I was researching about action cameras, not long after looking at some videos on TH-cam, I saw your video about a few comparison of action camera, it really enlightened me that the general specs and other specs that I don't really get in the official website and some other without, I was considering getting a GoPro at first when I came across your video it made me think more, as a guitarist and skateboarder, it's very difficult to decide which camera to use, on top of that, I wish to get my siblings an action camera to use for their new TH-cam channel as my younger brother does DIY blades and other cool stuff and my younger sister does craft, as a big brother, I would do literary anything to make them happy. One of the best review and comparison video on Action cameras. Really helps noobs like me who is looking to invest on an action camera. Firefly 8S seems to be a killer action camera but for the battery. But Yi 4k has it all. Hope to buy them in a couple of days... Thanks for this wonderful video...

Thank you for the comparisons! I think the Mijia is cheap enough to get more than one for multi-cam shots. A little extra color correction and sharpening might make it good enough.
It should be actually the best sensor of all these cameras, its much larger than any of the other cameras. It has IMX317 and its 1/2.5" while the IMX179 is 1/3.2" . And as it has less pixels on a larger sensor, the quality should be way better. Should blow all the other cameras away especially in low light. But only does 30fps. The sensor model numbers on this video are wrong. Going to get one and put some high quality lens on it.

The Xiaomi Mijia is the best value for money. Despite some drawbacks, the camera offers good features and for the price, we can't complain too much. It would be a great camera to own, as I live to record some insane actions around the scenic places in my country but do not have any action cam.

So I think I'll go for the firefly 8s as it can do a fair job for me on a cheap price tag and that I wanna use a mic and I can't afford an h6 tbh 😂😂. So an 8s on the helmet. First of all, great vid, I enjoyed this type of comparaison. For the Mijia 4K, I would tell that water is my element and I would like to share to the world my passion for the sea and its beauty.
I would like to see this kind of review for action cameras: A) Describe the intended use prior to the review B) Call out the needed functions for the intended use One kind of product review would be based up the intended use for motor and human powered vehicles. Possibly have 2 action cameras, one in the front, another in the back of the vehicle. Needed functions for motor and human powered vehicles: 1- image stabilization, 2- low light functionality 3- swappable batteries
I get a kick out of people in here saying they want a camera because they're going on a month long vacation, and vacation to other countries. I haven't had a vacation for 6 years now. A vacation to me is have a full weekend off from work, and going to a park or nature trail. Good luck to all!

However there are those who are so entrenched into what they do, that it is so fulfilling that they do not look forward the holidays. Many, like you, this is most difficult to imagine. I know a few who fit this profile, they are astronomers and though they cherish family life, they are wanting to go back to work. "Work" takes on a different meaning. It is so much fun, it is their vacation (meaning, fun time)

The GoPro is still so much more detailed and doesn't blow out so fast as the rest... I can still see the price difference between the others. My other thought with that is what is better... I don't understand how you can say that the GoPro's so much more detailed than the YI 4K???? They're almost identical in sharpness, and if you watch any other review comparing the two cameras in 4k footage, the YI 4K actually has a sharper image and performs better than the Hero 5, even in low light (though the setting he recorded in on this video showed the YI 4K to be have low exposure so the image was very dark).

I want to share my sports/ health and nature videos with people ,I want to help them out,share my knowledge and experience, to inspire them, to show them that nature can heal us, sports, healthy foods and simply doing something active in your life can make a life an epic journey. Good comparison. I would use the camera while scuba diving. One thing to note about touch screen only, is that you may not adjust with an underwater case. This is why an external button would be good, as long as a waterproof housing allows you to press the button.

As an expat living in Vietnam, I think this is one of the best reviews out there. I can't purchase a camera until Feb when money comes in, but it gives me time to research the purchase before making a decision. My battery cover fell off my Nikon D7100 DSLR, so I went to a Camera store in Saigon to have the part ordered. While there, I reviewed his prices and specs on the two the cameras mentioned in the video. He had all the Go Pro's including the Go Pro 5. He had the Xiaomi Mijia 4K as well, and showed me examples of videos on his smart phone he took outside of all models. Go Pro 5, 6, 7, Xaomi Mijia 4K etc.... I think what I like about the Xiaomi Mijia 4k is the price point, but the applications for my smart phone make the GoPro 5 a strong contender. I need to easily edit and interface with my phone for facebook and blogging. I might be wrong, but it seems that the GoPro 5 would be better for editing videos than the Xaomi Mijia 4K. Maybe there is an application out there that can sort this out, and I know this video is old but I would like some advice if you have time. Thanks for the video.....

I liked the Xiaomi Mijia a lot! I would like to win this camera! To be honest, I liked the overall picture quality of the Xiaomi Mijia. Its colors were more vivid to me. The microphone was good enough quality and considering an external microphone can be added if one gets an adapter to convert to the special connection it has, then its a very viable camera, especially for those on a budget. Don't let the 8 megapixel fool you. When I watched the video, the 8mp cmos sensor performed very well. I just overall liked that one better. Having image stabilization at 1080p was very good. In post production, some of the areas where it lacked can be fixed. Having 3 of these for the same price as 1 Hero 5 seems to make sense, especially if doing a multi-camera shoot. I like it. Hope I win it!

Recently my GoPro HERO3 black broke down. I miss having a actioncamera with me while filming. I was thinking about getting a GoPro Session but Xiaomi is making good products so it would be awesome to give the Xiaomi a change.

They're almost identical in sharpness, and if you watch any other review comparing the two cameras in 4k footage, the YI 4K actually has a sharper image and performs better than the Hero 5, even in low light (though the setting he recorded in on this video showed the YI 4K to be have low exposure so the image was very dark).
SKINNY BUDDHA BOY my 4K screen is showing me otherwise... The YI also is too saturated in my opinion!

I want to win this camera because i have a lot to show. I want to share my sports/ health and nature videos with people ,I want to help them out,share my knowledge and experience, to inspire them, to show them that nature can heal us, sports, healthy foods and simply doing something active in your life can make a life an epic journey. If i would win a camera that would enable me to do so, because i come from a poor country where you get paid only like 300-400euro a month i can't really afford it, and i don't know when i will be able to buy it even tho it's not expensive. Good comparison. I would use the camera while scuba diving. One thing to note about touch screen only, is that you may not adjust with an underwater case. This is why an external button would be good, as long as a waterproof housing allows you to press the button.

As an expat living in Vietnam, I think this is one of the best reviews out there. I can't purchase a camera until Feb when money comes in, but it gives me time to research the purchase before making a decision. My battery cover fell off my Nikon D7100 DSLR, so I went to a Camera store in Saigon to have the part ordered. While there, I reviewed his prices and specs on the two the cameras mentioned in the video. He had all the Go Pro's including the Go Pro 5. He had the Xiaomi Mijia 4K as well, and showed me examples of videos on his smart phone he took outside of all models. Go Pro 5, 6, 7, Xaomi Mijia 4K etc.... I think what I like about the Xiaomi Mijia 4k is the price point, but the applications for my smart phone make the GoPro 5 a strong contender. I need to easily edit and interface with my phone for facebook and blogging. I might be wrong, but it seems that the GoPro 5 would be better for editing videos than the Xaomi Mijia 4K. Maybe there is an application out there that can sort this out, and I know this video is old but I would like some advice if you have time. Thanks for the video.....

I liked the Xiaomi Mijia a lot! I would like to win this camera! To be honest, I liked the overall picture quality of the Xiaomi Mijia. Its colors were more vivid to me. The microphone was good enough quality and considering an external microphone can be added if one gets an adapter to convert to the special connection it has, then its a very viable camera, especially for those on a budget. Don't let the 8 megapixel fool you. When I watched the video, the 8mp cmos sensor performed very well. I just overall liked that one better. Having image stabilization at 1080p was very good. In post production, some of the areas where it lacked can be fixed. Having 3 of these for the same price as 1 Hero 5 seems to make sense, especially if doing a multi-camera shoot. I like it. Hope I win it!
I would like to have the Mijia as my first action cam to... Try it and see how fun can be to go around with one of them, since I've never had one! Pleeease! XD

Recently my GoPro HERO3 black broke down. I miss having a actioncamera with me while filming. I was thinking about getting a GoPro Session but Xiaomi is making good products so it would be awesome to give the Xiaomi a change.
