The OnReal 4K is $106 and the Yi Lite is $100 at Amazon.com on November 29th. The OnReal 4K is way over-saturated and has a lot of pixelation with minimal motion which is not good. It's fine as a cheap budget camera but for $70 more, you can get a huge jump up in performance and quality with the Yi 4K. The Yi 4K is also true 4K and not interpolated. For budget conscious buyers, I'd recommend the Yi Dash Cam which is only $40 on Amazon.com right now. I have both the Yi Dash Cam and Yi 4K which replaced my GoPro Hero4 Silver.
I totally agree that there are better options out there but for $100 I think this is a great option. You can always "but for XXX more" your way up to a Hero 6. I'm definitely going to look in to more of the yi cameras (because I think they are great too). Do you like the dash cam or 4k better?
The 4K is much better so I use it as my main action cam on my motorcycle and for family events. I keep the Dash Cam in my car. With the low aperture it's great for filming at night. Going from the OnReal 4K or Yi Lite to the Hero 6 is $400 versus $70 more for the Yi 4K. That's a steal for an action camera with performance on par but clearing not matching the Hero 5. Amazon.com was even selling the Yi 4K for only $150 for 2 weeks leading up to Black Friday.

Just got one of these from Amazon "Onreal store" (because of your review) and I will tell you this review is spot on! For the money this is a no-brainer... Solid feel build, nice touch screen, the stabilizer is amazing. Was planning on buying a feiyu spg gimbal... Just saved myself another $150! Arrived well packaged, super fast with Prime, and outstanding customer service - I accidentally ordered a wrong spare battery and they immediately sent the right ones free of charge. Answered all questions I had in timely manner. What else is there to ask for??. Except buying one more camera for my daughter !!!!! Again I am really happy I bought this. Leevi: i bought a soocoo c10 cause i didnt know what to get and I didnt want to spend alot of money and the camera be worthless. i did my research and i cant tell you how many videos on cameras and this camera has great audio and beautiful picture but i just wont record more than 10 min without going into a loop recording and that is with the loop turned off.
I recently bought sjcam sj8 pro. I been a fan of sjcam since sj4000 wifi but i went with this top model. My sj8 pro was terrible. Its obvious that they rushed the launch of sj8 line. My front lcd was installed so low... half of lower fonts were cut off. Even after lastest firmware upgrade which is 1.21 it was still very buggy. Changing mic volume would make mic not work till restarting tbe camera and it consistantly froze on me. I would stay aWay from sj8 pro till they ironed out all the bugs in future firmware upgrades.
The only negative I have looking at the OnReal video is that the color appears over saturated. Side by side comparison to the YI really shows that clearly. Are there setting to address that? I'm looking for a good inexpensive action camera for cycling. Still confused about the best option.

The Everyday Dad you'd be required to purchase a 3.5mm Mic adapter which has a 90° C usb connector at one end thus allowing you to plug directly into the camera they you'd plug the external Mic into the unit. As far as I am aware, GoPro sell a unit as an official accessory on Amazon to allow the use of external Mics via mini sub port on camera to 3.5mm on Microphone. Either way and if you didn't mind you'd have to spend a minimal outlay to bypass the camera's internal Mic to use an external setup.
Ever thought of reviewing video sunglasses or ballpoint pen cameras? The sunglasses would be a great add on during vacations or for drone flying as they are hands free.

Hi, can you use another microphone for this camera instead? as looking for a good, reliable vlogging camera, i have the gopro hero 5 but dont want the adapter dangling down and the huge mess, so looking for an alternative as i'm going to use my gopro just for sports now but want a cheap, cheerful vlogging camera but i would only buy if it allows a external microphone like the videomicro or something similar.
OnReal 4k or Yi 4k? which one do you suggest? I'll basically be using them to get aerial footage most of the times so the sound quality is not an issue for me. Can you suggest some other ones at a similar cost too?
Does the device allow image stabilization at 4K? My Garmin Virb Ultra 30 has stabilization restricted to 2.7K. At 4K, stabilization is not an option. Hopefully Garmin will introduce stabilization at 4K through a future download.
Thanks. For absolute clean footage, I think a gimbal is required anyways, as seen in your clip at segment 6:17. When the 4K option is used in combination with the gimbal, the TH-cam clips are much more pleasant to watch because of the "polished" feel.

What is the processor in the camera? 4k24fps makes me think that the 4k is actually interpolated rather than true 4k - there's loads of good interpolated cameras out there. F1.8 nice - you could have done some low light shots to show this off.

The watch does work you have to pull the touch screen down and there's more menus were you turn on the watch and more options.i really love this camera

Have you tried ANDOER with dual screen, yet ??? I've got one and it is pretty nicely close to a GoPro3&4.... And it cost me $ 40.00 Works as a good knock off by me...The wife bought a Hero 5 and I wasn't going to spend the money...We did a comparison and the video shots were not far off either !!!

Plug it into a laptop and the screen is supposed to give a choice of ""Mass Storage" or "Camera"". Mine just goes into camera mode so I can't get the pictures out of the camera except by removing the microSD card. Please help.
I'm thinking about getting something that I can use for hunting and that I can also mount to my dash while 4-wheeling. Nothing too high speed. In your opinion, would this work well for that? And, does it have the option to loop?
I think this would be a good one. The biggest weakness of the onreal (and something I’m thinking about now) is I don’t know how to get extra batteries and that’s pretty rough for someone using it alot outdoors. I would recommend a yi lite as a decent budget action camera but you will have to buy a case to go with it, as it comes with only the camera. Thanks for the comment! 😁👍
In the Q&A on Amazon's page, somebody asked if they took the PG 1050 batteries and the response was yes. I checked and you can order those WITH a charger for $15. I also found keymod mounts that would let me attach the camera to my rifle;) Also, do you know if the camera can be powered directly by a USB cable when I'm driving?
Huh, I thought I replied to this last night, but the reply isn't showing up. I went ahead and pulled the trigger last night. The camera, three extra batteries and a 64gb card. It will be here Thursday, and I leave Friday for an elk hunt.
A quick suggestion when you do your videos show us the ports of the action cams because some of us we really care about the charging port if it's a micro USB or a type c port and also if the camera has a 3.5 mm jack for external audio you definitely need to include this in your videos
The video quality alone over the Yi makes me want it over the Yi. And I feel the sound is better with the more expensive camera. Hmmmmm I’ll speak for me, if you feel that the camera that you got for 98% off will allow you to make better videos or make it easier for you, then keep it! It looks a bit wider than the other action cams I'm not sure it will fit in the mount. What's your best budget cam under a $100. I have looked at a thousand different ones.
i like the screen on the OnReal, its very wide and i like that it came with all those accesories, but i see that it has a yellow tone to its video. i would lilke you to do something like a measurement of the viewing angle on all resolutions above 720p. (put some type of wall card/painting/some stuff with lines... and the action cam on a tripod and maybe with the app to switch between resolutions, do not touch the action cam, because i heard that not all resolutions have the greatest wide angle they advertise).
question, does this record in full segments or does it break the video down into smaller chunks. i ask because i had another camera that would take a 1 hour video and it would break it down to 3 twenty minute clips, and i would then have to go into premier pro and re attach them, and sometimes clips would be lost. so if this records in full 1hour segment or best said the full length of your recording ureka i have found my pocket cam

it has almost the same chime sound when you turned it on as my SJcam does...made by the same people perhaps?..or maybe the same firmware?...i have found that a lot of these little budget cams are almost identical software they just have slightly different form factor and maybe a different chip,lens,etc..anyway.....i really like the footage of the OnReal,for real..looks like a contender..but it does kinda look like the footage i get out of my SJcam4000+.
here is the million dollar question what is the record time without going into a loop, not the runtime of the camera but actual record time with no loop?

There are different modes you can switch between and it does have a fisheye distortion reduction setting. Unfortunately nothing really ever reduces it fully. Thanks for the comment 😁👍
One of the key problems of GoPro clones is audio. Often the mic is hidden in the case with no hole, so the sound comes out muffled. I'm not decided. The other camera sounded better despite the wind? But the other camera's colour was crap. So the one touch wins.

No it doesn’t unfortunately. I think only the GoPro hero 6 does EIS at 4K. The Sony fdr x3000 also stabilizes at 4K but it’s OIS.

Oh yeah I absolutely LOVE gimbals. I always try to keep my camera in a gimbal as much as possible.

Nice, but I love my Garmin Virb Elite. Yes it's older, but it has a slider button which is great when wearing gloves on the motorcycle.

Are the wrist mounted controls waterproof? I use this kind of camera when I'm riding motorcycle and there is no guarantee.
I think they are water resistant but I doubt they’d be fully water proof.

My budget recommendation is usually the Yi Lite, you can find it for $70 sometimes. It does a really nice 1080p 60fps which is awesome for action.

i was not impressed with the audio but that was the only thing that was iffy. Nice video. great work! what is the record time of the camera without it going into a loop? loop turned off with a 32GB card in it what is the record time if you record and leave it alone?
Plug it into a laptop and the screen is supposed to give a choice of
""Mass Storage" or "Camera"". Mine just goes into camera mode so I
can't get the pictures out of the camera except by removing the microSD
card. Please help.

I'm thinking about getting something that I can use for hunting and that I can also mount to my dash while 4-wheeling. Nothing too high speed. In your opinion, would this work well for that? And, does it have the option to loop?

The biggest weakness of the onreal (and something I’m thinking about now) is I don’t know how to get extra batteries and that’s pretty rough for someone using it alot outdoors.
I would recommend a yi lite as a decent budget action camera but you will have to buy a case to go with it, as it comes with only the camera.

In the Q&A on Amazon's page, somebody asked if they took the PG 1050 batteries and the response was yes. I checked and you can order those WITH a charger for $15. I also found keymod mounts that would let me attach the camera to my rifle;)
Also, do you know if the camera can be powered directly by a USB cable when I'm driving?

Huh, I thought I replied to this last night, but the reply isn't showing up. I went ahead and pulled the trigger last night. The camera, three extra batteries and a 64gb card. It will be here Thursday, and I leave Friday for an elk hunt.

I rarely use these cameras in low light but in my experience these budget action cameras are pretty bad in low light.

A quick suggestion when you do your videos show us the ports of the action cams because some of us we really care about the charging port if it's a micro USB or a type c port and also if the camera has a 3.5 mm jack for external audio you definitely need to include this in your videos
The OnReal 4K Action Camera stabilized video looked great. Very impressive for a reasonable price.
The video quality alone over the Yi makes me want it over the Yi.
And I feel the sound is better with the more expensive camera. Hmmmmm
I’ll speak for me, if you feel that the camera that you got for 98% off will allow you to make better videos or make it easier for you, then keep it! I challenge anyone else to chip in here and tell us what they think but that is how I feel.

It should work. They have an after market action cam mount that fits mostly all GoPro style camera's
It looks a bit wider than the other action cams I'm not sure it will fit in the mount. What's your best budget cam under a $100. I have looked at a thousand different ones.
My favorite one is the yi lite, I’m going to try out an sjcam here when I can and maybe add that to my list of good ones

Looks good, but to what depth underwater is the housing rated?
i like the screen on the OnReal, its very wide and i like that it came with all those accesories, but i see that it has a yellow tone to its video. i would lilke you to do something like a measurement of the viewing angle on all resolutions above 720p. (put some type of wall card/painting/some stuff with lines... and the action cam on a tripod and maybe with the app to switch between resolutions, do not touch the action cam, because i heard that not all resolutions have the greatest wide angle they advertise).

question, does this record in full segments or does it break the video down into smaller chunks. i ask because i had another camera that would take a 1 hour video and it would break it down to 3 twenty minute clips, and i would then have to go into premier pro and re attach them, and sometimes clips would be lost. so if this records in full 1hour segment or best said the full length of your recording ureka i have found my pocket cam

It does work I apparently didn’t find the correct way to do it, but the person that won it in the giveaway was able to get it to work.

do you know any universal zoom lens for this go pro clones?
it has almost the same chime sound when you turned it on as my SJcam does...made by the same people perhaps?..or maybe the same firmware?...i have found that a lot of these little budget cams are almost identical software they just have slightly different form factor and maybe a different chip,lens,etc..anyway.....i really like the footage of the OnReal,for real..looks like a contender..but it does kinda look like the footage i get out of my SJcam4000+.

No it’s not, it is more saturated straight out of the camera then the Yi Lite.
here is the million dollar question what is the record time without going into a loop, not the runtime of the camera but actual record time with no loop?

Hi there, Great review! I live in Australia and record fishing. Looks like a great little camera but pretty hard to find on ebay. None in Asia just the USA which can be painfully slow getting here if at all. Amazon tried here but they are kind of a leaving on their hands and knees. Thanks
Can you switch modes so it doesn’t have the fish eye mode? Love this camera looks cool!!
There are different modes you can switch between and it does have a fisheye distortion reduction setting. Unfortunately nothing really ever reduces it fully.

Where are you finding the yi lite for $69.00. I’m on amazon and am still seeing it for one hundred plus.
I just looked myself and I guess the sale ended...it must have been a Black Friday weekend event.
One of the key problems of GoPro clones is audio. Often the mic is hidden in the case with no hole, so the sound comes out muffled.
I'm not decided. The other camera sounded better despite the wind? But the other camera's colour was crap. So the one touch wins.
