…I’ve never thought about our things hanging in the “wrong” direction! 😂
Love this and your closet layout! I'm a folder and a roller...fold up nice ready to be sold and send. And rolled for shelving and packing 👍💗
A friend of mine showed me the rolling trick and it's what I always do now for things that don't need to be on a hanger
I love the idea of shopping your closet and getting rid of items you wouldn't buy presently in the store! I'm gonna do that today!
I am a folder, possibly partly from having worked in clothing retail for a bit and partly from Mari Kondo. Definitely agree though that it's about what works for you - whatever doesn't isn't going to give you that ‘feel’ of being in a space you can move through and use easily.
Thanks! Good ideas. Fun delivery too
No I’m particular about matching all my hangers alone color pink my room is pink and black I love organizing my closet is so neat ! I hang by color
Lol!! You are so awesome!🥰 I greatly despise metal hangers!! Thank you so much for being on the same page ❤ I love your posts.
Some great tips here Kay.. So well timed 4 me, as I'm getting a new built-in wardrobe & was wondering, how best to plan out the internal areas..👏👏
The hangers!! It is such a worthy investment to do. I also love having my shoes in the clear boxes. I can stack, I shift them around seasonally. Making space for accessories is my take away from this video, thanks Kay!
Ikea and Walmart both have bulk wooden hangers in white, natural an at Ikea, black. GREAT ONES!!
Thank You For All Of The Tips.
Thanks Kay! i would like to take a nap too Clover!!
You could make a "Mom, how do i?" series.*
Love it, thank you "mom" 😄 (no sarcasm).
Hopefully you noticed all the headbands that fell down? Probably during editing! Lol!
LORD YES. 😬
Loving this! Love your energy
What’s the Fibromyalgia Fitness Organization?
@@jceberle2724 those are the things my channel is about. FIbromyalgia content is just starting to be made but I plan on posting fibro content every Wednesday and my other content goes up every Monday
I am a folder and folded things go in my dresser. I use the hanging shelves for my out of season shoes and then I have a huge box that sits underneath for for my out of season clothes. My closets are very small but I use every inch that I can.
The left hand/rigt hand thing also depends on how the closet is built. My opens to the left, so I use right hand to take the clothes out despite being lefthanded.
Loved the tips you shared in a light and entertaining way! I’m a proud “roller”, by the way. 😅
I tend to use same uniform hangers but it need to be in different colors for me as to identity which is my favorite and which is so-so
So I actually purchased a folding board from TCS and have used it trying to be careful smoothing as I go.
Pant hangers for the shorts (those clip on ones) and hang up all shirts, tops, blouses.
