To avoid chemicals, loosen the roots using a hard rake, benefit of dethatching at the same time. The clover runners will pop up out of the lawn and can be pulled.
Each to their own and I love your channel but I remember reading an article from the university extension about how great clover is for your lawn and the environment. When we got our big dogs our lawns went to hell but when clover came in we noticed the dogs didn't wear it out. It also stayed dark green and was easy to mow. We played with the kids on it and it never unrooted. So in our front yard we are letting the clover spread so we can cut it short and it'll look like we have a nice green lawn!!
Hi. I've read the same sort of information. I've recently put down centipede sod in my lawns and can't find ANY info on how much clover seed to add. But the information on clovers nitrogen fixing benefits and how it was in ALL yards before the fertilizer and chemical companies conditioned generations of people to convince us they are a nuisance plant so they could push their products...all very intriguing stuff once you look into it.

I went to a sod farm last week and the owner mentioned that the only way to kill broadleaf plants (clover) is after they’ve surfaced. He said there is no way to kill clover while it’s dormant so I’ll be using Tenacity once the ground temp breaks 50

The microbiology in my lawn is very important to me; I am working to build fungi dominant soil for good turf health. Would FeHEDTA be a good organic solution to clover and broadleaf weeds? Thanks from Zone 6 in Ohio.
I find that Speedzone or products like that work better on clover than Tenacity. Always use Tenacity as a pre-emergent for even spot spraying, but you'll need multiple applications of Tenacity to be effective on clover in my experience. Tenacity decimates summer annuals like crabgrass so it's great for killing the summer devil.
I’ve had great results with SpeedZone Southern as my go to weed killer. It doesn’t kill crabgrass though. Everything else, it does a great job on. It torches goathead weeds. I tried Tenacity this winter on crabgrass, and it hardly made any difference.
@Amanda Davis thanks for the comment. As far as Tenacity goes, per the label, it should only be sprayed between 55 and 85 degrees, with 65 and above being the most effective. Tenacity won't work if the plant isn't growing, so for summer weeds like Crabgrass, the weed first starts germinating at 55 degrees. I'd try again in the spring, and I always do a 2nd application to make sure I got everything around late spring/early summer. Best of luck.
