As a 58 year old black man I have to thank you for sharing so many of your experiences. I know the fact that I'm black and 58 is irrevelevant but I say that to inform you of the reach you have. I stumbled on your channel about a year ago and this is the first time I've commented. You have added so much to my life, because of your videos I still dream. Thanks man! Wishing you the best and please keep the videos coming!
Gus, you’re a trooper. You keep smiling when times get tough. You’re an inspiration to us all. Thanks to you and Ethan for putting this stuff together for us all to enjoy.
Dude.....I cannot get enough of your videos.....congrats on your channel. I'm a 56 year old retired disabled marine and I'm so damned impressed by your work ethic/ maturity...you obviously have had some good mentors....I'm living vicariously through your lens and thank you for that..
I am in the marine business and have lived on a boat for 40 years now. However, I have never had the opportunity to travel like you. You can be sure I will watch all your future episodes. You are lucky to have a loyal friend to travel with that has your back. You must be the most relentlessly positive person I have ever seen. Hope your health improves.
Gus you’ve been making lemonade out of lemons your whole life. This health issue is another example. I love what you and Ethan are doing. Be more cautious about the various chemicals and fluids you work around. Be very conscientious about PPE and keeping that stuff out of your system. I have a 50’ in Seattle and have concluded it’s much easier and cheaper to cruise on a cruise ship to see the sights. lol. Thanks for inviting us along.
Hey Gus, I am not much of a video commenter, but I really appreciate you sharing your health situation. That is a personal thing, and it takes some courage to share like that. My wife suffers from a similar (but less serious) situation, so I feel for you. I don't click the like button on every video just to please the algorithms, but you have earned a "like" from me on this one. Thank you for sharing, and be well!
I am debating on retiring on a trawler (I am 61) I have been watching your story and it's really been inspiring me. Thank you for sharing it here on YT.
I'm in the same BOAT as you...PUN intended..I'm 58 can retire in 4yrs with SS and a pension...after taxes..I should have around $3500 /$3800 to work with...and if I do good on TH-cam extra income....lol
@@JimKirk1776 try to save every penny you can right now outside of your SS/Pension. Savings accounts paying 5% interest, pretty significant. Just saving a few bucks on the side over the next 4 years can add to that $3500-3800 number significantly! Look into some stocks like JEPI and ARCC for even more cashflow. I think JEPI pays around 8% annual dividend, but pays out monthly, and it's price remains pretty stable. $10,000 in that alone would be $67 a month and you'd still have your $10,000 if an emergency happened and you needed a "lump sum". Adds up!
Gus, I had a major health issue. I was in the hospital for 40 days. It's not fun, your never quite attitude is what will get you back to good health. I will be watching your work, good luck.
I've been having medical issues myself and dude your such and inspiration!!! I think I really needed to hear the quote "life is nothing without health" I wish you all the best brother.
Yeah! I love following along with the adventures of Gus and Ethan, Frosty and Bella. Such positive, lovely guys and so interesting to see the life at sea and travels. A treat for my Sunday evening ❤😂
This was a LONG video and a lot to digest. First off I'm glad you're feeling well and back in action. Second Ethan is the best thing that's happened to "InTooDeep". You guys are the "Dynamic Duo" of the east coast boating world. Third is that freaking 45' Everglades CC. WOW!!! What a beast!!!! Lastly if you ever do one of those "Invite some 50+ year old guy to live the dream a little" put me on the list. Enjoy and be safe guys!!!
And here I was just this morning saying "I wonder when Gus is gonna post an update video?" Sorry you had some health issues, been there, done that! Glad you're on the mend and feeling better, can't wait for the trip north posts! Thankful Frosty is around to help you, too!
You really know how to live a good life for a young guy, positive attitude and a go getter. Lot of knowledge about boats. Seems like you could fix anything!! God bless man ✌️
Love boat shows especially the Wooden Boat Shows, but also cabin cruisers. Gus, take care of yourself. I hope you are feeling better soon. Take time to heal and get your strength back. My hope is God will continue to bless you and keep you and Ethan safe.
Just randomly found your channel and want to say keep on giggling!!! I had lots of adventures in my 20s and don’t regret any of it! I usually have the best stories to tell around the campfire! I’m 75 now and having some good memories is a good thing!
Hi Gus, First time I watched your video and subscribed. You touched me. I spent 29 days in the hospital with a lung infection that turned out to be cancer as well. 10 hours of surgery and back on track like you, stronger than before! Sold my boat but hopefully will be back soon. Only people like us know what it’s like to spend a month in the hospital. Life is beautiful and enjoy the rides!
I’m so impressed with you. Spent 30+ years selling tools and equipment to mechanics and you are one of the best. Mac Tools 25 yrs and another brand 5 yrs.
So glad you're feeling better. You're such an amazing young man and it seems Ethan is too. LOVE watching the two of you doing your thing. Tx for very enjoyable video's. Love & light from Cape Town.💕🍹
Dang Gus Thanks for sharing health stuff is scary and its always good to hear from people and know these things can happen and to get help. Glad your doing better. The new 70 will be such a cool project and great experience.
I built my own water maker and I installed high pressure pumps on both engines and the genset. I picked pumps that would provide full output at low rpm and i have bypass valves that bypass flow from the membranes at higher rpm.
Best channel on YT these days. I am a life time boater, just turned 60, avid aluminum cruiser faniatic but also have spent 10 years with a pair of 466 Bertrams with Detroits, Life time on the water. I am getting old now, not as flexible to work on boats as I used to be for sure. Gonna continue living the boat dream through you. I have down sized to a 24' SeaPro with a 250 Suzuki and a freshwater 19' bass boat for now. Be fun to visit some time. I lived it and done it so happy to be following you and see your path develop.
Glad to hear you healed and are healthy. Frosty is a huge part of the channel so definitely keep him behind and in front of the camera. Living aquatica vicariously through y'all is a trip. (Maybe some coverage of the NEW annual spring break sorority charity cruise and bikini cocktail spritzer!) Cheers,ed
Gus, happy to see you on the mend, and enjoying the little things in life, such as a sunrise. Keep enjoying life. Excited to see the trip north, and your marina adventures
I wish I did what you guys are doing when I was young. Now my possessions possess me and I am grounded ashore. Keep cruising and sharing your adventures with us. Safe travels.
Dude ur a ray of light in an often dark world. Boating aside it's your LIVE LIFE ATTITUDE THATS INFECTIOUS.... I think it reminds so many of what they are missing out on and can do with just some desire and will power!!!
What an epic video, Hope you’re still feeling better Gus, and certainly happy that Ethan has your back and you never had to worry about being absent from Bella.
Gus and Ethan. You guys are true legends. Love ALL your videoes. Amazing that you showed the Marlow Explorer. We owned the first ever made Marlow Voyager LR76 which we loved and did 15000 miles. Please look after yourself, and wish you perfect health from now on and more long videos.
Hey guss, so glad your recovery is going well. I have a sister who has dealt with Chrone's disease most of her adult life. She had seven feet of herintestine cut out, so i know it wasn't easy what you went through. I enjoy watching your videos. I love that there are 2 hours I don't mind a bit. It's like watching a movie. Keep up the great work catch on the next go-around.
Gus, thank you for updating us on your new life. My youngest has Chrons and controls it by diet and he's doing fine. He 52' now but I must say that he went thru what you have been thru. Remember Gus life won't let us cheat and pay me now or pay me later but you will pay. That ring a bell or two. I'm like you when my feet touch the ground I get moving. I also know who's in charge and it's not you or me. I love your video's and look forward to more of them. On too the motor maintenance (Injector and waterpump). I certainly hope you are now on the preventative maintenance for yourself and well as for the boat. To the both of you guys here's to a wonderful trip back North to main. I'm totally impressed with the two of you for your willingness to get whatever done. Also Gus and Frosty out here in the CA Delta June 2nd at Vierra's Resort on the Sacramento River just North of Rio Vista, consider yourselves fortunate as Gas on the river is 6.99 a gallon. Calif. is killing us. I don't know what diesel is.
I really enjoyed the part about the injector and generator work. My only experience with a marine diesel was a Perkins 4-1089 in a Swan 44 sailing yacht. The engine was under a cover below the companionway to the deck. To access the engine, i had to raise the companionway and secure it to the underside of the deck, and then open a huge, mahogany engine cover. If there was a fuel problem, I had to manually prime the engine by laying on the floor of the head and open a small access door. Your engine rooms look like a dream to me
Gus - You are a strong determined lad, You will recover for sure and take care, look after yourself - We look forward to seeing you back in harness next time!! John
Hey brother much prayers...... You are my favorite TH-camr. You have such an amazing positive attitude, despite the many things that pile up against you. I pray the Lord will strengthen you, and that you will encounter no more difficulties regarding this Crohn's disease. He is the answer. Thank you for inspiring me beyond measure, I'm praying for your continued health. You have inspired me to do greater things. Darryl Central Fla
Truly sorry to hear you had gone through your medical issue. You're on your way to a full recovery. I enjoyed this sober edition over the last buzzed edition from the party in South Beach. Safe journey North.
I understand. I have Chrons and had a Colostomy. They took all my Colon short of 10 inches. It’s brutal but hey, we can persevere. I’m 66 now. I have good days and bad days. But you’re young. It will get better. Good luck. Luv your work and videos. Was a Certified Chevy tech and Aircraft Mechanic
Gusser - I, too, have had many health issues over the years, including kidney stones (3 times), gout, hip replacement, gall bladder removed, etc., etc. While not looking to minimize any of that, your health is paramount, but I think the real key to getting through it all (in addition to good doctors), is a positive mental outlook and a great sense of humor . . . looks like you're covered! Best to you and your crew(s) in the upcoming season. If you plan on motoring through the C&D Canal, let everyone know and I'll treat you to a few brewskis at the Chesapeake Inn's Tiki Bar! Smooth sailing, Doug
Gus I hope you are doing well. Thanks for sharing some of your personal stuff with us. That probably wasn’t easy. I’m glad you’re doing well after surgery. My son is also a crohns patient. Watch what you eat and go shy on the alcohol. Anyway love the channel, keep doing what you’re doing and keep filming. Indy Chris
Thanks for sharing you life with us. I'm stuck in mid America where there is no ocean for a thousand miles in any direction. I miss the smell of salt water. It's fun going along on your adventures, it knocked a little boredom off my day. Enjoy life it goes by so fast. It was almost 40 years ago when I was going to Daytona for spring break, now I can get a senior citizen discount at the local boat show lol
Man,,,You can do what you want to do,,, everything you do we will be there with you ,, don’t worry about anything else,,, you will be fine,,, don’t think anything else
I'm from a little island off the coast of Georgia, Tybee. Manatees were such a rare sighting, when I was little, they became my favorite animal, even over dolphins. Known as gentle giants. I'm bawling seeing this poor little one. There's not much more sad than that. I've moved away from there, but I've heard they are becoming more common up in the rivers and creeks now. Out at Sunbury Docks/ Marina, Ga., they have a Manatee watch sign to keep an eye out for them. It breaks my heart. Poor things. 😢 ❤
Gus, so glad you are feeling better. My Mom and Sister struggled their whole life with IBS/CROHNS/ COLITIS! My grandmother had Crohn’s and had to wear a bag her whole life. I try to eat healthy as to avoid heading down that path!! Take good care of yourself. I love your videos….had my own Hatteras 53 for awhile. Beautiful boat!!
Really enjoy your videos Gus. I am so happy that you recovered from your surgery. Sorry that you had to experience this illiness. I understand that you have a different outlook on life as you should. At your age I can understand that you feel that you are bulletproof. Thats part of life. Please take care of yourself. Safe travels Chaptain Gus. 😊
I’m extremely sorry to hear about your dilemma about the hospital.I have heard Crohn’s isa pretty tough thing to deal with. I’m also glad you came through the tough times. I’m at the 1:27:12 mark in your video and you just said you were coming north for the summer.I’ll think healthy thoughts for you as I’m not much of a prayer guy.Have a great trip, obviously it’s pretty much over ,with you coming North so have a great summer and life !
Hey thank you for the entertainment. So cool to see you living your dream! I'm glad you're feeling better And it's a good thing they caught it And get new straight now.
Can't believe I just watched a two plus hour video of in too deep. I have watched all your videos since the beginning and enjoyed them all. Can't wait for the next one. There better than the stuff on tv. Thanks and Safe travels.
Gus, I live in Virginia Beach, you have probably gone through Norfolk on your way north BUT, if you ever need help coming through here I will be glad to help. I am retired so any help you may need is doable for me. So sorry to hear about your medical issues and we are hoping those are behind you. 👍
Just finished the whole vid, You and Ethan (Frosty) are two really likeable guys (and Micah seems really cool too) and I enjoy watching your adventures, please keep sharing. Also that sux about the gut issues, I have a very mild case and it drives me crazy sometimes but as you mentioned diet helps a lot. I wish you both all the best, many adventures to come. God bless. Cruise on!
So sorry to hear about your health issues. Be careful after surgery don't get a hernia. I had ab surgery too and got a hernia within my first year from straining to much working. Hernia surgery isn't any fun either! Glad to see you bouncing back!
Love your adventures and if I wasn't 77 years old soon to be78 years old I would do more than just watch your videos. I will say that in my 30s I was an avid water skier. Be safe. 🚤
Awesome video. Gus, sad to hear you had to undergo such an awful experience with Crohn's and an infection. Happy you were able to find a competent surgeon and decent medical care. Major abdominal surgery is a brutal shock to your system. One question left unanswered -- what further repairs/upgrades are you planning for Bella? Are you happy with the condition of the galley, living spaces, heads and seeping cabins? Are the layouts and equipment in both helm stations up to your standards?
I get 2.5 - 3 MPG at 1700 - 1800 rpm @ 7 knots with my Perkins 4-236s in my Prairie 36 Trawler. so you are doing great! I have gotten as much as 13 mpg on one trip running one engine catching the tide. Prolly won't get to do that very often. LOL
In my mind, a solution to the derelict boats anchoring, might be to charge the $750/month for landing access. Put stickers on the dinghys to prove you've paid. Sewage system inspections. But, a much more reasonable anchoring distance from shore. Many of us might want to stay there for several months. Others might only be able to afford to live on anchored boats, and work ashore. Providing benefits to the local economy. Just a possible solution.
Another great video. Really sorry to hear about your health issues but thanks for sharing. Like me, I'm sure many of us are praying for you. You and Ethan be safe and look forward to your next video. We went out last night and followed a pod of Whales for an hour.
Hey, check your prop on the new boat that could be the difference in speed. Make sure it’s the right pitch for the RPMs. It will definitely make a difference.
No ear plugs when diving. They produce an air space that you can't equalize. If you have trouble with ear infections use something to dry your ears with after the dive.
Those Marlows have the best layouts of any boat I've ever seen. Those interiors took some serious head scratching. And see those floating drive shafts?
🤗Hope you are feeling better. Health is Wealth. Keep living the life. Any day on the water is better than a day in the office. The burning question is, two handsome young men "Where are all the lady friends?"
Yo God bless you man I have Crohn's disease also so far I have not had to have surgery and I just subscribed to your channel 2 days ago man loving every minute of it take care of my brother
On the West coast our rule is the wave period needs to be twice the wave height (at least) to consider going out. The longer the wave period the better the seas will be.
Worth the wait. Another epic adventure from Gus, and Ethan is a bonus. I really want to see what you do with the water system. Living a dream of mine from up here in the Rocky Mtns. Priceless!
I lost my partner to Chrohns disease, she was only 28 years old. Fkd up operation killed her in the UK. The doctor didnt stitch her up properly after removing some of her intestines and she died from septicemia. good luck mate.
So there's a saying. Boat stands for busy out another thousand lol. That's the only reason I never bought a boat. I wish I had. I'd love it. But that scared me not knowing anything about boats. You guys in short films make it look easy. But I know we don't get the whole gravity of what it all takes to own and maintain a boat. Props to you all
I love how you are so neat and clean! Especially when working in the engine room. Everything has a place…you certainly take pride in your work and have a ton of fun doing it! I am living vicariously through you (hope you don’t mind) 😜. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes
You could probably use a pressure washer to clean the bottom of the boat, I realize that the pressure would push you around under the water but in shallow water and a long wand it would probably work just fine as you'd be able to stand/support yourself on the bottom of the water... something to experiment with and if it's doable it would save you a butt ton of money getting the boat hauled out...... I'm thinking a 1800psi with a 45° tip might even be able to go as high as 2300 psi and put a pressure regulator on it and experiment with pressure.... an electric pressure, you'd have to clean it more often so it doesn't get so stuck on that you have to take it out but if you can scrap it off as easily as it looked in the video then a pressure washer would be quicker and would get into the spots you can't scrape... I've don't it on my 26 foot Doral boat and it works amazingly granted I had the advantage of a smaller boat so I could stand and knell under the hull in much shallower water but you can do the same thing as you have air to breathe.... if nothing else else it would make great content and that's the name of the game.... BTW I'm a licensed truck and coach mechanic so I have a good understanding of how things work just like you do, and like Derek says from the TH-cam channel Vice Grig Garage " if it works, is it really a dum idea " 🍻🇨🇦💪... BTW if you ever make you way up the st.Lawrence sea way ( river ) and your passing Brockville Ontario drop me a line
little brother love ur infectious optimism and love of the water def think with ur spirit u should try the great loop i did in a Ranger Tug 27 ob solo with my dog ur ridin way better in ur big beastie i, sure u would have and easier time love u and ur boys keep content comin truly a fan now feel ur pain with the Krones i deal with Psoriasis and sucks when ur body fs with u

I’m glad you didn’t have to go on a bag. Had similar problems just got my reversal surgery April 26 this year. Bag free. I can relate to the stress.
Thanks for the fuel burn info! I run a 1979 Bayliner 40 Bodega with 671s and the previous owner told me 1mpg at 8 knots.
@ 17:20 That's how you know a good friend, shows up and helps sand.

Gus - You are a strong determined lad, You will recover for sure and take care, look after yourself - We look forward to seeing you back in harness next time!! John
Gus, I wish you the best of health. Your videos are just wonderful; thank you for what you give all of us.

Great if we can also see some boat tasks on Frosty as well!
I’ve watched more boat shows than I can count and yours is the most fun, funnest super duper and much more.
Thank God your still here! Now you need to take care of yourself! YOLO! Take and may you have a full recovery! Godspeed!
Gus,
Just started watching a couple weeks ago. Love your channel and story. Hope you’ll do the great loop.
First thought was over two hours? Couldn't stop watching.
Exactly, and it went quick.
Gus, Steve Pruitt here I ran into you at the Costco in Norfolk, VA today 06-05-24, It was nice meeting you and I enjoy your channel!
You’re living my dream.
Gus, I live in Virginia Beach, you have probably gone through Norfolk on your way north BUT, if you ever need help coming through here I will be glad to help. I am retired so any help you may need is doable for me. So sorry to hear about your medical issues and we are hoping those are behind you. 👍
Ethan makes me laugh and Gus is so positive all the time - keep up the good work guys 👍
Get well soon Gus, you are such a positive person 👍
It’s a great day when you upload
LOL
My husband has Crohn's as well, and had the major surgery 16 years ago, and with medication, has been great since.
This was a long video and my face hurts from smiling this long. Cheers
Lol women these days are alot different. They don't bring anything to the table but drama and bs. Rather have a good one around then a bunch of dummys
13 of them showed up and the city council took notice. They seem to show up on those trips down to the Keys!
Very interesting video, although all your videos are entertaining. I can't wait for this Summer. Keep posting. Safe travels.
I love Gus and Ethan! I love all of your adventures and look forward to seeing all of your future videos.
Damn brother that sucks. I've been there re sudden nasty surgery... Praying for your continued healing. Blessings
Great episode. Watching you from the UK. Glad to see you are feeling better Gus. Both you guys are inspirational! Keep it going!
I love your videos. Do you have any plans in the future of doing the great loop and vlogging it?
This was a fun adventure to follow along with. I hope the plan is still to have Ethan around and making more vids.
Good luck with your recovery i just had 4 hernias repaired that was no fun either and slowly getting better myself
Awesome content Gus, Ethan as always. Glad your recovery is going well!
Props to you all
Be careful and enjoy the keys. Hope you continue to do well and get better soon.
Gus and Ethan what great guys, keep up the adventures of Bella and Frosty. ❤⚓
Hi guys, you make such a great team. It's fun to see you working together . Thank you for all of the information and the entertainment!
