    I used PPG DMD 1683 Black (100g)
    649 Clear (50g)
    PRLX 1 Pearl (1g)
    Then used the DMD 4000 Clear over the color.
    Using the 100 grams of black, 50 grams of 649 clear, and 1 gram of the red pearl is an easy ratio to add or subtract depending on how much sprayable material you want.

    Something I've come to realize while trying to recreate this effect is that there is a good chance the camera is polarizing the light and in actuality the pearl doesn't have the same narrow viewing angle as it appears to here.

    How much pearl per amount of clear coat. Or do you add it to the paint. If it's in the clear how many coats. Lay it wet or like a base. And if so. the last coats of clear is it without pearl. It's a great color. Without the price of those candy. And it looks beutifull.

    Awesome. This is actually what I am looking for my beloved Seat Toledo 20VT :) I just want a subtle golden/bronze reflection when the sun hits the car but overall I want a deep black car. Not chamaleonic paint you know. So I think I will tell my painter to use PPG black base paint and mix 0.5% bronze pearls with the clear coat. What do you think? I mean if they use 2kg black paint then use 10 grams of pearls (200 lesser amount)

    • @MrDrEwEvAnS
      @MrDrEwEvAnS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say just mix tiny amounts of both and spray a sample to look at it out in the sunlight or with a sun gun.
      When I did this one I learned its super easy to over do it with pearls. I cut my formula by 75% to get this look.

      I used all PPG materials,
      100 grams of 1683 black
      50 grams of 649 clear
      1 gram of PRLX1 (red pearl)
      Then shot Deltron DC 4000 clear over the color.
      That's how I custom made this color so it was an easy formula to add or subtract depending on how much you need mixed. You can play with the amount of pearl to change how much it flops in the sunlight.

      I added the pearl to the basecoat on this one. If you add pearl to the clear you will want to go over it with minimum of 2 coats of normal clear. The UV rays will break it down if you don't, unfortunately I sold that car a year after I painted it.
