The solution reinforces the chess principle : develop your pieces. The h8 rook was the one white piece NOT making a mate in 1 threat or restricting the movement of the black king. The solution when seen was painfully obvious : an excellent puzzle, in plain sight and hidden at the same time.
It must be said, though, that h8 rook had already been developed, given it must have started on a1 or h1! I think the principle you mean is that you should always try to _improve_ a piece to a square where it is more active.
Saw the board at the start. Didn't have time to watch the full video right now. However I'm thinking R f8 early on. If the Black Rook remains on the 6th rank then it's R f5#. If the Rook stays on the F-file then B g6#. But I'm second guessing myself as the above is what my instincts are telling me which means there must be something horribly wrong with that plan.
Thanks! This one is particularly painful. I was sure that I had it by moving the bishop along the diagonal, unaware that black had the resource of Rf5. The correct answer is fairly simple and should have been obvious, even to me. Ugh
@@Chess-strategy You're welcome. I'm starting to think that I'm a glutton for public humiliation. Why else would I continue to put my chess incompetence on display for all to see?
You forget to mention why Bc2 and Bd3 are wrong. It is obvious Be4 is wrong. The rook is already on the f-file as you explained in the vid. In case of Bc2 you have Rd6 preventing Bd1 and when Bd3 you can play Re6 preventing Be2. Eh...

Which is what developing a piece means !
I love your “quickies”.
Ha ha - I was too quick noticing the wrong one to e4 until it came to the right decision
I feel like maybe I should have gotten it a bit quicker, but I’m glad I finally did

Found this one pretty quickly. It ticks all the boxes: it's a sacrifice, a zugzwang _and_ a deflection! 👍👍👍
And a developing move, the h8 rook was the only piece not either restricting the king or threatening mate in 1.
It took just the right amount of time to solve it. Very satisfying.
1 Be4?, a try that I fell for, duhh! Well done, Notaro!
Nice puzzle, thanks for putting it up.
my god, got it quickly for a change
I insisted in moving the wrong piece first but finally I got it😊
My first win for a while now. I may be up to ten total. I'm terrible at these, but I sure do enjoy them.
Very much brute force, destroy the defender at any cost. I felt sorry for the black rook when I got it.
I found this one (a rare event). Key for me was to ask what were all the possible checkmating squares.
This one was VERY tricky!
Excellent 2 mover. Thank you very much and God bless you.

Nice one! Found the wrong solution, though!😢

Thank you so much for your support. You are my hero!

Got it!
Be4, Rf3, Bxf3#
A rare event for me- i got it in 2 minutes.

Easier one cuz Q was already trapped
Easy (for a change).
Tjusigt! 👍👍
I finally got one at last!
Спасибо, интересно

Pretty
I found mate in 102 moves! Do you want me to show you?
No. Not at all.
Go ahead, my little friend!😂
Nie wieder Aligro
It took me about 2 minutes to find the solution.
F8 is my move
