      Good boxing analysis. If I was good at making videos and editing, I would make similar predictions and picks on boxing and MMA. So, if you don't know, Herring and Stevenson have some undercooked beef. What I mean is on Shakur's 21rst birthday, Shakur got into s scrap on the Las Vegas strip. The person with who he got into that scrap was indeed Mr. Herring. And it's rumored that Herring did get the best of Shakur that left him with a little shiny over his eye. So, I'm hoping the young Stevenson remains focus and unattached to what took place some 2-years ago.
      But my game plan to beat Herring is to take advantage of what he does best. What I mean is since Herring loves to set up the check hooks and seldomly moves on his toes. Therefore, I would utilize a lot of lateral movements and pop shots with feints, hard leading rights against his southpaw stands, and circle or pivot out to catch him again when he attempts to retaliate. I also would not duck down and pop shots to the body during this particular fight because Herring is very good timing that movement to a check hook.
      If Shakur does do the ducking body shot, he needs to offset his rhythm so he can't be timed. Instead of taking that chance, I know how a boxer tends to lose focus and be careless. Sometimes, I would jam his leading hand from an angle and explode to the body or head. Lastly, if I get a person's timing, or if I know that I can counter their power hand, I would purposely circle into that their power direction to give them false confidence to throw the power punch. At that point, I would counter their power hand, but this is very dangerous! You would have to have that outside angle and timing or the inside angle to throw a counter uppercut. If not, you can be defeated. I would hope with Shakur still getting that excellent sparring from Bud, that Shakur can capitalize on Herring.

      @@JEDIAL9 The first time I edited a video was the first video on this channel 8 months ago and it was pretty bad editing wise. If you have boxing knowledge and some time to contribute, you should just do it.
      But no, I didn’t hear about a street scrap between Shakur and Herring. That’s interesting.

      @@BoxingGems Nah, I'm good. I appreciate the good look and content, though. At the moment, my focus is on other things. On another note, when I was looking up the blurred Vegas fight video that you can't really see who's who, anyway, I ran into Jemal Herring training at Bud's gym. So, Shakur and Jemal are or were stablemates...? I know Shakur trains all over the place, but I thought he made Bud's gym his main boxing home? So, training in the same gym, means that they are very accustomed to each other's style.
      I remember when I first started training at my old spot in Kennedy Park. On my first day, I was over on the other side of the gym doing pullups and a couple of kids my size came over to size me up. I was like man, already, c'mon. So, everything probably changed after Herring and Shakur got into it in Vegas. Now, I wonder if this is a Top Rank setup? I wonder how Bud feels about this. Well, I know how Bud feels. "It is what it is...we can settle it either way." LOL. Man, this is going to be a crazy fight! th-cam.com/video/MSxsuNTiMQ4/w-d-xo.html

    From my years of watching boxing, the younger champ typically comes out on top when the matchup is boxer vs boxer. I just feel athleticism plays a huge part in execution in this matchup. It’s like Dawson vs Hopkins. Hopkins to me has the better fight IQ but lost to the younger man that night

    Bro when two Orthodox fighters box it's natural to move toward the power hand. The same thing applies to southpaw vs southpaw. Look at Stevenson when he boxes Toka Khan he moves 95% to the right. The smartest thing to do is move left to make them reach with the left hand. Study Loma vs Rigo you will see. In reality, Herring is moving the right way but like you said he has a blind spot on his right side. Plus he loses concentration. Good shit for sure I would love to do a breakdown with you someday.

      Tim Bradley? If somehow this is “Desert Storm” then holler at me fam. Boxinggems22@gmail.com
      When I rewatch my vids I always see certain mistakes or think I could have explained certain sequences better. It’s par for the course of editing and speaking through these long ass vids. I was more so referencing Herrings escape routes when I was talking about moving right towards the ops backhand instead of left and away from it while using lateral movement. What’s “natural”, we can debate that, but I feel you especially jabbing circling the direction of your lead hand and leg which is right for southpaws. I also feel you if you’re saying that Southpaws are used to fighting orthodox fighters so it’s more natural to move to the right and away from the back hand of orthodox opponents. Loma vs Rigo, Loma definitely made it a point to move away from Rigo’s back hand to the left. Once he got more aggressive he would attack while circling right but he constantly walked back to the left.
      There wasn’t a lot of lateral movement in the Stevenson vs Clary fight. Stevenson was walking down Clary and Stevenson was really just following him while Clary was reverse stepping then eventually stepping back and to the right when he approached the ropes.
      “I think we’re goin to see Shakur get hit more in this fight then any other fight. Southpaws (like you said Dre) are not used to fighting southpaws. They’re used to eluding shots from a right hander so they have a tendency of moving towards that left hand, the power hand” -Tim Bradly (Stevenson vs Clary fight)

    • @timbradley2766
      @timbradley2766 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Understood Brodie, it's me the Desert Storm I will hit you up. I see a lot of the same things that you see. I also see that Stevenson sometimes will lean inside with a high guard. Which is a perfect opportunity for Herring to land his signature left uppercut on the inside.

    • @BoxingGems
      @BoxingGems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought about adding clips about the uppercut for both fighters. Decided against making the vid longer but I agree, Herring will have at least a couple opportunities to land the shot before Stevenson adjusts. Against Shafikov, Herring leaned that tall frame over on the inside with a high guard and got caught with uppercuts as well.

    Shakur is simply quicker and more dominant. He has the quicker feet, hands, reflexes and ring IQ. Honestly I really like the herring kid and so I really wish he wasn't fighting my p4p pick Shakur Stevenson. If he doesn't fall early he will most certainly be in for a long brutal night of top level punishment. This move of fighting Shakur makes absolutely no sense at all, to me it is little more than a clear and obvious mistake or just the gravest miscalculation of judgement of his own abilities but even more so the skill set level of Mr. Stevenson. For me this could easily be taken as an absolute set up that I truly hope doesn't ruin him from the sport of boxing. Rooting for a early stoppage even though I know how much Stevenson likes to pick his opponents apart

    This fight comes down to teams. You can throw anything that has taken place Herring in the past out of the window due to him moving over to team B&B with Crawford. They broke him down and rebuilt his entire game. On top of him learning under B&B now, it’s not too many teams that know Stevenson more intimately than BoMac. It will be more competitive than most people think because of these factors.

    • @BoxingGems
      @BoxingGems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear that. They definitely know each other and it shouldn’t be a walk in the park for Stevenson. I’m really interested in what they will think up. I just think no matter the game plan if Herring can’t hurt Stevenson, it will be a skill matchup. Inside or outside, Shak has a higher level of boxing skills and he’s more technically sound. Harder to hit clean with better reflexes and awareness. Shak UD seems like a safe bet.

      Possibly. Frampton was a very small fighter compared to Herring/Shakur but now we are comparing the power of Shakur and Herring. At 130 they each have 3 knockdowns and 1 knockout. Shakur has been at 130 for 3 fights, Herring has been at 130 for 5 fights. What I was saying is, Herring isn’t known for power so I’m not sure about your theory of Shakur “respecting his power too much” like arguably he did with Nakathilia. Herring has 25 fights, 11 knockouts. Nakathilia had KO’d something like his last 10 opponents before Shakur. Herring ain’t rockin like that.
