Beth has the best female voice in the entire universe, one time I heard someone said the the main portishead's instrument is Beth's voice, she is amazing... you can listen "Glory Box" and then "Nylon Smile", and you will feel touch in the same beautiful, strange and oniric way...
I love how the singer, Beth Gibbons, absolutely nails then entire performance, then apologises at the end that some of her performance was a "bit dodgy in places"!
Ive loved Portishead since 1994 and have no idea how many hundreds of times ive played thier songs 9especially the first 2 albums but i cant say that I enjoy the live performances anywhere near as much as the studio edits, they are so much more refined. However, when she sang roads at Glasto a few years ago i cried.
This entire record is a work of art. It has influenced every single artist who performs today whether they are aware of it or not. But as a general rule...they eventually experience it and use the way "Dummy" used sounds as a training program for working sounds into a song.
This live is amazing. All mine, roads, sour times. So many beautiful songs. In your trip hop journey you can listen to Massive Attack of course or you could also try the first album from the band Archive. Their album Londinium is underestimated but one of the best trip hop album ever made with songs like Londinium, nothing else, headspace, last five, so few words... a true masterpiece
Such a chill, bluesy sound. Very cool, love the guitar and vocals. Someone pass the joint please☺Thanks guys for this totally relaxing reaction...🌆 HNY!
This whole show is amazing. Their first two albums should be a part of everyone's life, they're a vibe, especially the first one, Dummy. Check out the song Roads from this show.
I'd like to introduce you two to another female legend, in case you're interested "Carly Simon - That's The Way, I've Always Heard It Should Be - 1971" Carly has an incredible voice, and she is a masterful pianist and a wonderful storyteller. Be prepared to have your ears blessed with some of the most soulful storytelling that you've ever heard...magical stuff, guys❤🔥🎶🎹
That is a great request!! The one live with George Harrison and Art Garfunkel backstage is so haunting. Love Carly - other good ones "Legend in Your Own Time", "Anticipation" from the same year (1971) Of course "You're So Vain" with Mick Jagger is a classic too. Thanks for suggesting her to the brothers😊
Please react to Goldfrapp. Their live performances of Lovely Head are incredible. Alison gives her all when performing. You wont be disappointed, I promise.
Here is a special request for you both, but especially for you, Patrick. This is one of the best live vocal performances you will ever see. Promise. It is Whitney Houston singing live .. the 1990 Arista Records live performance. It HAS to be this particular performance. 1990 Arista Records. Stunning performance. She received a standing ovation… no surprise there, right? I hope you make time for it. Thank you!
Oh you did! Yay They weren't everyone's cup of tea but yes, people who were high were probably more... receptive! I can almost guarantee a large percentage of the audience was off their face.
The sound you were looking for is the DJ's 4:17 at the right. With 2 turntables they used to play back and forth with a vinyl record in nightclubs You haven't experienced that, you're too young. They used 2 turntables to do their mixt. Rappers used that too very often
This song is one of the songs in the fantastic soundtrack of the wonderful movie Stealing Beauty by Bernardo Bertolucci. Highly recommended movie and the soundtrack is awesome. Liv Tyler is wonderful to look at also.
For what it’s worth, I wish you guys would react to Mariah Carey and her song called, Hero, live performance. Also , Whitney Houston, I Will Always Love You, the official video. And lastly, both Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston singing together on stage, live. The song is called, When You Believe. If you don’t see and hear these performances, you’re missing out.
A great song for you to react to is a song called, Walking in Memphis , by Marc Cohn. I recommend reacting to the official video version. Powerful and emotional song. You’re missing out if you don’t see and hear this. Thanks.
You guys have only reacted to one ELO? You'd really like Starlight, Prologue-Twilight, Tightrope, Last train to London, Concerto for a rainy Day, Ticket to the moon, and so many others...
Hello Guys. I have a request that i love you would do. Please react to "Still gota the blues" by Gary Moore. Please it is mindblowing the song, by the great musician he was. 🙏 Thank you. Great channel. Regards from Portugal
Hey would you comment on Whitney Houston’s 1990 “Greatest Live of All” at Arista’s 15th Anniversary. I feel her voice control is awesome and would like to hear from you. Thanks.
Can I ask a question Russian history has tremendous musical talent from tchaikovsky to many others so there must be some great Russian rock bands Can anyone give me a name or song to check out? Thanx
This didn't do it for me. She seemed to mumble most of the way through except the chorus. The background music was good, but I don't really think it was in line with the lyrics. The music was saying something else rather than what she was singing.
this song is almost 30 years old and I keep on being moved each time I listen to it. Thanks for this one !
Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky...Just young talented Bristol kids...making a brilliant - influencial Musical mark...if only for a short time.
Love Morcheeba too
Moloko too
It endures...

I wore this CD out. It still sounds like nothing I've ever heard since. Thanks for the reaction, bros.
Not only the cigarettes 🚬 but she goes through a few cans of Budweiser as well in this concert. Absolutely epic. This whole concert is fire 🔥
Dummy was the best and most significant album ever released. Changed the path of music for sure.
Wow..that was spectacular! Thanks for reacting to this. I haven’t heard Portishead before😊
Look into their 1994 album "Dummy" the whole thing is great 👍
@@joemachine4714 Thanks Joe!
Very cool song - so atmospheric. Love the fuzzy guitar. Happy New Year!!
Massive Attack - Angel. If Glory Box got you into Portishead then Angel will get you into Massive Attack for sure 🥳🤩
The amazing world of Portishead ❤ I'm glad new people are picking up on them these days, it seems unfair to keep them for ourselves 😊
Early 90s triphop … hard to beat

There was college before and after Portishead. It sounded so unique at the time.
So beautiful i Want to die with this music in my ears ❤

From Portished's 1994 album "Dummy", the whole album is great and chill like this.

That switch back at the end. Goosebumps.
So damn smooth. Love!!!

Roads from the same gig is epic
Oh you did! Yay They weren't everyone's cup of tea but yes, people who were high were probably more... receptive! I can almost guarantee a large percentage of the audience was off their face.
A similar style...different, but somehow related is Julee Cruz...maybe Rockin Back into my Heart....
Wow. So good. ❤️
PORTISHEAD ☆ ROADS Live

At last...! Postishead....!!
Maybe the song "All i need" from the band Air and the album Moon Safari is something for you. I love your reactions.
A lot of the sounds you’re asking about come from their DJ Andy Smith ✌️😁🎶
A great song for you to react to is a song called, Walking in Memphis , by Marc Cohn. I recommend reacting to the official video version. Powerful and emotional song. You’re missing out if you don’t see and hear this. Thanks.

Triphop school in Bristol UK...
Reminds me of Isaac Hayes' song "Walk on By"
Actually it samples Issac Hayes's "Ikes Rap II".
Yes, Thank You@@martinwarford1389
Great tune. Love all of their albums. For nice cover of this track it’s worth checking out the version by John Martyn.
WOW loved this band. Not sure if you will...
No one can syncronyze signing and smoking like Beth Gibbons.
Try their track Mysterons next
React to "Roads";it's amazing
I subscribed to these guys from their beginning but since they rarely post, I will share my $ with a more consistent channel.... peace ...out ~
Please react to BGKO (live in Vilnius)- Od Ebra Do Dunava
Hello Guys. I have a request that i love you would do. Please react to "Still gota the blues" by Gary Moore. Please it is mindblowing the song, by the great musician he was. 🙏 Thank you. Great channel. Regards from Portugal
Hope you guys are ok. It seems like you haven't been as active lately.

Hey guys, reaction to the garden - Guns N’ Roses. 🙏🏻

She said, Thankyou very much. Sorry it was a bit dodgy in places.
No way was that dodgy Beth.
